Admissions into the private and public medical institutes will be done through NEET 2017. However, the state of Jammu and Kashmir (along with Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) will not be providing admissions to the All India 15% Quota Seats but instead will be conducting admissions for all state quota seats. All events of JK MBBS Admission 2017 will rely on the schedule of NEET 2017 since the admissions are based on the national level entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria of JK MBBS Admission 2017

There are some eligibility criteria set by the state that an applicant will need to fulfil in order to be eligible for admission into JK MBBS Admission 2017. The eligibility criteria as set by the state of Jammu and Kashmir are given below:

General Category: Applicants of the general category must secure minimum 50% marks taken together in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Reserved Category: Minimum 40% marks have to be secured by the applicants as an aggregate of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

6 Domicile Requirements
  • Applicants must be permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir as defined in Section 6 of the Constitution of J&K.
  • Must have passed higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a state recognized board/university.
  • Must have obtained 50% marks as aggregate in 10+2 examination in case of open merit category and 40% in aggregate for reserved categories.

Merit List of JK MBBS Admission 2017

The merit list of JK MBBS Admission 2017 will be released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The merit list released will consist of the names of the qualified applicants who can report for the counselling and seat allotment process. Scores secured by the applicant in NEET 2017 and his/her eligibility according to the state’s conditions are the major factors that will determine the merit list of JK MBBS Admission 2017. After checking the merit list released, the applicants can report at the BOPEE office at the allotted time for the application process.


Application Procedure of JK MBBS Admission 2017

The application form for the counselling session will be available offline. All applicants whose names are mentioned in the merit list released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be required to report to the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination office to fill up the counselling form and register themselves. The registration form will have to be filled up by the applicant personally. In the application form, the candidate will have to fill in his/her name along with mobile number and email ID. Options or preference of courses and colleges will have to be filled in by the applicants. The names will have to be filled in the order of preference.  The applicant is also required to pay the counselling fee. The form is to be submitted to the JKBOPEE office after which the counselling session will start for all eligible applicants.


Counselling Fee of JK MBBS Admission 2017

The applicants who are registering themselves for the admission procedure of JK MBBS 2017 will have to pay a counselling fee of Rs. 1000. The non-refundable payment of Rs. 1000 is to be done through POS machine at BOPEE office Jammu/Srinagar. However, in some cases where the BOPEE is satisfied on the basis of documentary proof that the applicant is an orphan or is living in poor condition, the fee may be refunded if he/she fails to take admission due to some unavoidable condition beyond his/her control.

Counselling of JK MBBS Admission 2017

The applicants will be notified of the counselling schedule through the official website. The schedule will be based on the ranking of the applicants in the merit list. All applicants are to note that no information regarding the schedule of the counselling session of JK MBBS Admission 2017 will be sent individually. All information will be available online. The counselling procedure will start tentatively in the 3rd week of July, 2017. All applicants will have to appear personally for the counselling session, however if due to some unavoidable circumstances, he/she fails to appear for the counselling session then an authorised representative may be sent by them with all the required original documents.

The allotment of seats will be done strictly on the basis of merit of eligible applicants determined by the rank obtained in NEET 2017. Applicants will be called in for counselling rank wise and allotted seats according to their preference and rank. Accordingly, all applicants will be allotted seats to various medical/dental institutes of Jammu and Kashmir.

If any applicant or his/her representative fails to attend the counselling session and wishes to attend the session next day, it is allowed. The applicant will need to pay Rs. 1750 as counselling fee (Rs. 1000 + Rs. 750 [Late Fee]) and he/she will be allotted an available seat according to his/her ranking. In case an applicant fails to attend his/her counselling, the seat will go to the next ranking candidate. The applicant will then get allotted to a seat which is available when he/she arrives for counselling.

When an applicant has been kept in the waiting list but his/her seat is not confirmed then he/she is entitled for a refund of their counselling fee.

The applicant has to join the allotted institute within the time specified. Failure to join the institute within the time period will disqualify the applicant. The second round of counselling will take place if there are still vacant seats left after the first round of counselling.
