  • The question paper will only be provided in the English language only.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to take the examination in any other language.

Duration of the Exam

  • In all, the duration of the examination will be 3 hours.
  • The candidates will have to solve both the part of the examination within this duration only.
  • However, to solve each part, 1 hour 30 minutes will be allocated to the candidates.

Papers in the Exam

  • The M.Tech entrance examination of IIIT Hyderabad is divided into two, General Aptitude and Subject Paper.
  • The General Aptitude is a compulsorily paper, which has to be attempted by all the candidates.

  • On the other hand, under Subject Paper candidates will have choice to opt for any one, among Mathematics, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Structural Engineering, Computational Natural Science and Bio-informatics, and Computational Linguistics.

Under IIITH PGEE 2017 Exam Pattern, the question in General Aptitude paper will consist of questions from Logical Reasoning, Basic Aptitude, Basic Mathematics and Computers.

Candidates will have to score the minimum cutoff marks in this paper. Else, their Subject Paper will not be checked.

The candidates can only opt for one subject paper.

1. Electronics and Communication: This paper will be divided into two parts. The Part A will be for Electronics, whereas, the Part B will be for Signal Processing and Communication.

It should also be noted that the candidates seeking admission in Signal Processing & Communication or VLSI and Embedded System courses are required to appear for this subject paper.

2. Computational Natural Sciences and Bioinformatics: As per the IIITH PGEE 2017 Exam Pattern, this paper will be divided into three parts, which will be for Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-informatics. However, the Physics and Chemistry section are only to be attempted by Post-B.Sc aspirants.

The candidates are required to attempt one section as a major one and rest two as minor parts. The candidates may choose the major subjects, as per their area of expertise.

3. Rest of the paper will not be divided into sections.
