KVPY 2017KVPY 2017- The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a national level programme of Fellowship in Basic Sciences conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. KVPY 2017 aptitude test will be held online on November 5. Candidates enrolled in class XI, XII or 1st year of an undergraduate program in science have to appear under SA, SX and SB stream respectively. Candidates who have successfully registered for KVPY 2017have beenissued admit card from October 15 onwards. The application form of KVPY was available from July 16 to August 23, 2017. Based on the performance of candidates in KVPY aptitude test and interview, IISc will award the fellowship.However, candidates have to fulfil the KVPY eligibility criteria 2017 defined for each stream to get enrolled for the fellowship. The selected KVPY 2017 candidates will be provided with generous fellowship and contingency grant till the pre PhD level. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) fellowship programme which is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India was started in 1999. The main aim of the KVPY fellowship is to encourage talented students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research careers in Sciences. Apart from awarding the generous fellowship, it also organizes summer camps for the KVPY candidates in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.

KVPY Fellowship 2017

The KVPY fellowship will be provided till PhD level to only those candidates who will pursue studies in the following programmes of basic sciences:

  • B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc.
  • M.S. in Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Geophysics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Ecology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Applied Physics, Materials Science or Environmental Science

KVPY Admit Card 2017

Candidates who have successfully applied for KVPY 2017 have been issued admit card on October 15. KVPY admit card 2017is available online and to download it candidates have to enter their application number and date of birth on the candidate login page. Information such as the exam date and venue, time, KVPY 2017 registration number, roll number, candidates name etc.are mentioned in the admit card of KVPY 2017. Candidates must check all the information mentioned in the admit card carefully and in case of any discrepancy, they must immediately report to the concerned authority for rectification. KVPY 2017 admit card is an important document and applicants must make sure to carry it along with them to the examination hall. Without KVPY hall ticket 2017, no student will be allowed to appear in the aptitude test.


KVPY Exam Centres 2017

The KVPY 2017 aptitude test is scheduled to be held on November 5 in a total number of 54 cities spread across the country. Candidates had to choose the name of the exam city as per their convenience while filling the application form of KVPY. Candidates must be cautious while selecting the exam centre of KVPY as once allotted, they will not be allowed to change it later. The complete address of KVPY exam centre allotted to the candidates is mentioned on the admit card.


KVPY Exam Pattern 2017

KVPY 2017 will be a computer based aptitude test. Candidates preparing for the test must be well acquainted about the exam pattern which includes exam pattern, mode, number of papers, total number of questions etc. The exam pattern of KVPY 2017 is given below:

KVPY 2017- Exam day guidelines

  1. Reporting at KVPY exam centre- Candidates must reach the allotted examination center at least an hour before the commencement of the test.
  2. Allotted room number- The room numbers in which the test will be conducted will be displayed in each center.
  3. Banned items- Use of mobile phones, calculators, pagers, pen drive or any electronic devices are prohibited inside the examination hall. Also, no provision will be made for the safe custody of the items at test centers.

KVPY Mock Test 2017

IISc Bangalore has started the mock test of KVPY 2017 for candidates to get familiar with the computer based exam pattern. Candidates can take the mock test by clicking on the link given above. The login ID and password to take the mock test is KVPY. The mock test is available in both English and Hindi language. Candidates have to choose the language medium of the paper after logging in. The total number of questions in KVPY 2017 mock test is 40. Candidates have to complete the mock test within 3 hours.


KVPY Answer Key 2017

The answer key of KVPY will be released by IISc, Bangalore, few days after the conclusion of the aptitude test. KVPY official answer key 2017 will be available online in pdf format. KVPY answer key will be available for all the subjects under SA and SB/SX stream. With the help of KVPY answer key, candidates can cross check their answers to calculate the score that they might obtain in the KVPY 2017 aptitude test. Candidates must ensure to download the answer key of KVPY for the stream under which they appeared for the test to calculate the correct probable score.


KVPY Result 2017

The result of KVPY aptitude test will be declared tentatively in the third week of December 2017. The result will be released category wise in pdf format for all the streams SA, SX and SB. KVPY result will display the list of students shortlisted for the interview round which will be conducted in the 3rd week of January. The candidates name, application number and seat number will be mentioned in KVPY result 2017. After the interview gets over, IISc will declare the overall result of KVPY. Candidates can check their KVPY result of aptitude test and interview by logging in with their application number and date of birth. Based on the scores obtained by candidates (75% marks in aptitude test + 25% marks in the interview), the All India Rank of candidates under each stream will be declared online.


KVPY Cut off 2017

The cutoff of KVPY 2017 is the minimum marks defined by IISc, Bangalore for qualifying the aptitude test and the interview. As KVPY 2017 is a two stage test, the first set of KVPY cutoff will be declared for qualifying the aptitude test followed by the second set of cutoff after the interview to qualify for the fellowship programme. KVPY cutoff 2017 will be published category wise for each stream. Candidates can check previous years final KVPY cutoff from below:

KVPY Selection Procedure 2017

The selection procedure of KVPY 2017 includes qualifying in the aptitude test and Interview to be conducted by IISc, Bangalore. All eligible candidates have to appear in the aptitude test. On the basis of candidates performance in the aptitude test, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview which is the final round of the selection process. The final merit list of KVPY will be announced based on the overall performance in the aptitude test and interview. The selected candidates will then be provided the fellowship till PhD level.


KVPY Eligibility Criteria 2017

Candidates seeking the KVPY fellowship and wish to appear in the aptitude test have to satisfy all the eligibility requirements defined by the conducting authority. KVPY eligibility criteria 2017 includes details about the qualification, age limit etc. defined for SA, SX and SB stream. Candidates can check stream wise eligibility criteria of KVPY 2017 below:

  • In class X, applicants must have obtained a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects

  • Candidates enrolled in class XII in the science stream for the academic session 2017-18
  • In class X, applicants must have obtained a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects
  • In class XII, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PwD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Biology
SB
  • Candidates enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics and Biology in the academic session 2017-18
  • In class XII, candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Biology
  • In the 1st year of undergraduate examination candidates must have secured 60% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwD) before taking up the fellowship if awarded

KVPY Application Form 2017

The online application process of KVPY 2017 ended on August 23. However, candidates were allowed to pay the application fee until August 30, 2017. KVPY application process included three simple steps given below:

Step 1) Registration- Candidates had to register online by entering details such as name, date of birth, category, nationality, Email address, mobile number etc.

Step 2) Filling of KVPY 2017 Application Form- Applicants had to fill in their personal and academic details, select the exam centre, upload scanned images of required documents

Step 3) Payment of KVPY Application Fee 2017- The application fee could be paid either through credit card/ATM-Debit card/Net Banking or through e-challan. The category wise fee structure is mentioned below in the table:

Q. Is KVPY application form 2017 available offline?

Ans. Candidates had to apply through online mode only.

Q. How to take KVPY Computer Based Test (CBT)?

A. The aptitude test for KVPY will be conducted using an easy-to-use portal on a computer. Candidates are not required to have any prior experience with using computers to take such a test. Candidates can take the mock test to get familiar with all features of the CBT mode of test

Q. Can I take a computer based test in Hindi?

Ans. Yes. The online test will be carried in English as well as in Hindi

Q. What is the syllabus for the aptitude test?

Ans. No particular syllabus has been prescribed for the aptitude test. The aim for the aptitude test is to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student. However, the syllabus of KVPY is limited to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S., as applicable.

Q. Can I avail the KVPY Fellowship along with a merit scholarship?

Ans. KVPY does not allow its Fellows to receive simultaneously fellowship /scholarship from more than one source, either government or private. In case, they are in receipt of any other fellowship or scholarship, they will have to renounce it in order to avail the KVPY fellowship.
