IIT Kanpur offers 78 seats in MBA programme. IIT Kanpur MBA admission 2018 will be conducted on the basis of Common Admission Test (2017). MBA aspirants who wish to pursue MBA programme from IIT Kanpur must appear for CAT 2017 which will be held on November 26, 2017. After the announcement of CAT result in the second week of January 2018, the process of IIT Kanpur MBA admission 2018 will start. IIT Kanpur MBA Eligibility Criteria 2018

Before filling the application form for IIT Kanpur MBA programme, candidates must ensure that they fulfill the required eligibility criteria.

Eligibility for General Category candidates

1) 65% and above (55% for SC/ ST candidates) in Class 10th and 12th exam

2) B.Tech or B.E. or B.Arch. (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII) 
   or 
Four-year degree program leading to B. Sc. Engineering (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program)
   or
Four-year degree program leading to Bachelor of Science degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program)
  or
Master of Science (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program)
  or
Master of Arts in Economics (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program) with aggregate of 65% (55% for SC/ ST candidates) or a CPI of 6.5 (5.5 for SC/ ST candidates) on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs.

IIT Kanpur MBA Admission 2018 Qualifying Cutoff

Apart from the above-mentioned eligibility criteria, candidates must also meet the minimum qualifying percentile in CAT 2017 exam. Last year, the cutoff was 85 percentile and above for General Category candidates and 75 percentile and above for SC/ ST candidates. This means, only those candidate who have more than 85 percentile in CAT 2017 will be eligible to be shortlisted for next rounds of admission.

Stages of IIT Kanpur MBA Admission 2018

As mentioned before, candidates who wish to pursue MBA programme from IIT Kanpur must take the CAT 2017 exam. The admission process of IIT Kanpur comprises the following four steps -

  • Stage One

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria have to fill the IIT Kanpur MBA application form. Candidates will have to fill the application form online. Candidates will also be required to pay the application fee of Rs. 1600 (Rs. 800 for SC/ ST/ PH) candidates. It can be paid through demand draft drawn in favor of Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur.

  • Stage Two

In stage two, Candidates will be shortlisted for GD and PI rounds

  • Stage Three

In stage three, GD and PI rounds will be conducted. All the shortlisted candidates will be able to appear for GD and PI. In these rounds, the suitability of candidates for MBA program will be evaluated.

  • Stage Four

In fourth stage, a merit list will be prepared. While preparing the merit list, the government reservation norms will be observed. There will be a separate merit list for each of the categories (General, OBC, SC, ST, PH). Candidates whose names are mentioned in the merit list will be offered admission to the MBA programme. Along with the merit list, a wait list will also be published.
