NEET 2017 result has been declared by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Along with the result, the CBSE has also announced the cutoff marks. Out of 11,38,890 candidates who had appeared for NEET 2017, close to 50% candidates have failed to qualify the exam. As per the data, the total number of candidates who have qualified the NEET 2017 exam is 6,11,739. Navdeep Singh from Punjab has topped the exam.
NEET Cutoff Scores
Cutoff scores are the minimum qualifying marks that the candidates must obtain to be eligible for the counselling rounds. In 2017, in the General Category, the cutoff marks range has seen a marginal increase. In 2016, the upper cutoff marks range for General Category candidates was 685. On the basis of NEET 2017 result, the candidates have been shortlisted for MBBS and BDS courses offered by medical colleges across the country. The counselling of NEET 2017 for All India Quota (AIQ) seats will be conducted for allotment of 15% (nearly 13,000)of MBBS and BDS seats. It must be noted that the NEET result was marred by several controversies this year. Several petitions were filed by the students in different courts. Acting on one of these petitions, the Madras High Court restrained the CBSE from declaring the result. However, the Supreme Court of India removed the stay on June 12 and asked the CBSE to publish the results by June 26. Following the SC order, the CBSE published the Answer Key on June 15 and has announced the result on June 23, 2017.
Navdeep Singh from Punjab has topped the NEET 2017 exam. He is a student of Helix Institute in Chandigarh. Navdeep is not the only candidate who features in the NEET 2017 toppers list. Two other candidates – Nikita Goyal (AIR 8) and Tanisha Bansal (AIR 10) are among the top 10 candidates from Punjab.
