IIM Admission Criteria 2018 – Every year, 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) announce their admission criteria on the basis of which aspirants are selected for around 4000 postgraduate management seats. IIM Bangalore and Ahmedabad has released its shortlist for next round of selection process. IIM admission criteria 2018 has already been announced by IIM Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Lucknow and Indore. For the 2018-20 batch, IIMs shortlist candidates on the basis of CAT 2017 scores. As per the IIM admission criteria 2018, candidates who meet the qualifying cutoffs are shortlisted for the next rounds of admission which comprise Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). CAT result 2017 has been released online on January 8, 2018. On the basis of their overall performance, a final list of selected candidates is prepared. IIMs follow a rigorous admission process to select the best talent. Candidates are judged on a variety of skills. The admission criteria of IIMs can be divided into three main stages described below -
In the first stage, MBA aspirants have to appear for CAT 2017 aptitude test. Every year, CAT is conducted by IIMs on a rotational basis and this year it is being conducted by IIM Lucknow. The exam was held in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode on November 26, 2017. Candidates could fill the CAT application form from August 9 to September 20, 2017. In the IIM admission criteria 2018, some of the IIMs have already announced the qualifying CAT cut offs. Candidates must satisfy the overall and sectional CAT cutoff requirements to be eligible for the next rounds of admission.
The stage two comprises Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). As per the IIM admission process 2018, candidates will be shortlisted for these rounds on the basis of CAT scores and other important factors such as -
IIMs assign specific weightage to each of the factors mentioned above. The weights assigned differ between the IIMs. For example, IIM Lucknow will give more weightage to CAT 2017 scores. IIM Indore, on the other hand, will focus more on the academic background of the candidates.

Various IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore and Calcutta have announced their admission criteria for 2018-20 batch. Read the information given below to know about the IIM admission criteria 2018 of the following institutes.
As per the IIM admission criteria 2018 released by IIM Ahmedabad, general category candidates must have an overall percentile of 80 or above to be eligible for the next rounds of admission. Also, candidates must meet the sectional IIM Ahmedabad CAT cutoff which is 70 for each section. To shortlisted candidates for Academic Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI), IIM Ahmedabad will recognise exceptional performers in terms of their previous academic records and their performance in CAT 2017.
As per IIM admission criteria 2018 released by IIM Calcutta, general category candidates must have an overall percentile of 90 or above and sectional percentile of 80 or above. In the second stage of admission process, IIM Calcutta will calculate composite scores after taking into consideration various factors such as CAT 2017 scores, marks in Class 10th/ 12th, and gender diversity. For preparation of final merit list, the highest weightage will be assigned to Personal Interview followed by CAT 2017 score, WAT, work experience and academic diversity.
IIM Lucknow has announced the admission criteria for PGP, PGP-ABM and PGP-SM programmes. Candidates with 90+ percentile and 85+ sectional percentiles in CAT 2017 will be considered for the next rounds of admission which comprise WAT and PI. IIML will calculate composite scores to shortlist candidates for WAT and PI. Performance in CAT 2017 will play a major role in the calculation of composite scores in stage two. Class 12th marks, graduation marks, work experience and diversity (gender and academic) factors will also be taken into account for calculation of composite scores. Similarly, final scores will be calculated after taking into consideration a number of factors such as WAT score, PI score, work experience etc.
As per the IIM admission criteria released by IIM Indore, the institute will focus more on the academic background while shortlisting the candidates for WAT and PI rounds. However, only those candidates who have an overall percentile of 90 and sectional percentile of 80 will be eligible for WAT and PI. For final score, maximum weightage will be assigned to PI (40%) followed by WAT (20%), CAT 2017 score (20%), Class 10th marks (10%) and Class 12th marks (10%). After the calculation of final scores, a merit list will be prepared and the candidates will be offered admissions in PGP programme.
IIM Sambalpur Admission Criteria 2018 consists of – appearing in the CAT 2017 exam, shortlisting for Personal Appearance (PA) process, conducting the PA process that comprises Written Analysis (WA) and Personal Interview (PI) and preparing the final selection list based on CAT score, performance in PA and profile. The institute will give 55 % weightage to CAT score, 20% to WA and PI and 25 % for profile.
IIM Ranchi has announced the admission criteria for PGDM 2018-20 batch. Candidates will be offered admission based on their performance in CAT 2017, written ability test (WAT) and personal interview (PI), profile. Specific weigtages are assigned to these factors to arrive at the merit list. IIM Ranchi will give 30 % weightage to CAT score, 10 % to WAT, 30 % to PI and profile 30 %.
Candidates as IIM Raipur Admission Criteria will be shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) based on CAT 2017 percentile. Final admission will be offered to candidates on CAT, PI and WAT score and profile. The institute will give 32 % weightage to CAT score, 30 % WAT & PI and 38 % profile.
IIM Nagpur has announced the admission criteria for PGP 2018-20 batch. The batch size of the institute is 60. According to IIM Nagpur Admission Criteria 2018 candidates will be shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) based on CAT 2017 cutoff. Final admission to IIM Nagpur will be provided based on Past Academic Performance (PAP), Work Experience (WE), performance in Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017, PI and WAT.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has announced the admission criteria. Candidates are selected for next round of selection process based on CAT percentile. The final admission is offered based on CAT scores, WAT, PI and interview, previous academic records and work experience.
IIM Amritsar includes two-stage selection process. According to IIM Amritsar admission criteria 2018-20, the first stage involves shortlisting for writing ability test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on CAT percentile and eligibility criteria. The second stage of IIM Amritsar admission criteria 2018 includes preparation of shortlist based on CAT 2017, performance in PI and WAT. IIM Sirmaur has announced its admission criteria for PGP batch 2018-20. IIM Sirmaur admission criteria 2018 involves two stages - shortlisting for WAT and PI and final selection. First candidates will be shortlisted for WAT and PI based on CAT percentile. After completion of WAT and PI, final selection will be done based on CAT, WAT and PI score, academic profile, work experience and diversity. A composite score will be arrived after assigning weightage to these factors.

IIMs consider CAT scores to shortlist candidates for 2018-20 batches. CAT cutoff is the minimum percentile that the candidates must score to be eligible for the next rounds of admissions in IIMs. Each IIM releases category-wise qualifying CAT cut off every year.
