According to experts, the overall difficulty of JEE Main 2017 exam is moderate. Compared to last year, the paper was easy. As per the JEE Main exam anslysis 2017, Physics has been the toughest section followed by Mathematics and Chemistry. Last year, the difficulty level was increased a bit for JEE Main paper.
As told above, based on JEE Main 2017 paper analysis, various coaching institutes will declare expected cut off of JEE Main 2017. The candidates will be able to evaluate their performance in exam compared to other exam takers. Since, the difficulty level of questions in JEE Main 2017 was moderate, the cut off score is likely to go down. Last year, the JEE Main cut off score of General category was 100, while for OBC it was 70.

The JEE Main is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for selection of top 220000 candidates for JEE Advanced and for preparing of All India merit list for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFITs. Based on the JEE Main 2017 All India rank, candidates will be selected for admission to nearly 24,000 undergraduate engineering seats in 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFITs. Also, based on JEE Main 2017 result, the top 220000 candidates will be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced scheduled to be held on May 21 for admission to around 11000 B.Tech seats in 23 IITs.
