XAT 2018: XLRI Jamshedpur has conducted Xaviers Aptitude Test or XAT. The exam was conducted online across 47 cities and two abroad. The overall paper of XAT 2018 was moderate to difficult. The question paper was divided into two parts – Part I and II. The Part I of XAT online test booklet had Verbal ability & Reading Comprehension, Decision Making, Quantitative ability & Data Interpretation. While Part II was General Knowledge and Essay. There were reports of technical glitches at some centres. XAT 2018 answer key is expected to be released in the third week of January. Entrance Corner has provided XAT 2018 exam analysis and expected cutoff. The overall XAT 2018 cutoff is expected to be around 36 for BM and 32 for HRM programmes at XLRI. XAT 2018 result will be declared by February 10. XAT scorecard will be made available in February after declaration of result. Over 90,000 candidates appear in XAT every year. XAT answer key will be released by XLRI in the third week of January. Candidates can check the answer sheet by entering registration id and date of birth. Candidates will be able to download XAT answer key for all sets of test booklets A, B, C and D provided during the exam. The answer key contains the correct answers to all the questions asked in the exam. Before the release of official XAT answer key, coaching institutes such as T.I.M.E., Test Funda, HitBullsEye, IMS, Career launcher etc also releases the answer key. The answer key allows candidates to calculate probable score based on their correct and incorrect answers and analyse their performance.
XRLI will announce XAT result online by February 10, Candidates can download their result by entering XAT ID and date of birth. On the basis of the result, candidates will be shortlisted by XLRI and other participating institutes for next round of selection process that is Group Discussion, Personal Interview, and WAT. The percentage and percentile of Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation will be included for calculation of total percentage and percentile. The percentage and percentile of General Knowledge, as well as Essay, will not be included for calculation of total percentage and percentile. The XLRI and XAMI will adopt separate selection procedures and there will be no common admission process.
XAT scorecard will be released online after the declaration of result. The examination authority will also sent the hard copy of XAT scorecard by post. The scorecard will carry information such as XAT registration ID, date of XAT exam, percentage as well as percentage of quantitative Ability and Data interpretation, verbal and logical ability, percentage of Decision Making and Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge. The overall percentage and percentile are also included.
XAT cutoff will be declared by XLRI Jamshedpur, after the declaration of result. On the basis of cutoff score XLRI will release the list of candidates shortlisted for next rounds of selection process. Other participating institutes will release their cutoff score separately. XAT cutoff is the minimum marks candidates should obtain to become eligible for the next rounds of selection process. XLRI and other participating institutes release their cutoffs to shortlist candidates. Candidates who meet the cutoffs are invited for further rounds that include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. It must be noted that the XAT selection procedure may vary from institute to institute. While some of the institutes conduct Group Discussion, others may include Group Activity to shortlist candidates. If we talk specifically of XLRI, the selection process includes GD and PI rounds. Apart from the XAT 2018 score, a candidates performance in GD and PI will also be taken into consideration for final selection. Moreover, many of the participating institutes also take into account other important factors to shortlist candidates that include past academic record and work experience. In some of the institutes, work experience can give the students an edge over fresh graduates.

The application form of XAT 2018 is available online from August 16, 2017. The last date to fill XAT application form is November 30, 2017. Fee payment can be done through credit or debit card, cash (through XAT Pay-In-Slip method at a bank) and demand draft. The application fee for XAT is Rs 1,650 for all categories. Late applicants have to pay Rs 2,000 as the fee. Candidates are advised to keep their scanned images of photograph and signature, mark sheets of class 10, 12, graduation and masters ready before filling the application form. XAT eligibility criteria have been prescribed by XLRI. As per XAT eligibility criteria 2018, candidates who have completed their bachelors degree with minimum three years in any discipline are eligible to apply for XAT 2018. XAT was conducted in 47 Indian cities and two international cities - Dubai and Kathmandu. Applicants are required to choose their preferred exam cities while filling the application. XLRI reserves the right to add or remove XAT test cities depending on administrative feasibility. The admit card of XAT 2018 was available online for download from December 27 to January 7. The hall ticket is issued to candidates whose applications are accepted by XLRI. To download and print XAT admit card applicants have to enter their registration number and date of birth. The admit card carries information such as name, date of birth, time, test centre name and address and exam day instructions. Candidates are required to paste a recent passport size colour photograph after downloading it. The exam conducting authority will not sent XAT hall ticket by post. Aspirants have to carry XAT admit card along with two photo identity card such as voter ID card, passport, driving license, aadhaar card to the examination centre.
XAT 2018 will be held in the online mode. The exam is divided into two parts Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 consists of three sections -Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation. The paper carries 70 objective type multiple choice questions. Paper 2 comprises two parts General Knowledge and Essay and carries objective and subjective type questions. The number of questions in XAT varies year to year and all questions carries equal marks. As per XAT marking scheme candidates for each correct answer will score 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answers. XAT syllabus has been not been prescribed by XLRI. However based on previous years questions papers coaching institutes provide a tentative syllabus. Candidates appearing in XAT 2018 should prepare the topics given in XAT syllabus to ace the exam. Aspirants need to focus more on the verbal ability and general awareness.
