IESIES 2017: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Indian Engineering Services (IES) mains exam on May 14, 2017. Around 3783 candidates has been selected for the mains exam of IES 2017. The commission will release the admit card for IES 2017 mains exam in April 2017. The IES mains exam will consist of two conventional type papers in engineering discipline and each paper will carry 300 marks. The result of IES 2017 mains exam will be declared June/July 2017. Candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the mains exam of IES 2017 will be called for the personality test. However, due weigtage will also be given to the marks secured by the candidates in the prelims exam for selection in the personality test.

 

 

The number of candidates to be called for the Personality Test will be about twice the number of vacancies. The final merit list of IES 2017 will be prepared on the basis marks obtained by the candidates in preliminary exam, mains exam and personality test. Candidates will be allotted to the various Group A services related to engineering keeping in view their ranks in the exam and the preference expressed by them for the various services/posts. Selected candidates will undergo training after which they will be posted as assistant engineer in various central government departments. IES 2017- Description

UPSC conducts the IES exam to recruit candidates for Group A posts in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering department of the government. This exam is one of the toughest exams in the country and is participated by large number of Engineering Graduates.

Features of UPSC IES 2017

  1. Engineering Services Examination is considered as the toughest exam in India.
  2. The written examination will be conducted in two tiers – Preliminary and Mains Examination.
  3. Candidates qualifying the preliminary examination will appear for the Mains Examination. Subsequently, the candidates qualifying the Mains will be called for the Personality Test.
  4. Marks obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Personality will determine the final ranking.
  5. The IES exam is conducted for recruitment of engineers to the services/posts in Indian Engineering Services -Indian Railways, Power, Central Water engineering, Defence service of Engineers, Telecommunications, Central Engineering Service, etc.
  6. The Exam is conducted in offline mode.
  7. Recruitment under this examination will be made to the services/posts under categories such as:

IES Result 2017     

UPSC has published the IES 2017 Result for the preliminary examination. The candidates who have scored marks as per the cutoff prescribed by UPSC will be eligible to appear for the mains examination. UPSC will publish the IES Result in three stages – Preliminary Exam. Mains Exam and Personality Test. Candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the Stage 1 (Preliminary Exam) and Stage 2 (Mains ) will be called for the stage 3 (Personality Test). Candidates will be provided final allotment on the basis of Stage 1 (Preliminary Exam), Stage 2 (Mains ) and stage 3 (Personality Test). However, the ranks obtained by the candidates will be given due consideration.

IES Cutoff 2017

Cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks which the candidates should secure for qualifying in each stage of recruitment. The IES Cutoff 2017 of each stage will be decided by the Commission. The Commission will decide the cutoff on the basis of the level of difficulty, number of candidates appeared for the exam, number of vacancies, level of competition etc.

IES Eligibility Criteria 2017

Nationality: The Candidates must be:

  • A citizen of India        
  • A citizen of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

Educational Qualification: The candidates applying for the IES 2017 exam should possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E. / B. Tech) from a recognised university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics,Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain services / posts only. The Candidates applying for the examination should be in  the age group of 21-30 years. However, relaxation will be provided to the candidates as per government norms.

IES Answer Key 2017

The Answer Key of IES Prelims Exam has been made available. Candidates who have appeared in the exam can check the Answer Key in the set A, B, C, D along with the question paper. Comparing the IES Answer Key 2017 will help the candidates to calculate their estimated score. It is advised that the candidates should choose the correct code or set to check the IES Answer Key 2017.

IES Selection Procedure 2017

The Selection Procedure of IES 2017 will include –Stage 1 Preliminary stage, Stage 2 Mains Examination and Stage 3 Personality Test. Candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission in the Preliminary stage is eligible to appear for the Mains stage. The marks of the Prelims and Mains Exam will determine the eligibility of the candidates for appearing in the Personality test. Final Selection will be made on the basis of all the three stages.

IES Application Form 2017

The candidates applying for IES 2017 is required to apply through online mode. The direct link to apply has been hosted on this page. The last date for submitting the IES Application Form 2017 was October 26, 2016. The Payment of Application Fees was available both through online and offline mode. The Application Fee for General Category Male candidate is Rs 200. While, female and the reserved category aspirants are exempted from paying the Application Fees. 

IES Exam Cities 2017

UPSC has released the list of Exam Cities for IES 2017 exam. There are two separate list of exam cities for Preliminary and Mains exam. Allotment of centres will be done on the first-apply-first allot basis and once the capacity of a particular centre is attained, the same will be frozen. It is advised that the candidates should apply early so that they could get a centre of their choice.

IES Admit Card 2017

UPSC will issue admit card for IES 2017 mains exam in April 2017. Candidates can download their admit card through roll number/registration number and password. Candidates shortlisted for the interview will only be able to download the IES admit card for the mains exam. No hard copy of the admit card will be sent to the candidates by post or any other mode. Candidates before downloading the IES admit card should check all the details printed in the same carefully. Candidates will have to produce their admit card to the invigilator on the day of exam along with photo identity proof. No candidates will be allowed to appear for the mains exam of IES 2017 without admit card.

IES Exam Pattern 2017

Exam Pattern helps the candidates to prepare well for the exam. The IES Exam Pattern 2017 provided here has been released by UPSC. The Exam Pattern has been divided into three sections – Preliminary, Mains and Interview. The Exam Pattern of IES 2017 will acquaint the candidates with the Number of Questions, Number of sections, total marks, time duration etc.
