Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, conducts an exam, every year, to grant admission in various degree courses. Exam is called as Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) and is conducted, usually, in May. Though the exam, aspirants compete to secure undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) seat, in BITS Pilani and three other BITS campus.

BITS Pilani and Campus

Without a doubt, Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences is one of the premier Institute of Advanced Technical and Sciences education. It is a deemed University, which was established in 1964. Since, the incorporation University has believed that Knowledge is Power and has been imbibing the same into its pupil.

Backed by G.D Birla, University grew from a regional college to one of the biggest Institute for Technical Education, in India. Today, it has three more campus in Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai, which are equally distinguished.

Courses Offered Through BITSAT

Qualifier of the exam are granted admission into Integrated First Degree Programs. Focus of the University is undergraduate Engineering and Sciences studies. However, few Masters program are also offered. List of courses offered to entrants of BITSAT are listed below.

BITSAT - Important Dates

Only after the issuance of notification, dates for each event of BITSAT will be announced. However, to provide an idea, as to when events of the exam usually take place, we have prepared the table below.

Duration mentioned above are tentative and might alter as per the demand of the circumstances then.

BITSAT - Eligibility Criteria

Admission, into all of the courses, will be accorded through scores in the exam, provided candidate meet the eligibility criteria. Ineligible candidates will not be regarded to grant admission, in any of the BITS. Criteria, which candidates need to fulfill is as below:

Education Qualification: Aggregate marks of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology should be more than 75% marks. Also, candidates must have score, at least, 60% marks in all the three subjects (PCM/B).

Qualifying Exam: Candidate must have passed class XII, or should be appearing for it.

Who Cannot Apply: Current alumni of BITS cannot apply and candidates who passed the qualifying exam two year prior to the exam year are ineligible.

Note: candidates securing first rank in class XII exam, i.e. Board toppers will be granted direct admission.

BITSAT Application Procedure

Candidates will have to follow stipulated format to submit BITSAT application form. Else, it will be rejected. Forms will be available online, on the official website.

Firstly, candidates will have to register themselves. To do so, some personal information has to be shared. During registration, a unique application number and password will be generated. Candidates must secure these two properly, as these will be required to login.

On conclusion of registration procedure candidates will be have to login, using application number and password, and fill application form. Information inserted in form should be authentic and updates.

After filling the form, next step will be to submit application fee. To do so, candidates may access safe payment gateway like Net Banking and Debit/ Credit Card or generate challan from authorized banks. Fee amount for Male candidates will be around Rs. 2090. However, the same for female candidates will be Rs. 1590.

When all formalities of form filling are completed, candidates will be able to download confirmation page.

Note: Candidates who will write BITSAT in Dubai, will have to remit US $ 50, as application fee. Amount is the same for, both, male and female candidates.

BITSAT Admit Card 2015

BITSAT admit card is an important document, as without it candidates will not be allowed to write the exam. Candidates will be allowed to download it online, at least a month before the exam date.

Secure your admit card properly and check all the information in it thoroughly. If any error is detected, contact the conducting authority immediately.

BITSAT Exam Pattern 2015

Exam Pattern of BITSAT will allow candidates to realize what will be expected from them, in the exam. Marking scheme, question type, section all are summarized below:

Paper Pattern: BITSAT question paper will be divided into 4 section of: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology and English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning.

Duration: The exam will be of three hours. Extra time will not be granted.

Mode of Exam: BITSAT will be held in Computer Based Format

Question: Exam will have 150 multiple choice questions and for each four answer options will be given.

Marking Scheme: For correct answer, three marks will be awarded to candidates. However, for wrong answer negative marking of 1 mark will be done.

BITSAT Syllabus 2015

Candidates aiming to crack BITSAT are advised to study class XI and XII NCERT books. Most of the topics, in NCERT books and BITSAT syllabus collide. 

BITSAT Merit List and Admission

After the conclusion of BITSAT, University will issue result of entrants, online. Candidates will be able to check their scores, as well as number of wrong and right answer in it. Candidates may download this scorecard but it will be valid only for an year.

Then as per the scores merit list will be prepared. On the basis of this merit list, admission will be granted to candidates.

Note: Merit list will be prepared as per the scores in BITSAT, but only those candidates will be featured in it who will submit class 12th marks and BITS admission application form, in time.

BITS Admission Application Form

Candidates will have to fill two application form for BITS. One will be filled to write the exam, whereas, another form must be filled to receive admission. Admission form will issued in May - June and candidates will have to submit class XII scores along it.

BITSAT Admission of International Students

Candidates who have written SAT and SAT Subject Test, organized by College Board (USA) may also apply for admission into BITS Pilani Hyderabad. Admission to these candidates will be granted as per the scores in Level 2 SAT Subject Tests.
