In other words, the selection procedure of XAT 2018 will vary from institute to institute. There is no common counselling round for selecting the students on the basis of XAT result. After the announcement of XAT result, the institutes that accept XAT scores release their individual cutoffs. The candidates who meet the cutoff scores of these institutes are eligible for the next rounds of admissions. XAT Selection Procedure 2018

There are around 150 colleges that accept XAT scores. The selection procedure can be divided into three stages. The first stage is the same for all candidates. In this stage, the candidates will have to appear for XAT 2018 exam. In the second stage, the shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the next rounds which include Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), essay writing etc. In the third stage, the final list of the selected candidates is prepared and the seats are offered to them.

XAT Selection Procedure 2018 – Stage 1

In the first stage, the candidates appear for XAT exam. XAT 2018 is expected to be held on January 7, 2018. The application process is likely to start in mid-August 2017. In order to appear in the exam, it is important for the candidates to register themselves within the specified time period. XAT is a pen and paper based exam which is divided into two parts. The questions are asked from different sections such as Quantitative Ability, English Language, Logical Reasoning, Decision Making and General Knowledge. The second part also involves essay writing.

On the basis of their performance in XAT 2018, the candidates will be shortlisted for pre-admission rounds. It is important to understand that XAT is a highly competitive exam with a large number of students vying for a limited number of seats in XLRI and other prestigious management institutes. Therefore, only a small percentage of the students who appear for XAT exam are shortlisted for the next rounds.

In the second stage, the institutes announce their cut off scores. The candidates who meet the cutoff criteria are invited for the pre-admission rounds. This stage comprises of Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and essay writing. These rounds may differ from institute to institute. Some of the colleges may also conduct Group Activity and Case Discussion.

XAT Selection Procedure 2018 – Stage 3

In the third stage, the institutes evaluate the overall (stage 1 and stage 2) performance of the candidates and prepare the final list of the selected candidates. These candidates are offered seats in the various management programmes offered by these institutes. Many of the colleges also take into consideration the past academic record and work experience of the candidates before making a final selection.
