How to register for XAT 2017 – XLRI has begun with the online XAT 2017 registration from August 17, 2016. Last year, quite a few changes were made to Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) but this year, the notification has not come up with any such surprise. The only minor change is increase in the application fee. However, a few interesting features have been added to the XAT Registration Process this year. The last date to register for XAT 2017 without the payment of late fee is November 30, 2016. To help all the applicants in registering for XAT without any error, this article provides the detailed step-wise process for the online registration and form submission. They should follow the process of online registration as per the steps given below. This will ensure that the form submission is done correctly and with ease.

All the XAT 2017 aspirants should check the eligibility norms to appear for the test. It is the foremost and an important step of the application procedure. The eligibility of the candidates will be verified at the selection stages. In case, it comes to the notice of the officials that the candidate doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria, he/she will be debarred from the admission process irrespective of the stage.
To apply for Xavier Aptitude Test 2017, the aspirant is required to hold a Bachelor’s degree of 3 years or its equivalent in any discipline. Neither there is age limitation nor any specific percentage requirement prescribed by XLRI to apply for XAT. However, the eligibility criterion differs for every XLRI programs.

Prerequisites for XAT Application Form 2017
After ensuring that you are eligible to apply for XAT, the next thing which must be done is to arrange the below listed things.
- Arrange for a recent coloured passport size photograph in digital format. The image resolution should be 480X480 and 1024×1024 pixels. Also, don’t forget to keep 4-5 copies of this same photograph saved with you as it may be required later during the admission process.
- Arrange for signature to be uploaded in the form. The applicant should sign (no capital letters) on a white paper with a black ink pen. Then, scan this signature in 200 dpi scanner resolution settings. The image resolution should be 320×320 and 600×600 pixels.
- The file size for both, the photograph & signature should not exceed 1 MB.
- The file type should be in ‘png, gif, jpg or jpeg’ format only.
- Also, arrange for the payment of application fee.
The candidates will not be able to proceed ahead with the registration if they will not upload the photograph and signature as per the prescribed specifications.
- The candidates must add firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com as trusted sources in the anti-Spam software of the email. Not doing so may result in not receiving any important email or it will get delivered to the Spam/junk folder.

Amount of XAT/XLRI Application Fee and Mode of Payment
The amount of application fee has been increased this year and the table below furnishes the fee details.

The application fee is non-refundable and can be paid through three modes, which are as follow –
Mode 1 – Online Payment Gateway
The applicants can pay the fee using VISA/Master Credit/Debit Cards. However, American Express Card is inadmissible. The IDBI account holders can pay the fee using Net banking facility.
Mode 2 – Cash Payment
The fee can be paid in cash at any IDBI Bank against the print out of the XAT Pay-In-Slip.
Mode 3 – Demand Draft
The XAT Application fee can be paid via DD. The candidates are required to obtain a DD from any Nationalised Bank, drawn in favor of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT” payable at Jamshedpur.
The candidates opting to pay the application fee via mode 2 or 3 must update the payment details in the application form.
How to register for XAT 2017? – Step by Step XAT Registration 2017 Guide
The applicants are required to fill a common application form to apply for XAT and XLRI programs. To make the application process of XAT 2017 simple for the applicants, the details of every step along with its pictorial representation has been provided here.
Step 1 – Login or Register fresh
Click on “Apply Now” to begin with the registration process. The candidates can click on the link given here in this article to reach directly on the login page.
To access the application form, the candidates are required to login first. As already told above, this year certain new features have been added to the XAT application procedure. This year, the candidates have four different and effortless ways of logging in, which are as follow –
- They can login using their Google Plus id.
- They can use their Facebook id.
- The XAT repeaters can login using their XAT 2016 Id & password. They are not required to register fresh this year and they may find their details prefilled in the application form.
- Lastly, the applicants can register fresh by creating a new account. For this, they will be required to enter a valid email id and password. The candidates must note that this email id will be treated as the primary email address by XLRI and XAT office and would be used for all the future communications. So, it should be ensured that this email id is kept active till the admission process ends.
Now, the applicants must login using any of the 4 above-mentioned ways. On successful login, they will be asked to fill their name, mobile number, select test centre, upload photograph & signature. Save these details to proceed further and access the application form.
Step 3 – Fill details in the application form
The online application form of XAT 2017 comprises of 6 different sections, which are as follow –
- Uploads & Payment
First thing the candidates will be required to do is select their Nationality among the 3 given choices, namely, Indian, NRI or Foreign.
Next in the XAT Registration Process 2017 is to select the XLRI programmes of their choice from Business Management, Human Resource Management, General Management and Global Business Management. However, the candidates not interested in applying to XLRI can skip this step. To apply for the XLRI programmes, the candidates will be required to pay Rs. 300 per course apart from the XAT application fee. After filling these details, click on “NEXT” to proceed further.
Now, in this section, the applicants are required to fill in their personal details such as their name, email ID, mobile number, parents’ name, date of birth, select category, Kashmiri migrant or not, gender & visually handicapped or not. Again, click on “NEXT” to proceed further.
This is Section 3 of the XAT Application Form 2017. Here, the candidates are required to provide their contact details. On filling these, click on “NEXT” to move to next section.
In section 4, the applicants are required to fill their education details. They will have to provide their Class 10, Class 12, Graduation and Post-Graduation details. Also, they will have to enter the details like institute name, Board/University, year of starting and passing, percentage and stream/subjects studied. Click on “NEXT” to proceed further.
This brings you to the second last section of the online application form. Here the candidates are required to enter their work experience details.
Apart from this, they will be required to select the test center too in this section.
Also, agree to a declaration and thereafter click on “NEXT” to proceed ahead.
The candidates can apply for change in the test center by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. However, they can send this test centre change request only once. The last date to get the test centre changed is November 30, 2016.
Now, upload the photograph & signature as per the specifications mentioned in one of the sections above.
Lastly, make the payment of application fee via any of the available payment modes.
With the payment of application fee, the XAT 2017 Online Registration process will complete. The confirmation page will be displayed on the screen. The candidates are suggested to print this confirmation page and note down the XAT ID displayed there.
The candidates who opted to pay the application fee via DD will have to send the print of confirmation page along with the DD to the XLRI office. It must be sent within 15 days from the date of issuance of the Demand Draft.
