JEE Main Application Form 2018 JEE Main Application Form 2018: CBSE has started the correction facility in Aadhaar card details. Candidates can correct Aadhaar details till March 26. The application process of JEE Main 2018 ended on January 1. The JEE Main 2018 application form correction window for rectification in details had been activated from January 9 to 22, 2018. Registered candidates could rectify all particulars in their JEE Main application form, if required, through the application correction window provided by the examination authority. The application form was released by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on December 1, 2017 for candidates aspiring to pursue B.Tech/ B.E. and B.Arch/ B.Plan from 23 IIITs, 31 NITs and 20 GFTIs and other participating institutes. The application form was available only in the online mode while the examination fee could be paid either offline through bank e-challan or online using credit/debit card or net banking. JEE Main application fee through e-challan could be paid till January 2. The image correction window was available online from December 8 to January 2. The application procedure of JEE Main 2018 involved registration, filling the form, uploading of images, fee payment and slot booking. Students (except for those from Assam, Meghalaya and J&K) had to enter their Aadhaar number at the time of filling the JEE Main 2018 application form. Candidates were advised to check JEE Main eligibility criteria 2018 before applying for the entrance examination. CBSE will conduct JEE Main 2018 offline on April 8 and in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode on April 15 and 16, 2018. JEE Main Application Form 2018 Correction 

The facility to correct discrepancies related to details in the JEE Main application form 2018 was activated from January 9 to 22, 2018. The change of mode from computer-based (online) examination to pen & paper based (offline) examination was not allowed. The additional fee could be paid by candidates either through credit/debit card/Ewallet (SBI buddy/Paytm) or through e-challan generated during the online correction by cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI Bank between January 9 to 23, 2018. The correction window for rectification in the images was available until January 3, 2018.

JEE Main application form 2018 – What do you need before application?

Before filling the application form of JEE Mains 2018, students had to keep the following information and documents ready for them:

  • Aadhaar card- Aadhaar number/ 14 digit Aadhaar Enrolment number

  • ID proof (For Assam, Meghalaya and J&K candidates)- Passport/ration card/bank account number or any other valid Government id number

  • Contact details- Mobile number, Email ID

  • Qualifying examination details- Year of passing class 10, place of class 12 schooling, name of the board, class 12 roll number, address of school, type of institution (Government or private)

  • Parents/ Guardian details- Qualification, occupation and annual income

  • Scanned images- Passport sized photograph, candidate’s signature, parent/guardian signature

  • Account details- Debit/Credit card details for online payment of JEE Main application fee

How to fill JEE Main Application Form 2018

JEE Main registration 2018 was done only in the online mode. Applicants were advised to verify that they fulfill the JEE Main 2018 eligibility criteria before proceeding to fill the form. Candidates had to follow five steps given below to successfully fill and submit JEE Main application form 2018:

  1. Registration for JEE Main 2018
  2. Filling up of JEE Main 2018 application form
  3. Uploading of scanned images
  4. Payment of JEE Main 2018 application fee
  5. Printout of confirmation page

Step 1: JEE Main Registration 2018

Candidates applying for JEE Main 2018 had to first register themselves for the exam without which they cannot fill the application form. To register for JEE Main 2018 candidates required to enter the following details.

  • Nationality      
  • State    
  • ID number/Aadhaar/ID number          
  • Name  
  • DOB   
  • Gender
  • Security pin

Step 2: Filling the JEE Main Application Form 2018

Upon successful registration, candidates were redirected to the JEE Main application form 2018 page in which they had to enter the following details:

Name of examination:

  • JEE (Main) Paper - 1 (B.E. / B. Tech.)

  • JEE (Main) Paper - 2 (B. Arch. / B. Planning)

  • JEE (Main) Paper - Both Papers (Paper1 & Paper 2)

JEE Main Exam Centre: Candidates were allowed to select four cities in case of Pen & Paper based examination and one city in case of Computer based examination. Those who opted for paper 1 in the city where the examination is conducted only in CBT mode, but also want to appear in JEE Main Paper II (conducted in P & P mode) had to select four other cities. 

Personal Details- Name, parents name, state of eligibility, category, date of birth, gender, nationality, complete mailing address

Academic Details- Marks obtained in class 12 or equivalent exam, year of passing class 10 and 12, address of the school, type of institution. Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination in the year 2018 had to enter details about their qualifying examination.

Communication Details- Address, name of state, country, pin code, email address, mobile number etc.

Guardian Details- Applicants had to enter qualification, occupation and annual income details of their parents and Guardians.

Password Creation - Candidates had to choose a password for signing in later to access the application form. They also had to enter a security question and answer which could be used to recover the password in case it is forgotten. 

III. Uploading of Scanned Images

Further, applicants had to upload scanned images of their recent passport sized photograph and signature. The specifications for the same are given below:

After uploading the scanned images, candidates could review the JEE Main application form 2018 and make changes in it if required. They had to then proceed further to make payment of the application fee.

IV. Payment of JEE Main Application Fee

The last date for payment of JEE Main 2018 application fee is January 2, 2018. It is mandatory for candidates to pay JEE Main application fee. Applicants can make the payment online through Debit/Credit card or e-Challan (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI bank). The category wise application fee structure for both offline and online mode of JEE Main 2018 is as given in the table below on this page.

Note - Candidates who have opted for CBT mode of JEE Main paper 1 had to select the date/slot after making the application fee payment. Applicants who do not select the date/slot will be allotted the same randomly based on the availability of dates/slots.

1. In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit cards, the candidate will need to pay an additional processing charge as following:

  • Credit Card: 1.20% of the examination fee plus the GST as applicable.
  • Debit Card: 0.75% + taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000. 

2. Application fee once paid will not be refunded (full or partial) under any circumstances

V. Printout of JEE Main 2018 Application Confirmation Page

After making the payment, if the status of application fee payment is ‘OK’, candidates can take a print out of the JEE Main application 2018 confirmation page. Candidates must ensure to take a printout of the acknowledgement slip and keep it safe for future reference. The acknowledgement slip is not required to be sent to JEE Main Secretariat. In case, the status of the payment is not ‘OK’ candidates have to undertake the following steps:

  • Payment made through electronic payment gateway might have been cancelled. Candidates will get back the amount within 7-10 days. Candidates will require to pay the fee amount again and make sure the status is shown OK.
  • Applicants making the payment through e-challan have to contact the concerned bank to update their payment status

Aadhaar Card required for JEE Main application form 2018: Candidates had to mention their Aadhaar card details while filling JEE Main application form 2018. The use of Aadhaar in the applicants of JEE Main 2018 will result in an accuracy of the applicants’ details. This will also help in ascertaining identities of the applicants at the examination centres in a convenient and hassle-free manner. Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove one’s identity. However, applicants who have passed or appearing in Class XII examination from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya were required to enter passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government identity number for filling up the JEE Main application 2018, provided they select the city of JEE Main exam centres in their states only.

Important Instruction about JEE Main 2018 Registration ID and Password

During online form filling, candidates were required to choose ‘Password and Security Question and its Answer. Applicants are advised to record/remember their password for all future logins. For subsequent logins, candidates will be able to login directly with their respective system generated JEE Main 2018 application number and the chosen password. Candidates are advised not to disclose or share their password with anybody. Neither CBSE nor NIC will be responsible for violation or misuse of the password of a candidate. Candidates can change his/her passwords after login, if desired. They must ensure to log out at the end of their session so that their login credentials cannot be tampered or modified by unauthorized persons.

FAQs related to JEE Main Application Form 2018

Q. Can I submit JEE Main 2018 application form offline?

Ans. No, the application form was available online only and candidates could not submit it via any other medium.

Q. How many centres do I need to select while filling the application form of JEE Main 2018?

Ans. Applicants could select a maximum number of four exam centres while filling the JEE Main application form 2018. JEE Main exam centre had to be entered in the decreasing order of preference.

Q. The file size of the scanned copies of my photograph and signature exceeds the specified limit. What should I do?

Ans. Candidates had to compress the file to the size and dimension as specified and then upload it.

Q. What should I do if I have applied for both paper I and II but want to appear in either paper I or paper II?

Ans. It is not compulsory for candidates to appear in both the papers. Applicants can appear for the paper as per their choice.

Q. I forgot my JEE Main 2018 password. How do I retrieve it?

Ans. Candidates have to click on ‘I can’t access my account?’ button, choose ‘I forgot my password’ and then click on the ‘continue’ button. Candidates have to select any of the following options to reset their password.

  • Using security question and its answer you chosen during form filling
  • Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) sent to registered mobile number
  • Using a reset link via Email sent to registered Email address

Ans. Candidates have to click on ‘I can’t access my account?’ button, select ‘I forgot my password’ and then click on the ‘continue’ button. To obtain the application number candidates have to enter the following information and then click on ‘Submit’ button:
