WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018 - The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) reserves seats for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC-A/B) and Person with Disability (PwD). Seats are also reserved for admission to the wards of Defence personnel. 10% of seats in the Self-financed engineering and technology colleges of West Bengal will be filled through JEE Main merit list 2018. WBJEE reservation of seats is restricted to students domiciled in West Bengal only. WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018

WBJEE 2018 reservation of seats is available in all the member institutes. However, it differs for each category of WBJEE participating institutes. WBJEE reservation of seats for candidates belonging to various categories will be available as per the guidelines given below:

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018 for various categories

Candidates claiming admission through WBJEE 2018 under SC/ST/OBC or PwD category must have the following documents issued by the competent authority. Applicants have to produce all applicable certificates/documents at the time of WBJEE counselling 2018:

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018- SC/ST Category

SC/ST certificates must be issued by any of the following authorities within the respective local jurisdiction:

In case, candidates ordinarily resides within such jurisdictions-

  2. Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata

  3. Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata

  7. First Class Stipendiary Magistrate

  8. Executive Magistrate

In case, candidates ordinarily resides in any part of West Bengal-

  1. Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare Directorate, West Bengal.

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018- OBC- A/B Category

The OBC certificate must be issued by Backward Classes Welfare Department. In Kolkata, such certificate is issued by the Sub Divisional Officer of a Sub- Division in a District.

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018- PwD category

A certain number of seats in the member institutes are reserved for Person with disabilities and/Physically challenged/Physically handicapped candidates. However, to claim admission under PwD category candidates must be with 40% to 70% disabilities subject to the condition that they are capable of carrying out all activities related to theory and practical work as applicable to various courses without any special concession. Candidates with disabilities of the following types will be considered under PwD category:

  1. Locomotor disability

  2. Visual Impairment

  3. Hearing impairment

  4. Speech and language disability

PwD certificates must be issued by the any of the following authorities:

  1. Officer-in-Charge

  2. Head of Department

  3. Head of the institute of Sub-divisional Hospitals, District Hospitals, Govt. Medical Colleges run by the Government of West Bengal.

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018- Defence Quota Seats

Through WBJEE 2018, candidates who are wards of Defence Personnel can also avail reserved seats for admission. The seats are supernumerary in nature and separate allotment is done by the WBJEE Board as per the following guidelines:

  1. For consideration under Defense Quota, candidates registering for the WBJEE 2018 have to apply to the Rajya Sainik Board, Home Department, Government of West Bengal, through the concerned Zila Sainik Board, W.B. (for ex-servicemen) and Units (for serving soldiers).

  2. The application must be in the prescribed form and a copy of WBJEE 2018 admit card must be attested to it.

  3. Based on the recommendation of the said Rajya Sainik Board, a separate list will be published by the WBJEEB for offline counselling and allotment of seats inter-se merit basis.

  4. Appearance in both WBJEE 2018 Paper I and Paper II is mandatory to claim seats under PwD category.

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018- Through JEE Main

In all Self Financed Engineering & Technology Colleges of West Bengal, 10% of seats are reserved for JEE Main 2018 candidates. Seats will be allotted on the basis of merit and preference of students through the WBJEE e-counselling process. For admission to the institutes, candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria of WBJEE prescribed by WBJEEB.

 

WBJEE Reservation of Seats 2018- Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme

The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW) has been implemented by the Government of West Bengal for meritorious and economically backward students domiciled in West Bengal. Selection of candidates for the TFW scheme will be decided on the basis of the following:

  1. WBJEE 2018 merit list and preference of eligible students.

  2. Candidates must be domiciled in West Bengal.

  3. Total annual Family Income of the students from all sources must be less than Rs. 2.50 lakhs.

  4. Candidates have to submit domicile certificate as well as income certificate issued by the competent authorities during the counseling and seat allotment process.

  5. All relevant certificates must be issued by an officer in the rank of Assistant Secretary or above in State or Central Government/ District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Officer/ Block Development Officer.

 

About WBJEE 2018

WBJEE 2018 is a state level examination conducted by WBJEEB. WBJEE 2018 will held offline on April 22 in 20 districts of West Bengal as well as in Assam and Tripura. Based on WBJEE 2018 merit list eligible candidates will be offered admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in over 104 engineering institutes in West Bengal. In 2017, around 1 lakh appeared in WBJEE to fill approximately 35,000 seats in over 44 engineering branches in the member institutes.
