KVPY 2017- The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a national level programme of Fellowship in Basic Sciences conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. The tentative answer key of KVPY 2017 along with the question papers has been released online on November 24. Candidates can send their queries regarding the tentative answer key to the KVPY office before 4 p.m. on November 29, 2017 by email. The final answer keys of KVPY 2017 will be released in the first week of December. For candidates who appeared in the re-test, the result of the first test will be considered null and void whereas for candidates who did not appear for the re-test the score from the first test will automatically be processed in creating the final merit list. Based on the performance of candidates in KVPY aptitude test and interview, IISc will award the fellowship. However, candidates have to fulfil the KVPY eligibility criteria 2017 defined for each stream to get enrolled in the fellowship. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) fellowship programme which is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India was started in 1999. The main aim of the KVPY fellowship is to encourage talented students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research careers in Sciences. Apart from awarding the generous fellowship, it also organizes summer camps for the KVPY candidates in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.
The tentative answer key of KVPY 2017 has been released by IISc, Bangalore, for the examination held on November 5 and 19, 2017. KVPY answer key is available for all the subjects under SA and SB/SX stream. With the help of KVPY answer key, candidates can cross check their answers to calculate the score that they might obtain in the KVPY 2017 aptitude test. Candidates must ensure to download the answer key of KVPY for the stream under which they appeared for the test to calculate the correct probable score. KVPY final answer key 2017 will be available online in pdf format in the first week of December.

Candidate who were unable to complete the exam held on November 5 due to technical problems were issued revised admit card on November 18. KVPY admit card 2017 was available online and to download it candidates were required to enter their application number and date of birth on the candidate login page. Information such as the exam date and venue, time, KVPY 2017 registration number, roll number, candidate’s name etc. were mentioned on the admit card of KVPY 2017.In case of any discrepancy found in KVPY admit card candidates had to report to the concerned authority for rectification. KVPY 2017 admit card is an important document and applicants were required to carry it along with them to the examination hall.
The KVPY 2017 aptitude test was held on November 5 in a total number of 54 cities spread across the country. Candidates had to choose the name of the exam city as per their convenience while filling the application form of KVPY. Request to change KVPY exam centre allotted to candidates was not entertained by the exam authority. The complete address of KVPY exam centre allotted to the candidates was mentioned on the admit card.
KVPY 2017 was a computer based aptitude test. Candidates who appeared for the test must ensure were required to be well acquainted about the exam pattern which includes exam mode, number of papers, total number of questions etc. The exam pattern of KVPY 2017 is given below:

The mock test of KVPY 2017 was made available for all the test takers to get familiar with the computer based test mode. The login ID and password to take the mock test was "KVPY". The mock test was available in both English and Hindi language. Candidates were required to choose the language medium of the paper after logging in. There were a total number of 40 questions in KVPY 2017 mock test. Candidates had to complete the mock test within 3 hours.
The result of KVPY aptitude test will be declared tentatively in the third week of December 2017. The result will be released category wise in pdf format for all the streams SA, SX and SB. KVPY result will display the list of students shortlisted for the interview round which will be conducted in the 3rd week of January. The candidates name, application number and seat number will be mentioned in KVPY result 2017. After the interview gets over, IISc will declare the overall result of KVPY. Candidates can check their KVPY result of aptitude test and interview by logging in with their application number and date of birth. Based on the scores obtained by candidates (75% marks in aptitude test + 25% marks in the interview), the All India Rank of candidates under each stream will be declared online.
The cutoff of KVPY 2017 is the minimum marks defined by IISc, Bangalore for qualifying the aptitude test and the interview. As KVPY 2017 is a two stage test, the first set of KVPY cutoff will be declared for qualifying the aptitude test followed by the second set of cutoff after the interview to qualify for the fellowship programme. The selection procedure of KVPY 2017 includes qualifying in the aptitude test and Interview to be conducted by IISc, Bangalore. All eligible candidates have to appear in the aptitude test. On the basis of candidates performance in the aptitude test, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview which is the final round of the selection process. The final merit list of KVPY will be announced based on the overall performance in the aptitude test and interview. The selected candidates will then be provided the fellowship till PhD level.

The online application process of KVPY 2017 ended on August 23. However, candidates were allowed to pay the application fee until August 30, 2017. KVPY application process included three simple steps given below:
Step 1) Registration- Candidates had to register online by entering details such as name, date of birth, category, nationality, Email address, mobile number etc.
Step 2) Filling of KVPY 2017 Application Form- Applicants had to fill in their personal and academic details, select the exam centre, upload scanned images of required documents
Step 3) Payment of KVPY Application Fee 2017- The application fee could be paid either through credit card/ATM-Debit card/Net Banking or through e-challan. The category wise fee structure is mentioned below in the table:

Q. How to take KVPY Computer Based Test (CBT)?
A. The aptitude test for KVPY was conducted using an easy-to-use portal on a computer. Candidates were not required to have any prior experience with using computers to take such a test.

Ans. Yes. The online test was carried in English as well as in Hindi
Q. What is the syllabus for the aptitude test?
Ans. No particular syllabus was prescribed for the aptitude test. The aim of the aptitude test was to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student. However, the syllabus of KVPY was limited to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S., as applicable.
Q. Can I avail the KVPY Fellowship along with a merit scholarship?
Ans. KVPY does not allow its Fellows to receive simultaneously fellowship /scholarship from more than one source, either government or private. In case, they are in receipt of any other fellowship or scholarship, they will have to renounce it in order to avail the KVPY fellowship.
