Eligibility Criteria of Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017

2. Education Candidate must have completed their higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized institute.
3. Qualifying Marks To be eligible for the admission candidate must have passed individually in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.General- Aggregate of minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.SC/ST/OBC/PH- Aggregate of minimum 45% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

  • Candidate should be a bonafide resident of Punjab and should have studied for the last two years of the qualifying examination under a recognized Punjab Institution
  • Bonafide residents of Punjab who have passed their 10+2 examinations from a recognized school/Institution of Chandigarh (UT) is also eligible.
  • Children of Government/ State/Defense/Military parents are also eligible.

Application Procedure for Punjab MBBS 2017

Applications for Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017 will start tentatively from July, 2017. Candidates applying for MBBS courses in Punjab are advised to read the eligibility criteria before filling the application form to check whether they are eligible or not. It is compulsory for candidate to take part in Online counselling for the allotment of seat.

The following steps are needed to be followed by the candidate to fill the application form for Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017.

  1. Register for Punjab MBBS Admission 2017.
  2. After paying the fees, the candidates have to fill their NEET details given during the time of registration for NEET entrance examination.
  3. Candidates will then have to fill in their basic personal details- name, parents name, address etc.

Merit List of Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017

The merit list for counselling sessions for Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017 will be releasing in July 2017. The merit list will be released by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the basis of the NEET Scores. Candidates who have appeared in the Entrance Examinations and have secured the minimum required percentile will be called for the counselling process. The merit shall be considered by obtaining minimum percentile in NEET 2017 for all categories and the order of choices filled in by the candidate in the online application form.

Reservation of Seats for the Punjab MBBS Admissions

Out of total seats, 15% seats (All India Quota) in MBBS courses shall be filled by Government of India through centralized counselling by CBSE on the basis of merit in NEET 2017. The remaining 85% will be through the state held counselling for the Govt colleges and institutes. A number of seats are reserved for the candidate belonging to reserved category. Reserved candidates have to submit their valid official certificates to confirm their category while filling the application form online and during the counselling process.

Admission to Private Institutes

The distribution of seats in Private Medical Institutions shall be:

Counselling Procedure for the Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017

Candidates who have successfully secured the minimum qualifying marks in NEET 2017 will be called for the counselling process of Punjab MBBS Admission 2017. Online counselling will be conducted to admit candidates in MBBS courses by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.

The names of the candidates will be announced and shortlisted candidates will have to go for online counselling. The Seat Allotment will be based on the Merit List and the choices entered by the candidates.. After allotment of seats, candidates have to report to the allotted college for document verification and payment of fees. The following documents need to be brought at the allotted Institute for Document Verification by the candidate:

  1. Matric or Equivalent Certificate for Date of Birth.
  2. Mark sheet/Certificate of 10+2 (Senior School Certificate Examination) or its equivalent.
  3. NEET 2017 Admit Card and Score Card.
  4. SC/ST/OBC/PH Valid Certificate.
  5. Punjab Residence Certificate.
  6. Provisional Allotment Letter generated online.
  7. Bank Challan form for Online Payment of requisite Fee.
  8. After affixing, self-attested recent photograph regarding GAP year, if there is a GAP after 10+2 Examination.

There will be two online counselling and one physical counselling of Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017. After verification of all the documents and eligibility, Principal of the respective College will issue a Bank Challan for deposition of Tuition Fee at any branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce or HDFC Bank. After depositing the tuition fee, candidate will again report to the college for their joining and medical checkup.

In case, candidate wants to change/upgrade their seat they will have to participate in the subsequent round of counselling and give their preferences afresh for the college/course/category/quota.

If in case, candidate seat is upgraded/changed in the subsequent round of counselling and they have already deposited the fee, then they are not required to deposit the fees again, provided he/she has to deposit any difference in the fee, if any.

If any candidate wants to quit the course/seat, he/she have to submit the application to the respective college as well as to the University regarding their surrender of seat well in advance before start of next round of counselling.

The above given fees structure can be changed as per the Notification of the Government.

Tuition fees for the 1st year shall be paid to the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.

There are total 1150 seats offered by the Government/Private medical colleges for the Punjab MBBS Admissions 2017. Eligible candidates can appear for the counselling process which will be tentatively held in July 2017.
