The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) asked all the school education boards all across the nation to provide the top 20 percentile cutoff for class XII results before June 10, 2017, so that there will be no delay in the admission to the NITs, IITs, and other engineering colleges. The meeting of the Council of Boards of School Education in India was held, along with CBSE for issuing the cutoff list. IITs and other institutes requested the boards not to delay this, as they experience the problems during the admission process.
Without the school cutoff percentile, the JoSAA cannot open the admission process, as it is the foremost eligibility for the candidates to secure 75% marks or to be in the top 20 percentile of the school for the admission in the NITs, IITs and other JEE Main Participating Institutes 2017.
"All the school boards along with CBSE have been asked by COBSE to produce the percentile cutoff list, which will be the qualifying marks for JEE Main 2017. The information will be used to prepare the cutoff list for engineering courses" said by a source.
The school board agreed to provide the details of cutoff by June 10. The registration for the joint seat allocation will commence from June 15, 2017.
"NITs, IITs and other institutes have well informed the boards about the problems they face during the admission process, if the boards delay this. The last date to provide the vital information will be June 10." said by one of the government officials.
In the previous year, the boards delayed in providing the cutoff percentile due to which the NITs and IITs reduced the number of vacant seats in top schools.
This year, the CSBE exams have been postponed. The exam will commence from March 09, 2017, a day after the assembly elections in five states. Usually, the exams were conducted on March 01. In spite of the reschedule of the exams, the CBSE chairman R.K. Chaturvedi is confident of issuing the result on time.
