After a through consideration of various factors like number of applicants, performance of all the candidates, difficulty level in the exam, cutoff of previous year and number of seats available, the eligible candidates are shortlisted. In the admission criteria, the minimum CAT percentile is published, which is misunderstood as the actual cutoff by the students. However, the actual cutoff remains on a higher side compared to the minimum percentile. Those who will score less than the minimum percentile will be dismissed from admission procedure.

Selection at IIM Calcutta for the session 2016-18
It is not necessary, that all those candidates who will be called for PI round will be given admission. For selecting candidates, their CAT 2015 Score, class Xth & XIIth marks and gender diversity factors will be taken into consideration. IIM Calcutta has already released the weights which will be assigned to these various factors and scores will be calculated.
