catCAT 2017: The Question Paper and Objection Form of CAT 2017 is available for candidates who appeared in CAT 2017 on November 26, 2017. The deadline to submit objection form has been set as 2 p.m on December 09, 2017. IIM Lucknow conducted the Common Admission Test 2017 in computer-based mode at 140 test cities across the country. The exam was held in two slots - forenoon and afternoon. Over 2.31 lakh candidates have registered to take CAT 2017. The admit card of CAT 2017 became available from October 25 and candidates were meant to download it online by entering user id and password. CAT mock tests were released by IIM Lucknow on October 30 to give candidates a fair idea of the exam pattern and types of questions asked in the exam. CAT 2017 was a three-hour test which had 100 Multiple Choice and Non-Multiple Choice questions spread across three sections, namely Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability (QA). CAT 2017 Admit Card

Candidates who have successfully submitted the CAT 2017 application form before the end date has been issued the admit card. The CAT 2017 admit card is an important document that provides details about the candidate, address of the exam venue, timings of the test, details about the test, etc. The CAT 2017 hall ticket is available only in online mode and the exam conducting body won't be sending any hard copy of the admit card via mail or courier. On the day of the test, candidates must make sure to carry the CAT 2017 admit card to the exam centre. The invigilator will ask for it and only after producing it, will the candidate be allowed to enter the examination hall. Even after the test, it is advised candidates keep their admit card safely. The CAT 2017 admit card will provide the following details

  • Name and Date of Birth of Candidates.
  • Candidates Registration Number.
  • Category of the Candidates.
  • Address of the Examination Venue.
  • Date and Timing of the Test.
  • Test System Number.

CAT 2017 Exam Pattern

Since 2009, CAT is being held as a computer-based test. There will be a total of 100 questions divided into 3 sections. CAT 2017 will contain both Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) as well as non-MCQs. For each section, candidates will be provided with 60 minutes and the total duration of the test is 180 minutes. The various sections of CAT 2017 are

  • Quantitative Ability (QA)
  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VRC)
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR)

CAT maintains the reputation of bringing changes in its admission or test pattern. Although, there are unlikely to be any major changes in the exam pattern of CAT 2017, candidates must stay prepared for a few changes. CAT 2017 Syllabus

CAT 2017 Exam Centres

CAT 2017 will be held at test centers across 140 cities. Over the years, the number of CAT exam centre have increased consistently. Each year, more cities are added to the list of examination centres to make things convenient for candidates. Last year, CAT was conducted in 138 cities across India. Here, it must be noted that candidates can choose up to 4 examination centres at the time of filling the CAT 2017 application form. Based on their choices, exam centres are allotted to the candidates.

CAT Exam Day Guidelines 2017

With just a few days left for CAT 2017, its imperative for candidates to go through the exam day guidelines prescribed by the exam conducting body. Candidates are advised to follow CAT exam day guidelines to avoid any chaos or confusion before the exam. Here are the list of CAT exam day guidelines 2017.

  • Aspirants whose exam is slated in the forenoon session should reach the exam centre at 7.30 am. Those appearing the afternoon session should reach at 1 pm.

  • Candidates should take their CAT admit card along with photo-identity proof without which they will not be allowed to take the test.

  • Cellphones, electronics, watches, calculators, wallets, goggles are not allowed inside the examination hall.

  • Rough pad and pen will be provided to the candidates therefore any kind of stationaries are not allowed inside the examination hall.

CAT Exam Analysis 2017

CAT exam analysis will be released by coaching institutes like TIME, Career Launcher, VistaMind, Bulls Eye after completion of each slot. CAT exam analysis will help candidates to get an idea of the overall and sectional difficulty of the exam, topics, distribution of questions and marks as per topics and sections.

CAT Answer Key 2017

CAT answer key 2017 contain correct answers to questions asked from different sections - Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability (QA). Cross-verifying the answers from CAT answer key candidates will be able to calculate probable score based on the number of correct and incorrect. The answer key is released for pen and paper based test but CAT is a computer based exam and questions asked in the exam are not disclosed by the examination authority or coaching institutes. Moreover, candidates have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement at the time of application where they cannot disclose any matter related to CAT. If any coaching institutes releases the memory based answer key, the same will be provided here. CAT Answer Key will not be released by the exam conducting body. Moreover, the coaching institutes.

CAT Cutoff 2017

CAT cutoff is released by some of the IIMs. Test takers must note that these cutoff scores are the minimum marks required to get shortlisted for the counselling rounds. For each Institute, the cut-off scores varies. Also, along with the category of candidates, the cut-off scores differ. While preparing the cut-off scores, the following factors are considered

  • The difficulty level of the examination.

  • The total number of candidates appeared for the test.

  • The number of seats available.

  • Reservation policy of the Institute.

CAT 2017 Result

CAT 2017 results will be available online and test takers are required to log in with their User ID and Password. Results will provide the score and percentile (sectional & overall) along with details of the candidate. Test takers are required to take a print out of the result for future reference. After the announcement of CAT 2017 results, the various IIMs will release their list of shortlisted candidates for the pre-admission rounds. Only those candidates having obtained the minimum required cut-off scores will be eligible for the Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test (WAT) rounds. Candidates must keep their CAT 2017 score card safe until the conclusion of the counseling rounds.

CAT 2017 Selection Procedure

Each participating institute has its own selection process. The candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their CAT 2017 cut-off scores. In most of the institutes, the shortlisted candidates have to appear for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Some of the institutes also conduct Group Discussion (GD).

The IIMs follow a rigorous selection process to ensure that only the best candidates are selected. Over the last few years, the GD round has been replaced by WAT round in some of the IIMs. Apart from CAT 2017 and GD/ WAT/ PI scores, the IIMs and other B-Schools may take into consideration the following factors while selecting the candidates

  • Past academic record
  • Work experience
  • Extra-curricular activities

CAT 2017 Participating Institutes

The CAT is primarily conducted for admissions to the various MBA programmes offered by the 20 IIMs. The exam is conducted by the IIMs on a rotational basis. However, CAT scores are accepted by more than 100 management institutes across the country. These include both government and private institutes. CAT 2017 Application Form

CAT 2017 online registration ended on September 25. The CAT application form for 2017 was Rs. 1800 (SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 900), payable online through credit/debit card, net banking, cash card and wallet. The application form covers two stages. First stage includes online registration to get the login id and password while the second stage includes filling up the application form by entering personal and academic details among others. Step 3: Enter academic and professional (work experience) details.

Step 4: Select the management programmes and exam city

CAT application form 2017: Correction Window

The CAT correction window is open for a period of three days. Candidates can make changes to their application form within this three-day period. Candidates can correct limited details such as percentage or marks, work experience, programme name and interview city.After the three-day CAT application correction window closes no changes will be entertained by the examination authority.

Except the year 2013 when the number of applicants reduced by around 20,000, the number of CAT applicants has only gone up consistently since 2010. CAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants must make it a point to fulfill entire CAT 2017 eligibility criteria. In case they fail to meet any of them, they risk being disqualified on or before counseling. Hence, it is advisable that they check for complete CAT eligibility criteria and understand all the norms.

 CAT 2017 Reservation Norms

All 20 IIMs abide by the reservation norms prescribed by the Government of India. Seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD). Candidates applying for CAT 2017 under the reserved category are required to upload necessary documents and also produce the same at the time of admissions.
