The B-Schools will prepare the CMAT 2016 cutoff marks on the basis of various factors to shortlist the candidates for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. These Institutes maintain the CMAT cutoff scores similar for several years, therefore, the candidates can expect the cutoff to be similar to that of the previous year. The shortlisted candidates are required to participate in the pre-admission rounds and based on the score of these rounds, the final selection will be made. AICTE conducted CMAT 2017 on January 28 & 29, 2017, and 59,181 candidates appeared for the test. CMAT 2016 Cutoff

There are over 1000 B-Schools affiliated to AICTE which accept the CMAT scores for granting management admission to the deserving candidates. Along with the CMAT scores, the overall profile of the candidates is also considered by the institutes while shortlisting. The cutoff of CMAT will be out for every category and generally, the cutoffs remain on a higher side only especially for renowned institutes. Based on these cuoffs and the selection criteria’s laid down by these institutes, the candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process. Generally, the pre-admission process comprises of Group Discussion, a Written Test and Personal Interview. The selection criteria and cutoffs differ for various institutes.

After having a look at the Cutoff Scores of CMAT 2016, let’s discuss more about the cutoff. The cutoffs will be finalized by AICTE affiliated institutes and there will be no issuance of clarification to any candidate in any case. The cutoff will be released for each category after taking into account various factors like difficulty level of test, number of seat available in institute, reservation norms etc. The CMAT 2016 Cutoff will be available on the respective official websites of the institutes. 

If your exam scores shall be below the Cutoff of CMAT 2016; you shall not be called for next steps of admissions. Similarly corresponding to the cutoff marks, the cutoff ranks will be released which will be the last ones to be included in the merit list. 

Significance of Previous Year CMAT Cutoff

  • Every year the CMAT cutoffs are released new, even then we always stress for the candidates to have a look at the previous year ones’ which helps in drawing a fair idea about the this year’s cutoff.
  • This is done owing to the fact that the current year cutoffs are always around the previous year cutoffs. This remains valid till there is no major change in the examination and evaluation methods.
  • Therefore, the cutoffs for the previous years have been hosted till the release of CMAT 2016 Cutoff for all the candidates to have an overview of the cutoffs.

Steps to calculate CMAT 2017 percentile & scores

The scores of CMAT 2017 are being calculated by assigning –

  • +4 marks for the correct answer.
  • -1 mark for an incorrect answer.
  • 0 mark for no answer.

The formula to calculate the percentile is –

P = ((N – Candidate’s Rank)/N) x 100

Here, “P” is the percentile and “N” is the total number of candidates who have appeared for the test on January 28 & 29, 2017.

How is the National Merit Ranking is prepared?

The National Merit Ranking is being prepared on the basis of the candidate’s score. If two or more candidates obtain the same score, then the ranking will be done on the basis of the sectional scores in the following order –

  • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Language Comprehension
  • General Awareness.

However, even after applying the above tie-breaking method, the tie exists then the same rank will be assigned to them, however, the names of such candidates will be displayed alphabetically.
