Top Medical Colleges in Punjab 2016 – The Medical Colleges in Punjab are high rankers in All India Medical list and are very much popular amongst the medical aspirants in the state. The state presently offers number of Government and Private Medical Colleges. The highest ranked college is Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, which has also been ranked among the Top 5 Medical Colleges in India, with a state ranking of AAAA. Followed by Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana with state ranking AAA+ and Government Medical College, Amritsar with state ranking AAA.
Previously the admissions in the Medical Colleges in Punjab were made through the State Medical Entrance Examinations PMET. However, now as per the directives of Supreme Court in India, the admissions in the medical colleges will be done through NEET, conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education.

There are 10 government/private medical institutes available for medical aspirants in the state of Punjab. Students who are eligible for the criteria laid down by the state can apply for 1375 seats available in the various medical institutes existent in the state. All the medical aspirants have to appear for NEET examinations, as the admission will be based on NEET scores.
Out of 10 medical colleges, there are 3 medical government colleges offering 500 seats for the aspirants to go for government medical colleges. Out of the 3 government medical institutes, the top ranked college is Government Medical College, Amritsar followed by Government Medical College Patiala. 85% of the seats in the state will be for the students of Punjab while 15% will be under the All India Quota. All seats will be allotted on the basis of the NEET Scores of the applicants.
Admissions to these state quota seats will be for 50% of the seats in case of private medical colleges through the common counselling conducted by the state with the exception of the Christian Medical College Ludhiana.
There are total 7 private medical colleges in Punjab with 875 total numbers of seats. Candidates who fulfill the specified eligibility criteria can apply for private medical institutes. Christian Medical College, Ludhiana is ranked the top most medical college in the state. Another good private medical college for medical students is Adesh Institute for Medical Sciences and Research, Bhatinda.
