FMS PI 2016 – The shortlist for the candidates for the selected for Extempore and Personal Interview (PI) round has been released. A total of 2157 has been selected for the FMS PI 2016 and is scheduled to be held from 12 to 18 April 2016 at the North Campus of University of Delhi. As always the competition is high and the shortlist ratio is 10 candidates to 1. There will be an intake of 216 total candidates from all categories. According to Dr. M.L. Singla, Dean FMS Delhi “For this year, FMS has decided to call candidates in the ratio of 10:1, i.e 10 Candidates for every seat in each category, as per the merit in the computed scores”.
FMS PI 2016 – New Shortlisting Criteria
This year, FMS Delhi has adopted a new approach for shortlisting candidates by awarding weightage to the candidate’s CAT 2015 sectional scores. Earlier, FMS Delhi has applied the criteria of shortlisting candidates on the basis of composite scores awarded with sectional weightage to the candidates. The candidates must note that there will be no reservation for any seat for residents or students of Delhi or University of Delhi.
Time & Venue for FMS PI 2016
Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi will start conducting the PI rounds from 12 April and will conclude on 18 April 2016. Since the cutoff composite score is 59.430, the Personal Interview is going to be the last hope in such a close competition. The PI is divided into 7 slots of 1 hour each every day from 12 to 18 April 2016 and will commence from 8.30 AM till 3.30 PM. In the first 30 minutes, the candidate’s documents will be verified and in the next 30 minutes, Extempore and Personal Interview process will be held.
FMS Extempore & PI Tips
The institute seeks for candidates with overall good persona and must have a high potential and well-grounded nature. The candidate must be concerned about the society and environment at large. The institute adopts various criteria to select and tailor candidates for the Corporate and Industrial world in the rising MBA market. According to the Dean, Dr. M.L. Singla, “The average salary of the Graduates of FMS this year is INR 20 lakh plus. PI process is what it should be selecting such people.”
Details on FMS Personal Interview Round
The personal interview round of FMS, Delhi will consist of Extempore and Personal Interview round. FMS has discarded the Group Discussion round from its final selection process. It finds that in the GD round, most candidates are not able to perform well at such short duration. Whereas, a candidate can easily perform in the PI round and can express his/her knowledge to grab the opportunity.
FMS Delhi Extempore & PI
In the Personal Interview, the candidate starts with the ‘Extempore’ speech of maximum 3 minutes. For the Extempore topic, the chair decides it and no thinking time are allowed. This speech is to be delivered in front of the panelists. However, if a candidate is not comfortable or familiar with the topic, then a different topic will be given with no penalty. The weightage of the ‘Extempore’ is 5% on a scale of 100.
The Personal Interview may last from 12 to 20 minutes depending on the candidate’s response. The PI round has a weightage of 10 marks on a scale of 100 and it is very important to cover the call.
The final admission offer will be based on the candidate’s CAT score, performance in Extempore and Personal Interview round. In the final result, the candidates academic profile, work experience and CAT score will be compiled. FMS offers 85 % weightage to the CAT score. Out of the 216 seats, there are 16 supernumerary seats which are available to the candidates belonging to PH, CW and Foreign Students Category.
