GATE 2016 ResultGATE 2016 Result - Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has declared the result of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) around 09.30 on 18 March 2016. The result has been released online and is available at the official website of GATE. For checking the GATE 2016 Result, the candidates are required to submit their Enrolment ID and Password. Details of GATE 2016 Result

Under GATE, the score of candidates are considered and same is reflected in the result. The score of candidates are first calculated via the general marking scheme and are later normalized. Below we have explained the entire procedure of GATE 2016 score calculation:

Calculation of the GATE 2016 Result (Score) as per the Marking Scheme:

The question paper is divided into two sections, General Aptitude (GA) and Subject Paper. In both the sections, there are two types of questions, which are Numerical Answer Type, and Multiple Choice Type.

The Multiple Choice Type question will be of 1 and 2 marks and will carry a negative marking of 1/3 and 2/3 marks, respectively. However, negative marking will not be applicable in Numerical Type Question. The GA section will be of 15 marks. It will include 5 Multiple Choice Questions of 1 and 2 marks, respectively. The Subject Paper will contain 25 questions of 1 mark and 30 questions of 2 marks. Hence, the total number of questions in this section is 55, of 85 marks.

The papers of GATE are held in single or multiple sessions. For both, different normalization formula is used. The scores are normalized to provide a just chance to each candidate and are displayed in the GATE 2016 result.

Various papers of GATE are held in multiple sessions and the allocation of the session is done on the random basis. However, various measures are taken to keep the level of difficulty same in all the sessions, but to ensure the distribution of abilities, of candidates, in the same session such is done.

GATE 2016 Score Card

The score card for GATE 2016 has been released and is available online on the official website. The GATE Score card is available from 23 March to 29 May 2016 and is valid only for three years. Candidates can download GATE 2016 result from the GOAPS, by entering the Enrollment ID/Email Address and Password.

The conducting body will also issue a soft copy of it, from 29 May to 31 December 2016, but candidates will have to pay Rs. 500 for it. The amount can again be remitted via the GOAPS.

NOTE Related to GATE 2016 Result: Gate 2016 Score card has been issued to all those SC/ST/PwD candidates who will score more marks than the equal qualifying marks of SC/ST/PwD candidates, in a paper. For rest of the candidates, it has been issued to those who will secure more marks that the qualifying marks of OBC (NCL) candidates, in a subject.

GATE 2016 Result – Points to Note

  • The result of GATE 2016 is valid for three years since the date of release.
  • It will not be posted or emailed to the candidates.
  • The GATE 2016 Result can be made available to Government organizations by making a payment. This is applicable in Indian and abroad, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IISc and the organization aiming to use GATE 2016 scorecard.   • The GATE 2016 Result is not subjected to challenge. However, if any dispute arises, then only the Court and Tribunals in Bangalore have the authority of exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle any such dispute or claim.

GATE 2016 Result - Overview of the Exam

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2016 was held on 30, 31 January and 6, 7 February 2016. Candidates wrote the exam in online mode and introduction of the virtual calculator was incorporated.

The qualifiers of GATE 2016 will become eligible for admission, in M.Tech/M.E courses, in IITs, NITs and various other private and Government colleges in the nation.
