Documents required to fill XAT application form 2018
The following are the required documents and details that must be kept ready before filling the XAT application form 2018 –
- A valid email ID and phone number
- Scanned image of the candidate’s photograph and signature
- Education details such as class 10, 12 and graduation marks
- Work Experience details
- Credit/Debit card details for online transaction
As mentioned earlier, the XAT application form 2018 is available in online mode only. The XAT 2018 application process is divided into 5 steps, which is registration, uploading of photographs and signature, filling up details, the preview of filled in application and payment of the fee. While filling the application form of XAT 2018, candidates must make sure that all the entered details are error-free. Also, before filling the XAT 2018 application form, candidates must make sure they fulfil all the XAT eligibility criteria. The steps to fill XAT application form are given below –
Step 1: XAT 2018 Online Registration
Candidates are required to fill in the required basic information to register for XAT 2018. To register for XAT, candidates are required to enter the following details –
- Mobile Number
- Email ID
- Security Code as provided during registration
After entering the above details, candidates can click on ‘Save & Next’ to complete the registration process. Only after successful XAT registration, candidates will receive the XAT ID and password on their registered mobile number and email address.
Step 2: Photo & Signature Specification for XAT 2018 application form
In this step, the applicants are required to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature. Both images of candidate signature and photograph must be as per the required specifications. The table below provides the required specifications of the images to be uploaded in XAT application form 2018.

While scanning the photograph and signature, candidates must make sure that:
- The scanner resolution must be set to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch)
- The colour must be set to True Color
- The image file must be in JPG or JPEG format
Step 3: XAT application form – Enter personal, academic and professional details
This section of XAT application form is further divided into two parts. In first part, candidates have to enter their basic details and in second they have to mention their academic qualification/ work experience/ known languages.
Basic Details – Here, applicants are required to select or enter the following details –
- If candidates are willing to apply for the XLRI programmes, then are required to click on ‘Yes’ and then click on the check boxes of the various programmes (Human Resource Management – HRM, Business Management-BM, General Management Programme-GMP and Fellow Programme in Management-FPM). For FPM, candidates are required to select their area of specialisation
- Select the Communal category
- Choose religion
- Select XAT test cities as per the convenience
- Enter the personal details such as date of birth, gender, father’s name, mother’s name, etc. as mentioned in class 10 certificate
- Enter address for communication
- Select the payment mode either online or offline
Enter Qualification, Experience/Language details:
In this particular section, candidates are required to enter the following details –
- Academic details like Class 10, Class 12, and graduation marks or other higher qualification details
- Candidates who have worked full time are required to mention their work experience
- If candidates from (SC/ST/Religious Minority Community) are interested in taking pre-exam training, then they can select the centre for training
- Enter the name of languages (up to 3) in which candidates can read, write and speak

Step 4: Preview of filled in XAT application form
In the preview section, applicants will be able to check the details that they have entered in the XAT application form 2018. They can edit the entered information in this section and make the necessary changes before final submission and payment of fee.
Step 5: XAT 2018 application fee and payment mode
Before submitting the XAT application form 2018, candidates are required to pay the application fee of Rs. 1650. The candidates who are willing to apply for XLRI programmes are required to pay an additional fee of Rs. 300 for each programme.
The application form of XAT 2018 can be filled also by paying a late fee of Rs. 2000. Also, candidates have to pay Rs. 500 for each XLRI programmes if they are applying after specified dates.
The XAT 2018 application fee can be paid by online as well as offline mode. To pay the fee, candidates can opt any of the mode explained below.
Steps to pay XAT Application Fee via online mode – Candidates paying the fee via online mode are required to pay additional bank transactional charges or intimation charges along with the application fee. To pay the XAT 2018 application fee, candidates can choose for any of the following payment gateways –
- Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/Master Card /Maestro)
- Credit Cards
- Internet Banking
- Cash Cards or Mobile Wallets
On successful transaction, an e-Receipt will be generated. On failure of payment, no e-Receipts will be generated and candidates are required to log in to their XAT accounts using their ID and password to repeat the payment process. After the generation of the e-receipts, candidates are required to download and the printout of the e-Receipt and filled in XAT application form.
Steps to pay XAT Application Fee via offline mode – To pay the application fee of XAT via offline mode, candidates can opt for cash mode or demand draft. Candidates who wish to pay XAT application fee through cash or demand draft have to select the payment mode ‘Offline’ while filling the XAT application form.
Cash Mode: To pay the fee via cash mode, applicants are required to print the XAT Pay-In-Slip or Challan form. Then, candidates have to visit the nearest IDBI Bank and make the payment. On submitting the fee amount, the bank will keep the bank’s copy and return the candidate’s copy. After paying the fee, applicants are required to enter the transaction details and continue filling the XAT application form.
Demand Draft: Here, candidates are required to draw a Demand Draft in favour of ‘XLRI JAMSHEDPUR’ payable at JAMSHEDPUR.
Where to send the XAT Confirmation Page & Demand Draft?
After successfully paying the XAT application fee via Demand Draft, candidates are required to send a copy of the completed XAT application form i.e. the confirmation page along with the DD to the following address –

About XAT 2018
For the first time, XLRI will be conducting XAT 2018 in online mode. Aspirants are required to fill the XAT application form within the end date to appear for the entrance test. The duration of the test is 3 hours 35 minutes and the questions will be divided into 2 parts – Paper 1 and Paper 2. In the test, candidates can leave up to 12 questions non – attempted. For every non – attempted question after the 12th one, 0.5 marks will be deducted. The XAT score will be accepted by more than 150 Management Institutes.
