MAT Exam Pattern 2017 – The exam pattern of MAT has been prescribed by the examination authority All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT exam pattern 2017 gives candidates an idea of the number of sections, questions, time duration and marking scheme. MAT December is scheduled to be conducted on December 10 and 16 respectively. The exam is conducted in both paper and computer-based mode. According to MAT exam pattern, the test is divided into five sections - Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment. There will be total 200 objective type multiple choice questions and time duration of the exam is 150 minutes. There are no sectional timings in MAT 2017. 1. Reading Comprehension
Reading Comprehension contains 40 questions and each question carries 1 mark. Questions in this section aims to judge candidates’ comprehension and reading skills.
2. Logical/Intelligence & Critical Reasoning
This section assess candidate’s logical, analytical and reasoning ability. There will be total 40 questions in this section from topics like Data Arrangement, Blood Relations, Series and Sequences and Critical Reasoning, Direction Sense, Input/Output analysis, Coding and Decoding. Questions have to be answered within 30 minutes.
3. Mathematical Skills
This section comprises questions Mathematics, Arithmetic, and Geometry. Candidates must practice basic formulae and concepts of Mathematics to score well Mathematical Skills. This section assess candidate’s aptitude and calculative skills. Candidates have to answer 40 questions in this section within 40 minutes.
4. Data Analysis and Sufficiency
Questions in this section are based on Tabular Presentation, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Mixed DI, Paragraph/Caselet, Probability and Data Sufficiency. To improve data analysis skills candidates have to master the art of calculation. In this section candidates will have to maintain both speed and accuracy to score good. Besides candidates should practice questions from the previous year papers. Candidates before answering should analyse the data. This section carries 40 questions.
5. Indian & Global Environment/ General Awareness
In this section candidates will get questions based on Economics, finance, national and international current affairs. Candidates have to read newspapers, magazines, current affairs books to stay updated with the recent events. Indian & Global Environment/ General Awareness carries 40 question. Candidates have to answer these questions within 15 minutes.
