HPCET 2018 - The Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test commonly known as HPCET is administered by Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) for admission to first-year undergraduate engineering programmes. HPTU is likely to conduct HPCET 2018 in the second week of May in around 16 cities of the country. The online application form of HPCET 2018 will be released in the first week of March. As per HPCET eligibility criteria, candidates seeking admission must have passed or appearing in class 12 or equivalent examination. In the qualifying examination, candidates have to obtain at least 45% in order to be eligible for HPCET. The admit card of HPCET 2018 will be available for download from the first week of May onwards. Candidates appearing in HPCET 2018 have to answer 150 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The first 50% seats in the 10 B.Tech courses offered by 18 participating institutes will be filled on the basis of JEE Main merit and the remaining seats will be filled as per candidates merit in HPCET 2018. The important dates of HPCET list out the schedule of events related to the entrance exam as well as admission process. HPTU is yet to disclose HPCET important dates for the academic session 2018-19. Candidates can check the tentative dates of HPCET 2018 from the table given below:

HPTU has defined some requirements that candidates need to fulfill to appear in HPCET 2018 and for admission to any of the member institutes. The minimum HPCET eligibility criteria that candidates need to meet are stated below:
The application form of HPCET 2018 will be available online from the first week of March. Registration for HPCET is likely to continue till the first week of May 2018. Students who wish to appear in the entrance examination have to complete all five steps of HPCET application form given below:

Step 3) Uploading scanned images of photograph and signature
Step 4) Making HPCET application fee payment
Step 5) Printing confirmation page
The Exam Centres of HPCET 2018 are the places where HPTU will conduct the entrance test. HPCET 2018 is expected to be held in around 16 cities of the country. Candidates will be allotted HPCET exam centre in the city opted by them while applying for HPCET 2018. Request for change in exam centre of HPCET allotted to candidates will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Candidates will be issued HPCET admit card in the first week of May 2018. HPCET 2018 admit card will be available online and applicants can download it through their name/ application form number and programme name. The e-admit card of HPCET will have the examination schedule and address of the exam centre allotted to candidates. If candidates find any discrepancy in the personal details mentioned on HPCET admit card, they must immediately contact the concerned authority for rectification.

The syllabus of HPCET 2018 is prescribed by HPTU for candidates appearing in the entrance examination. Questions asked in the entrance examination will be based on HPCET 2018 syllabus. Candidates who are preparing for HPCET 2018 must cover all the topics from Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics prescribed in the syllabus. Questions in Mathematics section will be asked from units such as sets, relations and functions, integral calculus, Differential equations etc. In Physics, topics from units such as Kinematics, Laws of motion, Work, energy and power etc. are included. HPCET syllabus 2018 prescribed for Chemistry include topics from states of matter, Atomic structure, Chemical thermodynamics to name a few.
Candidates appearing in HPCET 2018 must practice sample papers to prepare in a more coherent way for the examination. HPCET sample papers are introduced to give the candidates a prior experience of the examination. Solving sample papers or previous years HPCET question papers will help students to eliminate silly mistakes, increase their speed and accuracy level and know about their preparation level. Aspirants who want to score well in the examination must download and practice HPCET sample papers 2018.
HPTU will release the answer key of HPCET 2018 online in the second week of May. HPCET answer key will consist of correct answers to all the questions asked in the entrance test. Candidates can cross-check their marked responses with HPCET answer key and calculate the probable score. In case any discrepancy is found in HPCET answer key candidates can send written complaints along with supporting documents/ solution to the university through email or in person.
HPCET 2018 result is likely to be declared in the fourth week of May 2018. To check the result of HPCET candidates have to log in with their roll number or name. The subject wise score obtained in the entrance examination, as well as ranks, will be displayed in HPCET result 2018. Candidates must ensure to take a print out of HPCET result and retain it safely for future reference.
After the result declaration, HPTU will publish HPCET 2018 merit list online as well as display it on the notice board of the university. HPCET 2018 merit list will be based on the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test. A separate merit list will also be released for candidates applying for admission through JEE Main 2018. Admission to all B.Tech courses will be made on the basis of merit in HPCET 2018/ JEE Main, subject to fulfillment of minimum educational qualification.
The counselling of HPCET 2018 will start from the first week of June. To be considered for HPCET counselling 2018, eligible candidates have to register online within the given time period. The first 50% seats will be allotted to candidates based on their JEE Main 2018 merit and the remaining seats will be allotted to the qualified candidates of HPCET. Candidates have to report in person for the counselling of HPCET 2018 and make their choice preference from the seats available. During HPCET counselling 2018 candidates have to produce all the necessary documents for verification purpose. After the completion of all the formalities candidates will be issued selection letter and they have to report to the allotted institute for admission.
