Tuesday, on January 10, 2017, the Members of Tamil Nadu Government Doctors’ Association, Thoothukudi, protested against NEET and NEXT. The agitation was held in the premises of Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital, raising slogans for withdrawal of National-Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test and fulfilling of other demands.
The president of the Association, P.Kumaran, led the agitation. He claimed that the authorities are formulating National Medical Commission, after doing away with Medical Council of India but it is not in favour of the doctors.
Apart from the removal of NEET 2017, the protested also demanded that scrapping of the National Exit Test (NEXT) as well.
Since NEET has been revived, the shadow of controversy has encircled it. Last year, a lot happed in a row and same seems to continue this year as well. The announcement for the NEET 2017 has already been delayed and candidates are heating up under the stress.
NEXT is the exist examination. Future, the medical aspirants will not receive their MBBS degree until they qualify it. Much agitation is begin witnessed against both the examination. One being the entrance examination and other being the exit test will play a crucial role in shaping up the future of the medical aspirants in the country.
