IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2017 -19 – The candidates who have appeared in Common Aptitude Test (CAT) 2016 can apply for admission in Indian Institutes Management of Kozhikode 2017 -19 by fulfilling the admission criteria set by the IIM – K. The candidates must however, submit their certificates of their bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification by June 30, 2017. There are about 353 seats available for PGP admission in the institute. The selection will be done on the basis of the CAT 2016 Result, academic record, essay writing, profile evaluation and personal interview. Candidates have to register online for admission and fulfill the eligibility norms. The first stage is done by shortlisting candidates for PI/WAT/GD list which is based on the CAT 2016, Class XII , Bachelor’s marks and work experience .The candidates who have successfully managed to clear the first round will be called for WAT/GD/PI. IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2017-19

IIM Kozhikode conducts two stages for offering admission to Post Graduate Degree in the institute. The candidates must fulfil the IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria given for both Stages. The details are given below:

IIM Kozhikode Stage 1 (Shortlisting candidates)

Evaluation of Stage 1 scores

  • Before appearing in this stage all candidates must be eligible according to the above criteria and registered online for admission to IIM Kozhikode.
  • Such candidates will be shortlisted for Personal Interview first and then called for WAT/GI followed by a PI.
  • The shortlisting for each category will be based on the Aggregate Index Score(AIS) which is a computed based selection on the marks obtained in CAT 2016, XII standard and Bachelor’s degree marks and work experience.
  • The weightage of each of the above in the AIS is given in the table below:

Details of Stage 1

CAT 2016 Score – The scores from both the sections having equal weights of CAT 2016 will be done for calculation of CAT 2016 performance of all candidates and thus they will be selected for admission process carrying weightage of 75%.

Class XII Marks/Equivalent marks – The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in their Higher Secondary School/XII exam/equivalent/diploma will calculated by taking into account of all the aggregate marks of all the subjects mentioned in the marksheets and grade sheets whichever is applicable. Below is the Class XII Index Scores to be calculated for admission in the IIM Kozhikode.

Bachelor Degree Marks – The marks of the candidates who have completed their graduation according to their individual mark sheets will be calculated for admission. If the percentage is not given in the mark sheets then the marks will be calculated on the basis of the marks obtained in all the subjects.The candidates must follow the below given Graduation Index Score that will calculated for admission

Work Experience – There are marks for the candidates who have worked previously or having professional experience as on January 31, 2017 will be given 5% weight for admission for their work experience. Candidates must note that only full time managerial work experience after graduation will be considered. Part Time/project/Internship/articleship/pre-graduation work experience will not be counted. Only work experience of 6 months or above will be considered eligible for work experience. Below is the Work Experience Score Index on the basis of which candidates will be given scores.


Diversity Score – 5% marks will be awarded for both the gender diversity and academic diversity will be considered eligible. However, a candidate is entitled to diversity score of 5% either from gender diversity or academic diversity. Only those candidates who will hold a Graduation except B.Tech/BE will be eligible for academic diversity score.

IIM Kozhekode Admission Criteria Stage 2

  • After completion of the Stage 1, the shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion (GD)/ Written Ability Test (WAT) that will be followed by a Personal Interview (PI). The Stage 2 will be conducted for a half-day (morning/afternoon) session where the candidates have to write a short essay and participate in group discussion after which they will be called for PI.
  • The topics wll be announced on the spot for GD/WAT. Generally the topics are based on current political, economic, sports, business affairs, etc.
  • In the Interview session, the panel will evaluate the academic background, quality of work experience and other personal traits of each candidate

Evaluation of the Final Scores

The final scores will be calculated after the PI and GD/WAT are computed that will be based on CAT 2016 score, Personal Interview, Group Discussions (GD)/ Written Ability Test (WAT) and quality of work experience.

 Important Information on IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2017-19

  • Satisfying the eligibility criteria does not qualify candidates to be shortlisted for Stage 1 of admission.
  • The IIM-K will follow the reservation policy set by the Government of India.
  • The names of the shortlisted candidates will be made available on the website Of IIM Kozhikode in the last week of January 2017.
  • The shortlisted candidates must download the call letters, venue and details that will be available of the IIM-K website.
  • Only the registered candidates can attend the PI, GD/WAT.
  • The merit list will also be prepared by following the Government Policy. The hard copy of the admission offers will be sent to the candidates who have send the acceptance form with the payment details to the conducting body.
  • Limited number of candidates will be kept in the waiting list. If any seats are vacant then the candidates from the waiting list will be considered.
  • It is important for all the candidates to produce all the certificates at the time of verification in PI and GD/WAT. Candidates who fail to produce or any discrepancies found in the certificate will lead to disqualification of the candidate from attending PI.
