IIFT 2018 – The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has released the application form for the entrance test. This year, the IIFT 2018 application form is available in online mode only. For MBA in International Business, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is considered as one of the premier institutes. Every year, around 45,000 management aspirants apply for the IIFT entrance test. There is a sharp rise in demand of MBA (IB) graduates in the market, thus, leading to increase in the rise of IIFT applicants. The test will be held in a paper-based mode for admission to the Delhi campus (220 seats) and Kolkata campus (140 seats). IIFT is still waiting for UGC’s approval of its Kakinada campus in Andhra Pradesh. It is expected that the classes in Kakinada campus will commence soon. There will be a total of 124 Multiple Choice Questions in the question booklet and the candidates will be provided 120 minutes. Note: A new campus of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh is expected to start within three years. However, the institute is waiting for the approval of UGC and the classes will commence soon.
The candidates applying for Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (Two-Year MBA in International Business) – Full Time, must make sure that the candidates fulfil all the eligibility norms. If candidates fail to fulfil all the eligibility norms of the test, then they will be disqualified on or before the counselling rounds.
- The candidates must be a graduate (minimum 3 years duration) in any discipline from a recognized University.
- Candidates in the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. However, these candidates are required to provide the proof of their qualification before the course starts i.e. beginning of October.
- There no age criteria for the test.

Candidates can access the application form of IIFT 2018 in online mode only. However, candidates must make sure they fulfil all the eligibility norms before applying for the test. While filling in the application form, candidates must make sure that they enter all the details correctly. IIFT Online Application Form – With the availability of the application form, candidates can follow the steps provided below to apply online –
- Step 1: Click on the link provided on this page.
- Step 2: Select the Category under which the candidate will apply.
- Step 3: Enter all the required details to register. On successful registration, candidates will receive the application number on their registered email ID.
- Step 4: Login with the application number and password to access the application form.
- Step 5: Pay the requisite application fee.
- Steps 6: On completion of the application process, a confirmation mail will be sent to the candidate’s email ID.
IIFT 2018 Application Fee
The application fee for IIFT is non-refundable. Candidates can pay the fee via online as well as offline mode. To pay the application fee online, candidates can opt for Credit Card or Debit Card. In order to make payments via offline mode, candidates are required to draw a Demand Draft in favour of “Indian Institute of Foreign Trade” payable at New Delhi.
While filling in the application form, candidates will be able to select the test cities according to their preference. While entering the test city, candidates must make sure that the place is convenient to travel so that they can reach the examination centre on time. On the day of the test, candidates are required to reach the venue on time along with the admit card and a valid photo ID. To change the provided test centre, candidates are required to submit a valid reason. Also, to change the exam centre, a time-period will be provided.
If the candidates are not satisfied with the allotted examination centre, then they can make a request to change the test centre. The fee for changing the allotted test centre is Rs. 1000 only.
The entrance test will be held in a paper-based mode and the question booklet will contain Multiple Choice Questions. The total number of questions is not fixed and duration of the test is 120 minutes. The questions will be divided into 4 sections and candidates can expect around 124 – 128 questions. The marking scheme of each of the sections varies from each other. Also, the marks per question will vary, however, one-third of the marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. The total marks of the test are 100 only. Last year, there was a total of 123 questions and difficulty level of the test was moderate.

There is no definite syllabus for IIFT, however, after analysing various sample papers and previous year question papers, the questions are mainly asked from 3 different sections, which are –
- English Language,
- General Knowledge & Awareness, and
- Logical Reasoning & Quantitative Analysis.

The admit card for IIFT will be available in online mode as well as the offline mode and will be issued only to those candidates who have submitted the application form within the end date. The hall ticket will contain details about the candidate, address of exam venue, timings, rules of the examination, etc. The Institute will also send the admit card to the registered address of the candidates via post. To download the admit card online, candidates are required to enter their name and application number. On downloading the hall ticket, candidates must check the details printed on it and make sure they are error free. In the case of any error in the admit card details, candidates must inform the exam officials to rectify the error.
Candidates must note that if they fail to carry the hall ticket to the examination hall on the day of the test, then they will not be allowed to enter the exam hall and write the test.
The result of IIFT 2018 will be available online and the Institute won’t be sending scorecards via mail or courier to the candidate’s registered address. The result will provide the list of candidates shortlisted for Essay Writing, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. After the conclusion of the pre-admission rounds, the final merit list will be prepared. The final selection list will be available in pdf format and the name of candidate, roll number and application number. The Institute will release the cutoff scores after considering various factors such as the total number of test takers, the difficulty level of the test, the number of seats, etc. The cutoff scores will be applied to screen the candidates in the second stage of admission process. Only the candidates who qualify the minimum cutoff marks will be allotted a seat according to their preference and merit. However, the cutoff marks will vary with the campus and category of the candidate. It is expected that the cutoff scores will remain similar to that of the previous year.
Last year, 1973 candidates were shortlisted for written test, group discussion and personal interview. Here, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their IIFT 2018 score. These shortlisted candidates must participate in the Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The final result will be the list of shortlisted candidates for admission rounds. This list will be prepared on basis of candidate’s performance in IIFT 2018 entrance test, Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
