JEE Main 2018 is held for admission into around 24,323 seats in B.Tech./B.E. or B.Arch./B.Planning programmes offered by NITs, IIITs, IITs and CFTIs. The application process of JEE Main involves five steps- online registration, filling the application form, uploading of images, payment of application fee and printout of acknowledgement page. All candidates except for those belonging to Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam have to enter their Aadhaar details while filling JEE Main 2018 application form. JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2018

To be eligible for JEE Main, candidates must have passed class 12 or equivalent examination in 2016 or 2017 or must be appearing in 2018. Before filling the application form candidates must ensure that they meet all the requirements stated in JEE Main eligibility criteria 2018.

How to fill JEE Main 2018 Application Form 2018- Requirements

Before filling the application form of JEE Main, candidates must be ready with the following items:

  • Class X and XII documents

  • Aadhaar card number

  • Passport number/ bank account number/ voter id card/ ration card number etc. (For Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya)

  • Password- 8 to 13 character long with at least 1 upper case & lower case alphabet, at least 1 numeric value and special character (eg.!@#$%^&*-)

  • Passport number/ Bank account number/ Voter ID card/ Ration card number etc.

  • Debit/ credit card or e-challan details (For fee payment)

  • Valid email ID and phone number

  • Scanned images of passport sized photograph and signature (Specifications given below on this page)

How to fill JEE Main 2018 Application Form?

The application form of JEE Main 2018 will be released online. There are five steps that candidates have to complete to successfully register for JEE Main 2018.

Step 1- JEE Main registration

CBSE will activate the link for JEE Main registration on December 1, 2017. Students have to register for JEE Main online by clicking on ‘Apply for JEE Main 2018’ button.

Candidates will be redirected to a page with instructions and procedure to fill JEE Main 2018 application form. After reading the instructions carefully students have to mark a tick on ‘I have downloaded Information Brochure and read all its instructions’ and then click on ‘Proceed to apply online’ button. The authentication page will appear on the screen and candidates have to enter the following details:

  • Nationality

  • State of eligibility

  • Identification type

  • Identification number

  • Candidate’s name

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Security pin

After entering all the required details correctly applicants have to click on ‘Submit’ button.

Step 2- Filling details in JEE Main 2018 application form

On the next page, candidates have to enter the following details:

Exam related details- Candidates have to enter the examination name they are applying for, mode of examination and question paper medium

Personal details- Candidate’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, state of eligibility, category, person with disability, date of birth, gender, in case of girl candidate, are you only child of your parents?, nationality, place of residence, Aadhaar number, valid govt. identity proof (For candidates from J&K, Assam and Meghalaya)

Academic details- Year of passing class 10 and 12 or its equivalent, name of the qualifying examination, School Board, place and year of passing class 12, percentage, institution type, mode of preparation, name and address of school, mention if appeared or appearing for improvement of class 12 or equivalent examination

Mailing address- Address, locality, city/town/village, district, state, pin code, email address, mobile number, landline number

Guardian details- Father’s/guardian’s and mother’s qualification, occupation and annual income

Password creation- Choose and confirm password, select security question and enter security answer

Security pin- After entering all the details mentioned above candidates have to enter security pin as displayed on the screen and then click on the ‘Next’ button.

The review page of JEE Main 2018 application form will appear on the screen. Applicants can make changes by clicking on ‘Edit credentials’ or click on ‘Final submit’. After final submission, JEE Main 2018 application number will appear on the screen. Candidates must ensure to note it down and then click on ‘Upload scanned images’ button.

Step 3- Uploading scanned images

Candidates have to upload scanned images of their passport-sized photograph and signature with the specifications given below:

Note: Candidates will be able to modify/correct the particulars in JEE Main 2018 application form before the payment of fees. Once the fee is remitted / e-Challan downloaded, candidates will not be allowed to edit any particulars.

Step 4- Application fee payment

JEE Main application fee can be remitted by debit/ credit card or e-challan. The procedure to make payment of JEE Main 2018 application fee is discussed below:

  • Payment by Debit/Credit Card: Candidates have to select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fees and follow the online instruction to complete the transaction. After successful payment, the acknowledgement page will be generated.

  • Payment by Bank e-challan: Candidates have to select any of the banks (Syndicate/ Canara/ ICICI) to deposit the application fee through e-challan mode. Candidates have to take a print out of the e-challan and take it to the nearest branch of the selected bank and make the payment.

Note:
(1) In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit cards, the candidate will need to pay an additional processing charge as following
Credit Card: 1.20% of the examination fee plus the GST as applicable.
Debit Card: 0.75% + taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000. 
(2) Application fee once paid will not be refunded (full or partial) under any circumstances.

Step 5- Printout of acknowledgement page

After successful transaction, candidates will be able to take a printout of the acknowledgement page. Applicants must ensure to retain it safely for future reference. JEE Main acknowledgement page for candidates making the payment through e-challan will be generated after the bank/CBSE confirms the fee deposited by them. In case the acknowledgement page is not generated, applicants must contact the bank/branch to update their transaction status.

About JEE Main 2018

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is one of the most coveted entrance examination conducted by CBSE for admission into B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch./B.Plan. programmes offered by the participating institutes. Candidates can appear in either or both paper 1 ( B.E./B.Tech) and paper 2 ( B.Arch./B.Plan). On the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance examination, JEE Main rank list will be prepared based on which counselling for admission into the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs will be conducted. Candidates among the top 2,24,000 in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2018 will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced for admission into the IITs.
