MAT 2017: Management Aptitude Test or MAT is a national level management entrance exam conducted four times a year, i.e. in February, May, September, and December. MAT is an objective test which evaluates a candidate’s ability in five main areas – data analysis, language, critical reasoning, mathematics and Indian current affairs. Scores obtained by candidates in MAT make them eligible for admission to MBA and PGDM programmes at various management institutes across India. The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts MAT in both paper pencil and computer mode. The last date for offline application for MAT 2017 September is August 23, while that for online registration is August 25. The paper pencil exam of MAT 2017 will be held on September 3 and the computer based test would be held on September 9. The result of MAT Exam 2017 is likely to be published by the All India Management Association in the last week of September 2017.

As mentioned above, MAT is held four times a year. Each exam has different dates on its schedule right from registration, to admit card download and the exam. Also, the dates for online and offline exams are different. Generally, the application (both online and offline) start less than a month prior to the examination. MAT 2017 application opens online on August 23 and the exams will be held on 3 and 9 September. The following important dates for MAT September 2017 must be kept in mind by aspirants:

Before applicants start filling the application form, they are advised to check the eligibility criteria of MAT 2017. A candidate must fulfil all the norms specified below, failing which, they will be disqualified on or before the admission rounds.
In order to be eligible to apply for MAT Exam 2017, an aspirant must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

Candidates appearing for MAT are not required to have any qualifying marks to be eligible for the test. Neither are they required to have any work experience. However, the MAT 2017 eligibility criteria also depend on the management institute the candidate wants to apply at. Candidates are hence advised to confirm the MAT eligibility criteria of the institute before applying.

For the MAT offline application form 2017, candidates are required to visit designated centres or AIMA head office. Aspirants must enter all the details correctly in the MAT application form and submit the same on or before the last date. Before applying for MAT 2017, candidates should have the following with them.

An aspirant can make payment of application fee through demand draft, credit card, debit card and net banking. In the case of payment through demand draft, candidates have to make a DD of Rs. 1400 in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at Delhi. It is necessary for the MBA aspirants appearing for MAT to know the syllabus. The syllabus will define the topics and sub-topics of the test. Knowing the syllabus will also help candidates to avoid wasting time on unnecessary topics. AIMA never releases any official notification regarding the syllabus of the test. However, after analysing previous year question papers, it can be expected that the questions will be based on the following topics –

The test is being held in a paper-based as well as computer-based mode. Candidates can opt for the test mode during the application process. The duration of the test is 2 hours 30 minutes and there will be a total of 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). MAT Marking Scheme
The marking scheme is prescribed by AIMA and according to it,
- For marking correct answer – 1 mark will be awarded
- For marking incorrect answer – 0.25 or 1/4th mark will be deducted
Total 36 cities will host the exam centres for MAT. While filling the application form of MAT, applicants are required to select the test cities according to their preference. Candidates are advised to choose the test city which is nearby and convenient to travel. The test centre will be allotted by the exam officials according to the preference of candidates. On the day of the test, the candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall along with a valid photo ID. Also, the test takers are required to reach the exam venue according to the prescribed time. Address of the MAT exam centre will be mentioned on the admit card.
The MAT admit card is available for download at least a week for the MAT exam. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website. AIMA does not send any hard copy of the MAT admit card to candidates appearing for the test and only those aspirants whose applications have been selected can download the MAT 2017 admit card.

- Only those candidates who have submitted the complete application form will be issued MAT September 2017 Admit Card/Hall Ticket.
- MAT hall ticket is an important document that candidates are required to carry to the exam venue on the day of the test.

MAT 2017 September Result 2017 is likely to be declared in the last week of September 2017. AIMA issues the MAT scorecard online and candidates have to download the MAT scorecard. MAT 2017 scorecard provides the sectional and the overall score obtained by the candidates.
Steps to check MAT 2017 Result:
- Log in by entering your roll number, form number and selecting the month of the test
- Download the result of MAT 2017 and keep it safe until the conclusion of the admission rounds
- In case the scorecard is missing, then you can apply for a duplicate copy by sending a written request to AIMA
Mat 2017 result – Via SMS
MAT 2017 Result can also be checked via SMS. For this a candidate has to type MATS >Space>Formno followed by DOB (ddmmyy) and text the same to 54242.
The final selection of candidates appearing for MBA is done on the basis of their MAT cutoff. The cutoff can be in the form of percentile or marks.
MAT 2017 Cut Off: Points to know
- Cut off scores are the minimum marks that the test takers are required to obtain to get shortlisted for the counselling rounds
- The test takers of MAT Exam 2017 are shortlisted by the participating institutes on the basis of cut off marks
- Each participating institutes will release their cutoff scores of MAT on the basis of factors such as the difficulty level of test, the total number of seats, etc
- The MAT cutoff score varies with the institute and category of candidates
- The cut off score can be expected to remain similar to that of the previous year
Around 123 management institutes are expected to accept MAT September 2017 score. The number of institute varies for each session. While filling in the MAT 2017 application form, candidates are required to select five management institutes according to their preference. Candidates’ scores will be send to these five institutes. After the announcement of the result, these participating institutes release their cut off scores. Each candidate must obtain the minimum cut off marks to get shortlisted for the counselling rounds.
With the release of MAT 2017 result, participating institutes would release the cutoff scores. Candidates who have applied for these B-Schools and secure the minimum cut off marks will be shortlisted for their pre-admission rounds. These candidates are required to participate in the group discussion and personal interview rounds. The final result is based on the candidate’s score, performance in GD/PI and academic profile. Few Institutes may even consider work experience as a criterion for admission.
