The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, has released the information brochure of Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2016. Apart from this, on 17 October 2015, the application forms for the entrance exam were also released and the last date submit the UCEED 2016 form is 14 November 2015. The exam will be held on 17 January 2016 and candidates may acquire brochure and application form from the appropriate link below. UCEED

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination, abbreviated as UCEED, is conducted for the intake of the candidates into Bachelor of Design (B.Des) course in IITs. The UCEED 2016 is being conducted by IIT-B, under the supervision of UCEED Admission Committee 2016.

UCEEED 2016 will be held in 14 cities, which are: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.

From session 2016-17, IIT-Guwahati will also consider the score of UCEED 2016, for admission into B.Des [/color-box]

UCEED 2016 Eligibility Criteria

As stated above, the last date to avail the IIT-UCEED application form is 14 November 2015, till 23:45 p.m. The application form of UCEED 2016 are only available online and candidates must not fill it if they do not fulfill each and every eligibility criteria of it.

The UCEED eligibility criteria to be fulfilled are as below: 

  • Candidates must be born on or after 1 October 1996. Criteria for SC/ST/PwD candidates has been relaxed up to 1 October 1991.
  • Candidates can only attempt UCEED twice, that too in consecutive years.
  • Candidates must have written their qualifying exams in 2015 or 2016. Candidates who appeared for the qualifying exam in 2014, or before, are not eligible.

Note: Candidates who are not the citizen of India will fall in the category of foreign nationals. These candidates also need to fulfill the rules and regulations of IIT Bombay pertaining to the admission of the foreign students. Also, to know the criteria for admission into B.Des, at IIT-B, refer to the information brochure.

UCEED Application Procedure 2016

It is vital to fill the application before the last date. To correctly register for UCEED, candidates may take aid of the application procedure below:

  • Access the link above.
  • Fill Name, Address, E-mail Address, Phone Number and captcha code, in the required space, in the registration form and click on the submit button.
  • Once, the registration form is filled a Registration ID and Password will send to candidates on their registered e-mail id and phone number. Candidates are then required to login again, with the help of the provided details, and click on the “Go to Application Form” button at the top right.
  • After clicking on it, the UCEED application form 2016 will be displayed. Candidates are required to submit Personal and Qualification details in it. Along it, candidates will also have to upload required documents and pay the application fee.
  • The registration fee for UCEED 2016 is as given in the table below:

UCEED 2016 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of UCEED will be as below: 

Mode: The exam will be held in Computer Based Mode (CBT).

Duration: Candidates will have 3 hours to solve the question paper.

Language: Question paper will only be available in the English language.

Sections: There will be 3 sections in the exam. The Section A will carry Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, Section B will carry questions Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and Section C will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

Questions: The total number of questions in it will be 80. 

Marking: The exam will be of 300 marks and negative marking will be applicable in all the sections.

UCEED Result 2016 - Score Card and Rank

The result of UCEED 2016 will be announced on 28 February 2016. It will be released online and candidates will be able to check it by submitting their Registration ID and Password. The UCEED score card will be available for download from 7 March 2016 and will remain valid only for a year. It will not be posted or send via e-mail to the candidates. Hence, it is advised that candidates download it before the lapse of the deadline.

The rank will be allocated only on the basis of the marks in UCEED 2016. There will be only one rank list, it will not be prepared category-wise. It will be prepared by comparing the marks of the candidates in UCEED with the cutoff marks.

UCEED 2016 Selection Procedure - Admission in B.Des in IIT-B

Obtaining a rank in UCEED 2016 does not guarantee admission. Candidates will have to fulfill each and every criterion, determined by IIT-B, to receive admission.

UCEED 2016 rank holders will have to fill application form of B.Des, which will be available later on, in the 1st week of June 2016. Then, as per the rank and availability of seat, admission will be granted to the candidates. 

Note: Allotment of the seat will be canceled if B.Des application fee will not be submitted on time by the candidates.
