GATE Eligibility 2018 – IIT Guwahati the Organizing Institute of GATE 2018 has announced the eligibility criteria for applicants to ascertain their age and qualification required for appearing in this test. GATE 2018 eligibility criteria help candidates to know age limit, subject and marks required for the qualifying exam. According to GATE eligibility 2018, there is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam. However, candidates must be studying or have done graduation in B.E./B.Tech./B. Pharm/Bachelor's degree in Architecture/ Bachelor’s degree in Science/M. Sc./M.A./MCA/Integrated M.E/ M. Tech, etc. The application form will be accepted for those candidates only who will meet the required eligibility of GATE 2018. Candidates are advised to carefully read GATE eligibility 2018 before applying for the exam. The GATE 2018 application process has started from August 31 to October 5. It must be noted that application form can be filled in online mode through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
GATE 2018 is for candidates who have completed their degrees or are studying in final year (except in some 5 year integrated courses and AMIE etc.). Hence, candidates who have degree completion certificate can upload their degree certificate as GATE 2018 eligibility criteria.
In case, the degree certificate has not been issued at the time of GATE 2018 application, if mark sheets of 7th or 8th semester are issued, one of the mark sheets can be uploaded to verify the GATE 2018 eligibility criteria. Some candidates who have completed their degree, but do not have the degree certificate/provisional certificate/7 and 8 semester mark sheet, can upload 6 semester mark sheet as eligible criteria. Candidates with backlog papers but are studying in final year can also appear in GATE 2018. Candidates who completed degree (incomplete due to backlog papers) can upload course completion certificate/6 semester mark sheet or the provisional certificate letter in the prescribed format.

Age Limit: No age limit for appearing in GATE 2018
Candidates of any age can appear in GATE 2018 subject that they must have passed or will be passing their bachelors in required subjects. According to officials, there is no age limit for appearing in GATE 2018.
Nationality: Indian and Foreign are eligible to appear in GATE 2018
Candidates who are studying or studied in India with Nationality of Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates or other foreign candidates are eligible to appear in GATE 2018
Qualification: Subjects required for appearing in GATE 2018

The GATE eligibility criteria 2018 is only for appearing in the entrance exam while the admission criteria are for M.E./M.Tech/Ph.D programmes will be different. GATE 2018 admission criteria for the various M.Tech or M.E courses differ from institutes to institutes and candidates have to check the eligibility of each institute or University for admission based on the GATE 2018 score.
M.Tech admissions at the IITs or NITs will be done only for those candidates who have qualified GATE 2018. Each institute will select candidates based on their cut off score. IIT conducts their own counselling for M.Tech, while the admission to NITs and some GFTIs done through common counselling Centralized Counselling for M.Tech. / M.Arch./ M.Plan.admissions (CCMT).
