XAT 2018 – Xavier Aptitude Test


XAT 2018XAT 2018: XLRI Jamshedpur conducts Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT for  admission to postgraduate management programmes at more than 150 business schools across India. XAT 2018 is scheduled to be conducted online on January 7, 2018 across 47 cities in India and 2 abroad. Online registration for XAT 2018 started from August 16 and the last date for submission of the application form is November 30, 2017. To be eligible for XAT, aspirants should have completed their Bachelor’s in any discipline from a recognised university. XAT 2018 admit card will be issued from December 20, 2017 onwards. The exam will be held for 3 hours and 30 minutes consisting objective and subjective type questions on Quantitative Ability, English Language and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, GK and Essay. According to XLRI officials, the exam format of XAT will remain same as previous years. XAT 2018 result will be declared by January 31, 2018. XAT scores are accepted by 11 Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI) members and 146 other participating institutes. Over 90,000 aspirants appear for XAT every year. XAT 2018 Application Form

The application form of XAT 2018 is available online from August 16, 2017. The last date to fill XAT application form is November 30, 2017. Fee payment can be done through credit or debit card, cash (through XAT Pay-In-Slip method at a bank) and demand draft. The application fee for XAT is Rs 1,650 for all categories. Late applicants have to pay Rs 2,000 as the fee. Candidates are advised to keep their scanned images of photograph and signature, mark sheets of class 10, 12, graduation and masters ready before filling the application form. XAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

XAT eligibility criteria have been prescribed by XLRI. As per XAT eligibility criteria 2018, candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree with minimum three years in any discipline are eligible to apply for XAT 2018. Final year bachelor’s students can also apply for XAT provided they have passed their exam by July 10, 2018. Candidates can check below XAT eligibility criteria 2018 as per different programmes.

XAT 2018 Exam Centres

XAT will be conducted in 47 Indian cities and two international cities – Dubai and Kathmandu. Applicants are required to choose their preferred exam cities while filling the application. XLRI reserves the right to add  or remove XAT test cities depending on administrative feasibility. XAT 2018 Admit Card

The admit card of XAT 2018 will be available for download from December 20, 2017 onwards in online mode. The hall ticket will be issued to candidates who applications are accepted by XLRI. To download and print XAT admit card applicants have to enter their registration number and date of birth. The admit card will carry information such as name, date of birth, time, test centre name and address and exam day instructions. Candidates are required to paste a recent passport size colour photograph after downloading it. The exam conducting authority will not sent XAT hall ticket by post. Aspirants have to carry XAT admit card along with two photo identity card such as voter ID card, passport, driving license, aadhaar card to the examination centre.

XAT 2018 Exam Pattern

XAT 2018 will be held in the online mode. The exam is divided into two parts – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 consists of three sections -Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation. The paper carries 70 objective type multiple choice questions. Paper 2 comprises two parts – General Knowledge and Essay and carries objective and subjective type questions. The number of questions in XAT varies year to year and all questions carries equal marks. As per XAT marking scheme candidates for each correct answer will score 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answers. XAT 2018 Syllabus

XAT syllabus has been not been prescribed by XLRI. However based on previous years’ questions papers coaching institutes provide a tentative syllabus. Candidates appearing in XAT 2018 should prepare the topics given in  XAT syllabus to ace the exam. Aspirants need to focus more on the verbal ability and general awareness. To crack the exam, aspirants should read newspapers, magazines and books to build on vocabulary skills. Here are the lists of important topics for XAT 2018.

XAT 2018 Sample Papers

XAT sample papers are released by coaching institutes for candidates to get an idea of the paper pattern. XAT sample papers are available online at Entrance Corner for Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General Knowledge as well as Essay. XAT 2018 sample papers include questions that were asked in exams conducted in previous years. Practicing XAT sample papers will help candidates to improve their question-solving skills and speed. Apart from sample papers, aspirants should also attempt XAT mock tests, which help aspirants to get familiar with the test-taking environment.

XAT Previous year Question Papers

XAT question papers will be released by XLRI after the completion of exams. However, Entrance Corner has the list of XAT previous year question papers from the last 10 years. XAT question papers are available in .pdf format. The question papers will help candidates to get an idea of the question pattern, sectional weightage, important topics, marking scheme etc.

XAT 2018 Answer Key

XAT answer key will be released by XLRI in the third week of January. Candidates can check the answer sheet by entering registration id and date of birth. Candidates will be able to download XAT answer key for all sets of test booklets A, B, C and D provided during the exam. The answer key contains the correct answers to all the questions asked in the exam. Before the release of official XAT answer key, coaching institutes such as T.I.M.E., Test Funda, HitBullsEye, IMS, Career launcher etc also releases the answer key. The answer key allows candidates to calculate probable score based on their correct and incorrect answers and analyse their performance.

XAT 2018  Result

XRLI will announce  XAT result online by January 31, 2018. Candidates can download their result by entering XAT ID and date of birth. On the basis of the result, candidates will be shortlisted by XLRI and other participating institutes for next round of selection process that is Group Discussion, Personal Interview, and WAT. The percentage and percentile of Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation will be included for calculation of total percentage and percentile. The percentage and percentile of General Knowledge, as well as Essay, will not be included for calculation of total percentage and percentile. The XLRI and XAMI will adopt separate selection procedures and there will be no common admission process.

XAT 2018 Scorecard

XAT scorecard will be released online along with the result. The examination authority will also sent the hard copy of XAT scorecard by post. The scorecard will carry information such as XAT registration ID, date of XAT exam, percentage as well as percentage of quantitative Ability and Data interpretation, verbal and logical ability, percentage of Decision Making and Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge. The overall percentage and percentile are also included.

XAT 2018 Cutoff

XAT cutoff will be declared by XLRI Jamshedpur, after the declaration of result. On the basis of cutoff score XLRI will release the list of candidates shortlisted for next rounds of selection process. Other participating institutes will release their cutoff score separately. XAT cutoff is the minimum marks candidates should obtain to become eligible for the next rounds of selection process. XLRI releases XAT cutoff for Business Management, Human Resources, and Global Management Programme. XAT 2017 cutoff is given below.

XAT 2018 Selection Procedure

XLRI and other participating institutes release their cutoffs to shortlist candidates. Candidates who meet the cutoffs are invited for further rounds that include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. It must be noted that the XAT selection procedure may vary from institute to institute. While some of the institutes conduct Group Discussion, others may include Group Activity to shortlist candidates. If we talk specifically of XLRI, the selection process includes GD and PI rounds. Apart from the XAT 2018 score, a candidate’s performance in GD and PI will also be taken into consideration for final selection. Moreover, many of the participating institutes also take into account other important factors to shortlist candidates that include past academic record and work experience. In some of the institutes, work experience can give the students an edge over fresh graduates.
