WBJEE 2018WBJEE 2018 - The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has conducted WBJEE on April 22, 2018. The answer key of WBJEE 2018 has been published by various coaching institutes after the conduct of the entrance exam. The official answer key is scheduled to be released in the third week of May. The result of the exam should be released by June 5, 2018 while counselling will commence from the second week of June and is scheduled to be conducted in three rounds. WBJEE is a pen and paper based Entrance examination held for admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy and architecture courses in government colleges as well as self-financed institutes in the state. Candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination with at least 45% (40% for reserved category candidates) are eligible to appear in entrance exam. WBJEE 2018 consist of two papers namely, paper 1 (Mathematics) and paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). On the basis of candidates’ performance in the test, over 104 institutes of engineering and technology of the state will fill nearly 35,000 seats. WBJEE application form 2018 was made available online from December 19, 2017 and the last date to submit the same was January 19. Around 1.25 lakh candidates appeared in the entrance exam for admission into 44 courses offered by the participating institutes. WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018

To appear for the state level entrance examination conducted by WBJEEB aspirants have to fulfil WBJEE eligibility criteria given below:

  • Citizenship - Only candidates who are a citizen of India are eligible for WBJEE.
  • Age requirement - Candidates must be 17 years of age as on December 31, 2018. Also, the birth date of the candidates must fall on or before December 31, 2001. There is no upper age limit for appearing in WBJEE.
  • Academic qualification - In class 12 or equivalent examination, candidates must have obtained a minimum 45% marks (40% for reserved category) collectively in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application. The minimum qualifying marks for English is 30%.

WBJEE Application Form 2018

The application form of WBJEE had been released online and the fee was Rs. 500. It could be paid online by net banking/ debit card/ credit card or in cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan. Applicants could complete WBJEE 2018 application process in four simple steps given below:

WBJEE Exam Centres 2018

WBJEE 2018 was held in 46 cities across 23 districts of West Bengal. The entrance examination was also conducted in Assam and Tripura. Applicants had to select any three exam cities in order of their preference while filling the application form. The complete address of the exam centre of WBJEE was mentioned on the admit card. The decision of the board in the allocation of WBJEE exam centre was declared final. No request for change of WBJEE exam centres 2018 was entertained under normal circumstances.

WBJEE Admit Card 2018

The admit card of WBJEE was issued online for all successfully registered candidates. Admit card 2018 were made available on April 10 and candidates were able to download it with their application number and password. WBJEE admit card consisted examination date and time, roll number, address of exam centre among others. Candidates must take a print out of WBJEE admit card 2018 and ensure to carry it along with them to the centre on the exam day.

WBJEE Exam Pattern 2018

As per the exam pattern of WBJEE 2018 defined by WBJEEB, the entrance test was held in the offline mode. There were two compulsory papers in entrance examination - paper 1 (Mathematics) and paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). There were three categories of questions in each of the subjects. All the three categories contained multiple choice questions. However, in category I and II only one option were correct while in category III there could have been more than one correct answer. In paper 1, candidates had to attempt a total number of 75 questions while in paper 2, Physics and Chemistry subjects had 40 questions each. Both the papers of WBJEE were of 100 marks each with different marking scheme for each of the three categories.

WBJEE Syllabus 2018

Questions in both paper 1 and paper 2 were based on WBJEE syllabus 2018. Candidates had to study topics from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as prescribed in the syllabus of WBJEE 2018. In Mathematics, questions were asked from topics such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus etc. Physics comprises of current electricity, Kinematics, Gravitation, Thermodynamics to name a few. While, from Chemistry subject, candidates had to attempt questions from Atomic structure, Coordination compounds, Physical chemistry of solutions, Polymers among others.

WBJEE Sample Papers 2018

The sample papers of WBJEE 2018 is available online for aspirants to practice for the entrance examination. WBJEE sample papers help candidates to prepare more effectively for the examination. After completing the syllabus, it is important for students to revise by solving sample papers of WBJEE. It will help candidates to overcome their shortcomings, get rid of silly mistakes and know about the type of questions they might expect in the entrance test. With regular practice, candidates will be able to improve their speed and accuracy level and improve time management skills. As the structure of the sample papers is similar to WBJEE question paper it will give aspirants a prior experience of the actual test.

WBJEE 2018 exam day guidelines

Test takers must keep note of few instructions that must be followed on the examination day:

  • Reporting time - Candidates will be allowed to enter WBJEE exam centre 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
  • Important documents - Test takers must carry the print out of WBJEE admit card, a copy of coloured photograph and photo identity card such as aadhaar card/ pan card/ passport/ class 10 admit card/ school ID card.
  • Banned items - Applicants will not be allowed to carry any written or printed material, calculator, pen, log table, wristwatch, any communication device like mobile phones etc. inside the examination hall. Candidates found with such items will be reported and their candidature summarily cancelled.
  • WBJEE question booklet - The seal of the question booklet of WBJEE must be opened by candidates after the invigilator makes the announcement. In case candidates find any damage or missing pages in the question booklet they must report to the invigilator for replacement.
  • Code of conduct - In the examination hall, test takers must maintain complete silence. If any candidate is found to be adopting any unfair means, their candidature will be cancelled and will be debarred from the examination.

WBJEE Answer Key 2018

Various coaching institutes have released the answer key of the entrance test after the conduct of the exam. WBJEEB will release the official answer key of WBJEE in the third week of May 2018. WBJEE 2018 answer key consists correct answers to all the questions asked in the entrance exams. Candidates can download answer key and crosscheck their responses to calculate the probable score. Prior to the release of answer key, WBJEE OMR sheet 2018 of all the test takers will be published online. In case candidates are not satisfied with the official answer key they can challenge it online by paying Rs. 500 per question + bank charges.

WBJEE Result 2018

The result of WBJEE is likely to be announced on June 5, 2018. WBJEE result will be declared online in the form of rank cards. To download WBJEE result candidates have to log in with their application number and password. WBJEE rank card 2018 will contain paper wise score, total score and rank secured by candidates in the entrance test. Candidates must retain the print out of WBJEE 2018 result until the completion of admission process.

WBJEE Merit List 2018

On the basis of score obtained by candidates in WBJEE 2018, a merit list will be prepared by the Board. WBJEE merit list will be published in the name of General Merit Rank (GMR). In case, two or more students obtain the same rank, the tie breaking rule will be applied to determine their merit ranks. Separate category merit list will also be published for candidates belonging to reserved category. Only GMR will be taken into consideration for the counselling and seat allotment process.

WBJEE Cutoff 2018

WBJEE cutoff will be announced by WBJEEB along with the result. Only those candidates who will obtain the minimum cutoff score and/or rank will be eligible for counselling. WBJEE 2018 cutoff will be different institute, course and category wise. WBJEE cutoff will be prepared based on various factors such as number of qualified candidates, seat availability etc.

WBJEE Counselling 2018

The counselling of WBJEE will be held online in three rounds in the second week of June 2018. After the publication of result, the board will release the schedule for WBJEE counselling. All qualified candidates have to register in order to participate in the WBJEE counselling 2018 which involves registration, choice filling and locking, seat allotment, fee payment and document verification at the reporting centres. The details of the reporting centre will be mentioned in the rank cards of candidates qualified for the counselling process. Apart from the entrance test, WBJEE 2018 counselling will also be done for students qualifying in JEE Main 2018.

WBJEE Seat Allotment 2018

Seat allotment of WBJEE will be done on the basis of merit and preference of students through the e-counselling process to be conducted by WBJEEB. The course-wise and institute wise seat availability will be published online before counselling and WBJEE 2018 seat allotment process. Once the seats are allotted candidates have to visit WBJEE reporting centres to accept their seats. After accepting the allotted seat candidates have to report to their respective institute and complete admission formalities.
