The Veterinary Council of India (VCI) has cancelled the All India Pre Veterinary Test –AIPVT 2017 and decided to consider NEET 2017 score for admission to 15% All India quota seats in B.V.Sc. & AH degree course. In the notice, VCI has said that AIPVT 2017 will not be conducted due to administrative reasons and asked candidates to appear in NEET 2017 to be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 7, 2017.
According to the notice, admission to approximately 480 All India quota seats in Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & AH) will be done on the basis on NEET 2017 score.
The VCI has released notification regarding cancellation of AIPVT 2017 on February 20, 2017 which is 10 days from the last date to apply for NEET. The process to submit online applications for NEET 2017 is currently underway but will end on March 1, 2017. The decision regarding cancellation of AIPVT 2017 has worried many candidates as they have only 4 days left to register for NEET 2017.
Still, candidates have time to register for NEET UG 2017 but many of them will face problem as CBSE has made Aadhaar card detail mandatory while applying.
Considering the issue, CBSE may extend the last date to apply for NEET because nearly 70 thousand candidates take AIPVT every year for pursuing bachelor degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry.
AIPVT is national level entrance exam conducted by VCI for admission to government quota seats (15% All India Quota seats) in Veterinary Colleges in India (except from Jammu & Kashmir State). Last year, a total of 84,012 were registered and 72,534 candidates appeared out of which 71,575 had qualified the examination.
