Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that it would be accepting GATE 2018 score for recruitment to the post of Management Trainee (Technical) in E1 grade. This is the first time that SAIL has announced recruitment for graduate engineers through GATE 2018. In an official notification, the PSU has stated that only candidates appearing in the six engineering discipline papers, namely Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation and Mining Engineering can apply for SAIL recruitment 2018.
Candidates interested in applying for SAIL Management Trainee have to appear in GATE 2018. On the basis of GATE 2018 score the company will shortlist students for the group discussion and personal interview. Detailed information about the eligibility requirements, application form availability, selection process will be issued by SAIL at a later stage.
SAIL is one of the seven Maharatnas of the country’s Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE) with an annual turnover of Rs. 49180 crore for the financial year 2016-17. Since the past few years, SAIL has been recruiting engineers through their own written examination. However, for the year 2018, SAIL will recruit candidates through GATE 2018 for operating its Plants and Mines across India.
GATE 2018 will be administered by IIT Guwahati and it is scheduled to be held on February 3, 4, 10 and 11. Online GATE application form 2018 has begun on August 31. Candidates can apply for GATE till October 5, 2017. GATE is a national level engineering entrance exam through which admission to M.tech and M.E programmes will be offered across India and a few institutes abroad. The exam is also commonly used by Public Sector Units (PSUs) like IOCL, HPCL, BHEL among others for their recruitment process. There are 23 papers in GATE depending on the candidate’s preferred branch. However, a particular candidate can apply for one discipline only.
