IIFT 2018: The written exam of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was conducted on on December 3 across 20 cities. Over 50,000 candidates have appeared in the exam. According to IIFT exam analysis, the paper was difficult than last year. There has been change in the IIFT exam pattern with six sections. The exam carried questions from english Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Analysis. Candidates were given 120 minutes to attempt all the questions, marks allotted for the test was 100. IIFT answer key has been released by coaching institutes. IIFT 2018 result of written test will be declared in the last week of December. On the basis of marks obtained in written test, candidates will be called for Writing Skills Assessment (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Interview to be conducted in January or February 2018. Candidates will be offered admission to both the campuses based on their performance in written test, WAT, GD and Interview. There are 220 seats in Delhi campus while that for Kolkata campus there are 140 seats. IIFT is still waiting for UGC’s approval of its Kakinada campus in Andhra Pradesh and classes in the campus is expected to commence soon. Note: A new campus of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh is expected to start within three years. However, the institute is waiting for the approval of UGC and the classes will commence soon.
The written test was conducted across 20 IIFT exam centres. The WAT, GD and Interview will be conducted at eight cities. Candidates had to enter their preferences of IIFT exam centres while filling the application form. The option to change the exam centre was available till November 3, 2017 on payment of Rs 1000. WAT, GD and Interview will be conducted in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.
IIFT admit card is available online only. Candidates whose applications have been accepted for IIFT entrance test has been issued admit cards. To download IIFT admit card candidates have to enter their name and application number. The admit card have candidate’s details, address, time and date of exam. Candidates should bring the printout of IIFT admit card along with any of the photo-identity proof such as Passport, Election I-Card, Aadhaar card, Driving License, PAN card or College I-Card to the examination centre on the day of exam. The application fee for IIFT is non-refundable. Candidates can pay the fee via online as well as offline mode. To pay the application fee online, candidates can opt for Credit Card or Debit Card. In order to make payments via offline mode, candidates are required to draw a Demand Draft in favour of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade payable at New Delhi.
The entrance test will be held in a paper-based mode and the question booklet will contain Multiple Choice Questions. The total number of questions is not fixed and duration of the test is 120 minutes. The questions will be divided into 4 sections and candidates can expect around 124 128 questions. The marking scheme of each of the sections varies from each other. Also, the marks per question will vary, however, one-third of the marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. The total marks of the test are 100 only. Last year, there was a total of 123 questions and difficulty level of the test was moderate.

The result of IIFT 2018 will be available online and the Institute wont be sending scorecards via mail or courier to the candidates registered address. The result will provide the list of candidates shortlisted for Essay Writing, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. After the conclusion of the pre-admission rounds, the final merit list will be prepared. The final selection list will be available in pdf format and the name of candidate, roll number and application number. The Institute will release the cutoff scores after considering various factors such as the total number of test takers, the difficulty level of the test, the number of seats, etc. The cutoff scores will be applied to screen the candidates in the second stage of admission process. Only the candidates who qualify the minimum cutoff marks will be allotted a seat according to their preference and merit. However, the cutoff marks will vary with the campus and category of the candidate. It is expected that the cutoff scores will remain similar to that of the previous year.
Last year, 1973 candidates were shortlisted for written test, group discussion and personal interview. Here, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their IIFT 2018 score. These shortlisted candidates must participate in the Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The final result will be the list of shortlisted candidates for admission rounds.
