GATE 2018 application starts on Sept 1; Apply before Oct 5 at gate.iitg.ac.inIIT Guwahati has opened the GATE 2018 application process. As per the official notification released by the conducting body, aspirants can fill the application form of GATE 2018 on or before October 5, 2017 on the official website - gate.iitg.ac.in.

Candidates can fill the GATE application form 2018 in the online mode only through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The registration process of GATE 2018 is a five stage procedure where the first stage involves obtaining the GATE 2018 enrolment id by registering for the exam. The second and third stages include filling up personal and academic information and uploading photograph and signature followed by preview of filled in application and making payment through the online mode.

GATE 2018 will be conducted in computer-based mode on February 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2018. The GATE 2018 question paper will have 65 questions carrying 100 marks. As per the GATE exam pattern 2018 the questions will be divided between multiple choice questions (MCQ) numerical answer type (NAT) questions. The questions will be designed to test candidates overall understanding of the selected subjects. Candidates who have passed or in the final year of their B.E./B.Tech./B. Pharm/Bachelor's degree in Architecture/ Bachelor’s degree in Science/M. Sc./M.A./MCA/Integrated M.E/ M. Tech, etc. are eligible for GATE 2018.

GATE is a national level entrance exam taken by more than 9 lakh candidates every year for pursuing M.E./M.Tech/Ph.D in IITs/NITs/CFITs and other universities in India. Also, most of the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) accepts GATE score for recruitment purposes. The exam is jointly monitored and administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
