Candidates appearing in the common entrance test must know about IMU CET eligibility criteria 2018 related to age, academic qualification to name a few. As per IMU CET eligibility criteria, students whose age is between 17 to 25 years are eligible for the entrance test. However, the upper age limit for SC/ST candidates is 30 years. Candidates must also secure minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST category) in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in class XII or any other equivalent examination. Before filling the application form, aspirants must ensure that they meet all the requirements stated in the eligibility criteria of IMU CET 2018. Candidates qualifying the entrance test will be offered admission into the undergraduate programmes at the six campuses of IMU provided they satisfy IMU CET 2018 eligibility criteria. IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2018

Candidates seeking admission in various undergraduate programmes offered by the six campuses of IMU and affiliated institutes through IMU CET 2018 must meet the eligibility norms. The eligibility criteria of IMU CET 2018 are listed below:

Age requirement- The lower and upper age limit that candidates of different categories need to meet are given in the table below:

Physical Fitness- The candidate must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements. Candidate for admission to marine courses (DG Shipping-approved courses) have to produce certificate of medical fitness by Doctors approved by Director General of Shipping. It must be noted that candidates having any disability are not eligible for admission into marine courses.

Note: Candidates who get qualified for B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) and B.Sc courses have to submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from Registered Medical Practitioner.

Eye Sight- As per IMU CET eligibility criteria 2018, candidates applying for B.Tech Marine Engineering courses and B.Sc (Nautical & Maritime Science) course must not have any degree of cross-eyed condition or any sickness in their eyes or the eyelids that are responsible for aggravating or recurring, the pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequela. Candidates should have a good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and a full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.

  • For B.Sc. (Nautical Science) & B.Sc. (Maritime Science)– All the candidates appearing for these two courses should have colour vision unaided 1.0 (6/6) in better eye and 0.67 (6/9) in another eye. The normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
  • For B.Tech.(Marine Engineering) degree course– Candidates appearing for this courses, the distance vision unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in another eye. The normal colour vision will be tested by Ishihara test chart.

Marital status- Only unmarried candidates are eligible to apply for IMU CET 2018.

Educational Qualification- IMU CET eligibility criteria states the following requirements related to educational qualification to be fulfilled by candidates:

  • Applicants must pass class XII or equivalent examination
  • In the qualifying exam, candidates must have secured at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together.
  • In class X and XII examination, candidates must obtain minimum 50% in English.

IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2018- List of qualifying examination

Candidates who have passed in any of the following examination are eligible for admission in undergraduate prograames:

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre- University examination by recognised Board/University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • General Certificate Education(GCE) examination(London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • H.S.C vocational examination.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling must have a minimum of five subjects.
  • Minimum 3 years diploma recognised by AICTE or a state board of technical education
  • Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)

IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2018- Reservation of Seats

The reservation of seats for candidates belonging to various categories are given in the table below:

IMU CET reservation of seats for candidates from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, Eight North Eastern States and Jammu & Kashmir in IMU, Campuses are given below:

  1. Andaman and Nicobar Islands - 20 seats
  2. Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands - 10 seats
  3. Eight North Eastern States (including Sikkim) - 40 seats
  4. Jammu and Kashmir - 10 seats

About IMU CET 2018

IMU CET 2018 will be administered by Indian Maritime University will conduct in online mode across 36 Indian cities. As per IMU CET exam pattern, the question paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and General Aptitude. The six campuses of IMU will fill over 906 seats based on marks obtained by candidates in the entrance test.
