XAT 2017 – In India, every MBA aspirant aim for Xavier’s Aptitute Test (XAT) after Common Admission Test (CAT). Both these tests have played a very important role in making and wrecking the careers of lakhs of MBA aspirants. The highest XAT score last year was 51.75 but there was no 100 percentile this year also. Admission to XLRI is made on the basis of XAT & GMAT scores. XLRI conducts XAT every year and it a National level test held in the major cities of the nation. The announcement for conducting XAT 2017 will most be likely be made in the month of September 2016 by the Institute. XAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates interested in appearing for XAT this year must ensure the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria as laid down by XLRI. Failure in not satisfying the eligibility conditions will lead to disqualification of candidature, irrespective of the stage of admission a candidate will be. The eligibility norms are as follow –
The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a state or central recognized institute or University. There is no bar on the minimum aggregate percentile a candidate is required to have in the graduation program.
No age restriction.
The candidates pursuing the final year of their graduation can also apply for the test, provided they will be able to submit the proof of passing their final exams to XLRI by June 2017..
XAT 2017 Application Fee
Irrespective of the category a candidate belongs to, he/she will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee while applying for the exam. Without the payment of this fee, the application form of the candidate will not be submitted. The XAT 2017 Registration Fee can be remitted either online or via cash or DD. The amount of the fee is Rs. 1500/-.
The form to apply for the test will be released in September 2016. It will be available in online mode only at the official website of XLRI. No other mode for XAT Registration will be available. Now the candidates are required to fill only one application form and it will solve two purpose, which are as follow –
- To appear for XAT 2017
- To seek admission in XLRI
All the candidates must read the instructions before commencing with the form filling and also it must be ensured that the details filled in the form should be correct and valid. XAT Application procedure comprises of the following 3 simple steps –
- Filling up of the certain basic details to create a unique XAT 2017 ID and Password.
- Logging at the official website using the respective login credentials to access and fill the application form. Then upload photograph and signature having appropriate file size and format.
- Make the payment of application fee and print the confirmation page for any future reference. The candidates making the payment through cash or DD will have to update the payment details in the XAT 2017 Application Form. Failure to do so, candidates were not able to upload their photograph & signature in the form.
XAT 2017 Admit Card
All the duly registered candidates will be issued the admit card in December 2016. The admit card will also be issued online only and will be available at the official website of XLRI-XAT for the candidates to download. It will not be sent via post or email. For downloading the Admit Card of XAT 2017, the candidates will be required to login into their individual account using their respective ID and password.
Admit Card is an important ID proof which is used at various stages of the exam and admission process; hence it must be preserved in the best of condition by the candidate. No candidate will be allowed to enter the test centre without producing the valid admit card. Along with it, the candidates are advised to carry a photo ID for the purpose of verification.
The exam will be held in pen paper mode. The total number of questions will be 78 and duration of the test will be 170 minutes. Every wrong answer will be penalised with 0.25 marks, however, there will be no negative marking in the General Knowledge and Essay section. The test paper will have 5 sections divided into 2 parts, which are as follow –
Part A –
- English Language/ Verbal & Logical Reasoning
- Decision Making/ and Analytical Reasoning
- Quantitative Ability/and Data Interpretation
Part B –
- Essay Writing
- General Awareness
The result will be declared in the last week of January 2017. The candidates will be able to download the score card and their result of XAT 2017 in online mode only. The scorecard will furnish the sectional percentage and percentile of the all the sections. But the General knowledge percentage and percentile will be calculated independently and will not be included in the calculation of “Total” percentage and percentile. For viewing and downloading the XAT scorecard, the candidates will need their respective XAT 2016 Registration Number and Date of Birth.
