WBJEE Exam Pattern 2018WBJEE Exam Pattern 2018 - The exam pattern of WBJEE has been defined by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). WBJEE exam pattern 2018 provides details about the overall structure of the examination. With the help of WBJEE exam pattern candidates will know about the examination mode, total number of papers, duration, question and marks distribution and more. As per WBJEE 2018 exam pattern, the entrance test will be conducted in pen and paper based mode on April 22, 2018. WBJEE 2018 will comprise of two compulsory papers- paper I and paper II. Paper I will have questions from Mathematics while paper II will consist questions from Physics and Chemistry. Both papers I and II are further divided into three categories. The number of questions and marking scheme in each category varies. The total duration of each paper is 2 hours. WBJEE Exam Pattern 2018

WBJEE 2018 will be held in around 25 districts of West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura on April 22. Candidates seeking admission in various engineering institutes in the state of West Bengal by appearing in the entrance exam can know about WBJEE exam pattern 2018 below:

Examination mode - WBJEE 2018 will be a pen and paper-based test and it will comprise two papers.

Total number of papers & subjects - Candidates have to appear in the following two compulsory papers:

  1. Paper I- Mathematics
  2. Paper II- Physics and Chemistry

Type of questions - Both paper I and paper II will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options against each question.

WBJEE paper pattern 2018- Total number of questions

The total number of questions in both paper 1 is 75 while in paper 2 it is 80. In paper 2 of WBJEE, the number of questions are equally divided between Chemistry and Physics i.e. 40 in each subject. Questions in each subject are further divided into three categories. The category wise number of questions in each subject as defined in WBJEE exam pattern 2018 is given below in the table:

WBJEE 2018 Exam Pattern- Marking scheme

According to WBJEE 2018 exam pattern, the marking scheme for each category in the subjects of both the papers differs. The category wise marking scheme for each subject of paper I and paper II is given in the table below:

Marking scheme for Category 1

  • Only one response is correct.
  • For each correct response, 1 mark will be awarded.
  • Every incorrect/multiple responses will lead to deduction of 1/4 marks.

Marking scheme for Category 2

  • Only one option is correct.
  • For every correct response, 2 marks will be awarded.
  • Every incorrect/multiple response will lead to deduction of 1/2 marks.

Marking scheme for Category 3

  • One or more correct options.
  • For every correct response, 2 marks will be awarded.
  • Any combination of correct and wrong response will be treated as incorrect and no marks will be awarded.
  • For partially correct response, marks awarded will be = 2 x (no. of correct options marked) / (total no. of correct options).

About WBJEE 2018

WBJEE is a state level examination conducted every year for admission to nearly 42 undergraduate engineering programmes. WBJEE 2018 will be a pen and paper-based test schedule to be held on April 22 in around 25 districts of West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. In 2017, around 1 lakh students qualified WBJEE and filled nearly 35,000 seats in nearly 104 engineering institutes in West Bengal.
