JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2018JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2018 - The exam pattern of JEE Advanced 2018 is defined by the seven zonal IITs. This year, IIT Kanpur will administer JEE Advanced and for the very first time, the entrance test will be held in the computer-based test mode. JEE Advanced exam pattern 2018 consists details about the various aspects of the entrance test such as number of papers, questions, marking scheme, duration etc. However, some aspects of JEE Advanced exam pattern such as total number of questions, total marks and marking scheme changes every year and it is not disclosed prior to the examination. As per the exam pattern of JEE Advanced candidates have to appear in two compulsory papers- paper 1 and paper 2. The total duration of each paper is 3 hours. In 2017, both paper 1 and paper 2 were divided into three sections and it comprised of 54 questions each. The total marks in each paper of JEE Advanced was 183. JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2018

Candidates appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 have to appear in two papers- paper 1 and paper 2. Both the papers are compulsory and it will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. This year, IIT Kanpur will conduct JEE Advanced in the computer-based test mode. Candidates can check JEE Advanced exam pattern such as examination mode, type of questions, duration, marks, marking scheme below:

Examination mode- JEE Advanced 2018 will be a computer-based test

Subject combination- Candidates have to attempt questions from the following subjects:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics

Sections- Each subject of both the papers will be divided into three sections. The distribution of questions, marks and marking scheme in each section of each subject will differ.

Language medium- The question paper of JEE Advanced will either be in Hindi or English. Candidates have to choose the medium of the question paper while filling the application form of JEE Advanced.

Duration- For both papers 1 and 2, candidates will be given a total duration of 3 hours. The schedule for both the papers is given below in the table:

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2018- Availability of Scribe

Candidates who fall under PwD (Persons with Disability) candidates who are visually impaired, dyslexic, have disability in the upper limbs or have lost fingers / hands thereby preventing them to properly operate the Computer Based Test (CBT) platform or more disability and have applied under the PWD category. Such candidates will be provided scribe/reader on the request of the candidate. More details below:

  • Students will be allowed to have their own scribe or reader on request. They can also submit a request to the centre superintendent for the same.
  • The centre superintendent will identify the scribe/reader. Candidates can also meet the scribe a day, before the examination to verify the suitability of the scribe on request.
  • PwD candidates will be allowed to use the services of a scribe will get one hour compensatory time i.e., end time will be 1 pm for Paper 1 and 6 pm for Paper 2.
  • Candidate will be allowed to meet the panel of scribe one day prior to the examination i.e., on May 19, 2018, in the presence of the IIT Representatives (IRs), Presiding Officer (PO) and an Invigilator, and choose their scribe.

JEE Advanced 2018 Exam Guidelines

IIT Madras has defined important instructions to be followed in the examination centre. Candidates can check JEE Advanced exam guidelines given below:

  • JEE Advanced admit card- Candidates must carry the printed copy of JEE Advanced admit card and their original photo identity card to the examination hall.
  • Identity verification- The invigilator present in the examination centre, as well as IIT representatives, will verify the identity of the candidates. Candidates, who fail to verify their identity they will not be allowed to appear in the examination.
  • Original JEE Advanced admit card- Upon successful identity verification, candidates will be given the original admit cards.
  • Banned items- Candidates will not be allowed to carry any kind of electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, I PAD etc., geometry box, written or blank paper/ pieces of paper, slide rule, abacus, log books, wallets etc. in the exam centre.
  • Reporting time- Candidates must reach the allotted examination centre well in advance. No student will be allowed to enter the hall after the commencement of the examination.

JEE Advanced Syllabus 2018

About JEE Advanced 2018

JEE Advanced is the second stage of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. The top 2, 24, 000 JEE Main qualified candidates are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted by IIT Kanpur on May 20 incomputer-basedd test mode. In 2017, 1,59,540 top JEE Main qualifiers appeared in JEE Advanced and 50455 candidates qualified for admission into 11,000 B.Tech seats offered by the 23 IITs.
