TNEA Admission 2017TNEA Admission 2017: The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) to be conducted by Anna University for admission into various undergraduate engineering courses in the state. TNEA 2017 rank list has been published by the University on June 22, 2017. TNEA Admission 2017 will be done solely on the as per the rank list prepared by the University based on candidate's performance in class XII boards or equivalent examination. Candidates also have to fulfil all the eligibility criteria set defined for TNEA admission 2017. On the basis of the rank list, candidates will be called for TNEA 2017 counselling which will be held from June 27, in the offline mode. TNEA 2017 will be the basis for admission into an approximate number of 570 participating institutes. The application form of TNEA 2017 was available from May 01 to 31, 2017. Candidates had to take a print out of TNEA application form and send it along with other documents to University. The last date to send the print out receipt of TNEA application form was June 03, 2017. TNEA Admission 2017 Rank List Declared

The rank list of TNEA has been published online by Anna University on June 22, 2017. Admission of candidates in various engineering universities and institution across the state of Tamil Nadu will be done on the basis of the rank list prepared by Anna University. The ranks have been allotted to students on the basis of the scores secured by them in the qualifying examination. The normalization of marks of relevant subjects were carried out after which the qualified students were merged into a common merit list. Various factors including reservation criteria, community categories & inter-se merit guidelines have been taken into consideration to calculate the ranks of the candidates.

TNEA Admission 2017 Eligibility

Each and every candidate has to satisfy the following condition as on the last date of online application for being eligible to apply for admission.

Criterion Requirements
Nativity
  • Candidates of the state who have passed class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply. Such candidates are not required to enclose nativity certificate.
  • Candidates who belongs to the states but who have appeared any of the class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII or their equivalent examination outside Tamil Nadu are also eligible. They have to enclose Nativity certificate only in electronic form/ digitally signed e- certificate.
  • Children of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers can apply for admission.
  • Children whose at least one of the parents have been employed in Public Sector or Government recognized Institutions of Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years are eligible. Candidates have to enclose a certificate from the employer along with the application form stating that he/ she is a permanent employee and is working continuously for the past five years in the firm or institution. Evidence such as PF slips, Income tax etc. must be produced as well.
  • Candidates of other state who have studied VIII, IX, X, XI and XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply. They are not required to enclose “Nativity Certificate”.
Sri Lankan Refugee Sri Lankan refugee who studied in Tamil Nadu will be considered under open competition. The following certificates need to enclosed:
  • Certificate of identification from the Tahsildar of the Head Quarters.
  • Candidates, who have not registered in the refugee camp have to submit a copy of passport, letter registered with Police Station and visa.
Qualification
  • Candidates have to qualify Class XII or its equivalent in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
  • General candidates must qualify in the above mentioned subjects put together with minimum average marks of 50%.
  • Backward class including Backward Muslim Class has to secure an average of 45% in PCM.
  • For MBC, DNC, SC, SCA and ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 10%. Hence, they need to secure at least 40% in Class XII or equivalent examination.
Marine Engineering Branch
  • Candidates must have passed HS or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks aggregate in PCM and English as separate subject.
  • Candidate must obtain at least 50% marks in English either at class X or XII.
  • The upper age limit of the candidate is 25 years. Candidates must weigh at least 48 kilograms.
  • Minimum height recommendation for the candidates is 157 centimeters.
Mining Engineering Branch Only male candidates are eligible to apply.

TNEA Admission 2017 Counselling

  • Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit and communal reservation.
  • Candidates have to opt for colleges and branches at the time of counselling.
  • An initial amount of Rs. 5000 is required to be paid by cash or DD. Candidates belonging to SC/ SCA/ ST category of Tamil Nadu will have to pay Rs. 1000.
  • Shortlisted candidates have to appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark. They must report two hours before the counselling session.
  • Candidates must carry their original certificates for verification.
  • In case, a student is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time due to unavoidable reasons, either of the parent of that candidate can participate on his/ her behalf. The decision of the parent will be taken as final and no changes can be made later.
  • If a particular candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the given date and time, he/she can attend it on a subsequent time/date, during the counselling period. But the candidate can only opt for the seats available at that time. They cannot claim seat as per original rank.
  • If the rank of a candidate is changed as a result of re-totalling or revaluation of mark, he/she can attend counselling as per the new mark and rank.

TNEA Admission 2017 Seat Allotment

On the basis of the rank secured by the candidates in the merit list, the seat allotment of TNEA Admission 2017 will be conducted. Students will be allotted seats under seven categories namely OC, SC, BCM (BC Muslim), BC, MBC & DNC, ST and SCA reservation. Candidates will have to produce all relevant documents at the time of seat allotment process. Those who fail to produce the required documents will not be granted admission.
