UGC Notifies Suspension of New Technical Institutes

According to the sources of University Grant Commission (UGC), the authorities have suspended the approval of the set up of new technical institutes in the year 2014-15. The suspension has come as a surprise and shock at the same time as the new guidelines and regulations have been approved for the technical institutes.

The suspension of the technical institute’s means there will be no new technical institute that will be set across the country in the year 2014-15 and there shall be no increase in the intake numbers in the existing technical institutes in the same year. The UGC also stated that the universities who were suppose to be granted the affiliation in the month of March 2014 for the new engineering, Pharmacy and hotel management colleges have been asked not to invite any further applications.

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) handled the process of approval earlier but now it has merged the affiliation process to be done by the universities. Additionally, they also quoted that the commission felt the new of introducing a proper framework and process.
