CAT Eligibility Criteria 2017
Candidates applying for CAT 2017 must be a graduate from recognized university with at least 50% marks if they are from general category and 45% if they belong to for SC/ST/PwD category. Candidates with professional qualifications such as CA/CS/ICWA are also eligible to apply. Also, candidates appearing for the final year of the graduation or other qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.

Steps to fill CAT Application Form 2017
As mentioned earlier, candidates are required to register for the test before accessing the CAT application form. The candidates fulfilling all the eligibility norms can follow the steps to fill in the CAT 2017 application form –
Step 1 – Registration: In the registration form of CAT, applicants are required to enter their name, date of birth, email address and mobile number. The name of the candidate must be same as it appears on their Class 10/SSC certificate while the email address and mobile number must remain active until the conclusion of the admission process. Also, while entering the mobile number, candidates are not allowed to enter any special character. After entering all the necessary details, applicants are required to read the declaration section and click on ‘I Agree’ check box if they agree with the terms and the click on the ‘Submit’ button.
On successful registration, candidates will receive the CAT User ID on their registered email address and Password as SMS on their mobile number. Also, a CAT application form link will be available in their email.
Candidates must remember that the information submitted here cannot be changed. Hence, the candidates must make sure that there are no errors in the details provided here.
Step 2 – login: With the provided CAT login credentials, candidates can access the application form by clicking on the link provided above. The application form of CAT is divided into 5 sections, which are Personal Details, Academics, Work Experience, Programmes and Payment. Before filling the application form, candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully.
Step 3 – Enter Personal Details: First, candidates are required to enter their personal details such as Father’s/Husband’s/Guardian’s Name, Mother’s Name (as applicable). Candidates who have an Aadhar card are required to enter their Aadhar number in the application form. Then, they are required to select their gender, Caste or Tribe category, nationality and select ‘Yes’ if they are Person with Disability.
Now, applicants are required to enter their postal address. Candidates can also provide an alternate email address and mobile number here.
In this section, candidates are required to upload the scanned image of their recent passport size photograph and signature. Also, applicants applying under the reserved category are required to upload all the necessary documents to support their reservation.

Note: On the day of the test, the candidates are required to paste the same photograph provided in the admit card.
Step 4 – Enter Academic Details: Here, candidates are required to education details (as applicable to them) such as –
- Class 10 or SSC/Equivalent Information
- Class 12 or SSC/Equivalent/Diploma Course Details
- Graduation Details
- Post Graduation Details
- Other Professional Degree Details
Step 5 – Work Experience: The applicants who are still working or have worked full time after their graduation are required to fill this particular section. Here, candidates are required to click on the check boxes against the provided ‘Industry Type’ and enter their work experience in months.
Step 6 – Programmes: Candidates are required to select the Programmes Names and the Interview city for that particular programme. The list of Interview city will be provided in the drop down list. It must be noted that candidates applying for PGP/PGDM courses at IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Tiruchirappalli and IIM Udaipur are required to select the same interview city for all the selections.
Candidates can select up to 4 test cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. Out of the 4 selected cities, the exam authorities will allot one of them in either of the two sessions. If the exam authorities are unable to allot any of the preferred city, then a nearby city will be allotted to the candidates. The address of the CAT exam centres will be provided on the admit card.
Note: In the CAT Application Form, candidates cannot select the same city for more than once.
Step 7 – Payment: The candidates belonging to the unreserved and NC – OBC category are required to pay a fee of Rs. 1800 only while the SC/ST/PwD category candidates are required to pay Rs. 900 only. The application fee can be paid via Credit Card, Debit Card or Internet Banking. Also, apart from the application fee amount, the candidates are also required to pay additional transactional charges. The details about the transactional charges are provided in the table below.

Track CAT Application Status
After the completion of the CAT application process, candidates can check the status of their application form. Here, the applicants will be able to know whether their CAT application form is being successfully submitted or not. Only the candidates whose CAT 2017 application form are successfully submitted will be able to appear for the exam.

CAT Application Summary
On successful submission of the CAT application form, a confirmation mail will be sent to the registered email address of the candidates. Also, the email will also contain communication details of the CAT Admit Card window.
