Step 1- GATE 2018 registration/enrollment

Candidates can fill GATE application form 2018 through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The link to register for GATE 2018 will be activated on October 1, 2017. Each candidate must register online to apply for GATE 2018. They must enter the following details-

Click on submit button. On successful registration, an e-mail containing your GOAPS Enrollment ID will be sent to your registered email ID. This Enrollment ID will be the reference ID for all future communication.

Step 2- Enter login details

In the second step to fill GATE application form 2018, candidates must enter the enrollment ID, registered email ID as well as the password to login and proceed to fill the GATE 2018 application form. Step 4 - Upload documents: Candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph and signature as per specifications. Candidates will also have to upload their eligibility certificates, category certificates if applicable.

How to fill GATE 2018 application form: Documents that have to be uploaded

Step 5 - Edit and preview process: The system will generate the review page of GATE 2018 application form. If candidates have to make any changes then they must click on the ‘ Save and View Application’ button. To make the final submission of the application form, click on the ‘Submit and Proceed to Payment’ button.


The first stage of the application form is now completed.

After the application form is completed, the system will generate a unique GATE application number. Candidates must note down the application number, password and security question and answer for future reference.

Step 6 – Payment of Application Fees

Candidates have to pay the requisite fee in order to complete the application form. The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable. The application fee for all the categories is provided in the table below:

Mode of Payment: Candidates have to pay the GATE application fees online by using net banking/debit card/credit card. Additional bank charges will be applicable. No offline modes will be made available.

Step 7 - Printout of GATE 2018 application form

On successful payment, candidates will be able to directly print their GATE 2018 application form. However, they must keep checking for their application status as the application will be scrutinised and checked by the respective zonal IITs. In case of any discrepancies, candidates will be sent an SMS and email to intimate about the same and its rectification. Candidates can always log in to GOAPS to print their application form.

Q. For how many GATE papers can I apply?

Ans: Candidates can apply for only 1 paper out of the 23 to appear in GATE 2018. It is advised that candidates appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of qualifying degree. Candidates are free to choose any paper according to last qualifying exam.

Q. Can I use one e-mail address to fill multiple application forms?

Ans: No, candidates cannot use a single email address to fill multiple applications. One email address can be used to submit only one application form.

Q. How will I pay application fees of GATE 2018?

Ans: Candidates can pay the application fees through GOAPS from the application portal. A candidate can opt for any of the payment options listed. Additional charges such as service charges, processing fees or bank charges, have to be paid by the candidate.

Q. What is the fee for candidates with foreign as well as the Indian nationality?
