CAT Previous Year Question Papers – Benefits of Solving

Solving the CAT question papers will help the candidates to know their preparation level. Moreover, after solving a paper, they must analyze their answers to get familiar with the topics in which they are weak. Some other benefits of solving CAT previous year question papers and other points to be noted while solving are –

While solving the papers, the candidates need to do the same, freely. After solving a few sample papers, they can raise the standard by solving previous year question papers and writing mock tests.

  • It is advisable to keep a track of the time while solving the papers so that they can solve the paper within 3 hours (duration of CAT). This practice will help the candidates to manage the time during the examination.
  • Solving the CAT question papers regularly will definitely help the candidates to get familiar with the test pattern and sections.
  • Also, solving the question papers regularly will help them to understand the difficulty level of the topics.

CAT Exam Pattern 2017

As mentioned above, the test will be held in a computer-based mode and the total marks of the test is 300. There will be a total of 100 questions and candidates will be provided 180 minutes to complete the test. For each section, a total of 60 minutes will be provided and candidates cannot move from one section to the other without completing the time. The questions will be divided into 3 sections, which are –

  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC),
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and
  • Quantitative Ability (QA).
