KCET 2018: Karnataka CET or KCET 2018 is a common entrance test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for admissions to various undergraduate engineering programmes in colleges across Karnataka. KCET 2018 will be held in the offline mode by the first week of May 2018 in around 53 exam centres across Karnataka. Over 45,000 seats in around 220 colleges will be filled by candidates who clear KCET 2018. Candidates who have passed or are appearing class 12 examination or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects and English as language subject are eligible to appear for KCET 2018. As per the KCET 2018 exam pattern, the test covers questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and is held for total 180 marks. The online application form for KCET 2018 will be out by the third week of January and close by the first week of March. The offline test was taken by nearly 1.8 lakh candidates in the previous year. Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is expected to announce KCET 2018 important dates along with the information brochure by the third week of January 2018. The KCET 2018 eligibility criteria are the set of conditions defined by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for admissions across Karnataka. The eligibility criteria of KCET 2018 includes details of nationality, academic qualification among others.
Reservation of seats are made in favour of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward in KCET 2018. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are required to submit documents such as certificates issued by the concerned Tahasildar in the forms during the verification of original documents at the helpline centres.

KCET 2018 application form is expected to be available online in the third week of January 2018. The process of filling up the application form includes five steps. In order to apply for KCET 2018, candidates have to follow the below mentioned steps in order:

KCET 2018 will be held in around 53 exam centres across 29 districts of the state such as Bangalore, Ramanagara, Chikmangalur, Gulbarga and Mysore among others. Candidates have to choose KCET 2018 exam city as per their convenience while filling the application form. The name and address of KCET exam centre 2018 will be mentioned on the admit card.
KCET 2018 admit card is likely to be issued in the third week of April. Candidates who will successfully complete the registration process will be issued the KCET 2018 hall tickets. The KCET 2018 admit card will contain important information such as name of the candidate, address of exam centre, exam date and time and exam day guidelines.
The exam pattern of KCET 2018 includes various details such as total number of questions, total marks, duration etc. Candidates aspiring to appear in the examination are advised to get acquainted with the exam pattern of KCET 2018 to be able to prepare effectively for the examination.

The syllabus of KCET 2018 covers units from the three sections of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The question papers are based on the First and Second PUC syllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.
Candidates preparing for KCET 2018 are advised to practice the question papers of previous years to analyse and keep a track of their preparation level. Question papers help candidates to get a fair idea of the questions that might be asked in the entrance exam and also the question pattern. Practicing the KCET sample papers will help candidates recognise and work on their weak areas. Each aspirant is advised to solve previous years question papers or KCET sample papers so as to make the preparation for the entrance examination more effective.
The provisional answer key of KCET 2018 is likely to be announced by the first week of May. The KCET answer key will enable candidates to calculate their expected score in the exam. In case of any discrepancies, they can challenge the official answer key before the release of the final KCET 2018 answer key which is likely to be available by the last week of May.
KCET 2018 result is expected to be declared online by the last week of May. Qualified candidates will be assigned ranks as per their result in KCET 2018. In case of any discrepancies found in the result, candidates may submit their objections within three days from the date of publication of the KCET 2018 result.
KCET 2018 cutoff will be announced by the KEA in the form of opening and closing ranks. To be eligible for admissions to various government and private colleges, candidates need to obtain the cutoff of KCET 2018. Candidates failing to score within the closing cutoff rank will not be admitted to any of the undergraduate engineering courses offered by the participating Institutes.
The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will start the counselling of KCET 2018 by the first week of August. Qualifying candidates who secure a rank will be called for KCET 2018 counselling on the dates assigned as per their ranks. The counselling of KCET 2017 is likely to be conducted in two rounds and one extended round. Candidates having their names in the allotment result have to make the fee payment and download admission order by the second week of August. The candidates have to enter their choice of institutes and courses. Seats are allotted to candidates as per their final option entry.
KCET 2018 seat allotment will be conducted in four rounds, the third round being the second extended round and the fourth round being the casual round. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their choice of institute and courses and availability of seats. Selected candidates will then have to make the fee payment and download admission order. KCET seat allotment is declared in online mode. Seat allotment of KCET is prepared in order of merit and based on choices entered by candidates taking the seat matrix into consideration.
KCET 2018 participating institutes include around 220 government and private colleges of Karnataka. Over 45,000 seats of KCET participating institutes will be filled by candidates who will clear the Karnataka CET 2018.
