WBJEE 2018 - The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) will conduct WBJEE on April 22, 2018. The correction window of WBJEE 2018 had been activated from January 26 to 28. Image correction window for rectification in photograph and signature was activated on January 2. WBJEE application form 2018 was made available online from December 19, 2017. Eligible candidates could apply for WBJEE 2018 online on or before January 19. WBJEE 2018 is a pen and paper based Entrance examination held for admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy and architecture courses in government colleges as well as self-financed institutes in the state. Candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination with at least 45% (40% for reserved category candidates) are eligible to appear in WBJEE 2018. WBJEE 2018 consist of two papers namely, paper 1 (Mathematics) and paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). On the basis of candidates’ performance in WBJEE 2018, over 104 institutes of engineering and technology of the state will fill nearly 35,000 seats. In 2017, around 1 lakh candidates appeared in WBJEE for admission into 42 courses offered by the participating institutes. To appear for the state level entrance examination conducted by WBJEEB aspirants have to fulfil WBJEE eligibility criteria given below:
The application form of WBJEE had been released online and the fee was Rs. 500. It could be paid online by net banking/ debit card/ credit card or in cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan. Applicants could complete WBJEE 2018 application process in four simple steps given below:

WBJEE 2018 will be held in 46 cities across 23 districts of West Bengal. The entrance examination will also be conducted in Assam and Tripura. Applicants have to select any three exam cities in order of their preference while filling the application form. The complete address of the exam centre of WBJEE will be mentioned on the admit card. The decision of the board in the allocation of WBJEE exam centre will be final. No request for change of WBJEE 2018 exam centres will be entertained under normal circumstances.
The admit card of WBJEE will be issued online for all successfully registered candidates. Admit card 2018 is likely to be available on April 10 and candidates can download it with their application number and password. WBJEE admit card will consist examination date and time, roll number, address of exam centre among others. Candidates must take a print out of WBJEE admit card 2018 and ensure to carry it along with them to the centre on the exam day.
As per the exam pattern of WBJEE 2018 defined by WBJEEB, the entrance test will be held in the offline mode. There will be two compulsory papers in WBJEE 2018- paper 1 (Mathematics) and paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). There will be three categories of questions in each of the subjects. All the three categories will have multiple choice questions. However, in category I and II only one option will be correct while in category III there might be more than one correct answer. In paper 1 candidates have to attempt a total number of 75 questions while in paper 2, Physics and Chemistry subjects will have 40 questions each. Both the papers of WBJEE will be of 100 marks each with different marking scheme for each of the three categories.
Questions in both paper 1 and paper 2 will be based on WBJEE syllabus 2018. Candidates have to study topics from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as prescribed in the syllabus of WBJEE 2018. In Mathematics, questions will be asked from topics such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus etc. Physics comprises of current electricity, Kinematics, Gravitation, Thermodynamics to name a few. While, from Chemistry subject, candidates have to attempt questions from Atomic structure, Coordination compounds, Physical chemistry of solutions, Polymers among others.
The sample papers of WBJEE 2018 is available online for aspirants to practice for the entrance examination. WBJEE sample papers help candidates to prepare more effectively for the examination. After completing the syllabus, it is important for students to revise by solving sample papers of WBJEE. It will help candidates to overcome their shortcomings, get rid of silly mistakes and know about the type of questions they might expect in the entrance test. With regular practice, candidates will be able to improve their speed and accuracy level and improve time management skills. As the structure of the sample papers is similar to WBJEE question paper it will give aspirants a prior experience of the actual test.
Test takers must keep note of few instructions that must be followed on the examination day:
WBJEEB will release the answer key of WBJEE in the third week of May 2018. WBJEE 2018 answer key will consist correct answers to all the questions asked in the entrance exams. Candidates must download answer key and crosscheck their responses to calculate the probable score. Prior to the release of answer key, WBJEE OMR sheet 2018 of all the test takers will be published online. In case candidates are not satisfied with the official answer key they can challenge it online by paying Rs. 500 per question + bank charges.
The result of WBJEE is likely to be announced on June 5, 2018. WBJEE result will be declared online in the form of rank cards. To download WBJEE result candidates have to log in with their application number and password. WBJEE rank card 2018 will contain paper wise score, total score and rank secured by candidates in the entrance test. Candidates must retain the print out of WBJEE 2018 result until the completion of admission process.
On the basis of score obtained by candidates in WBJEE 2018, a merit list will be prepared by the Board. WBJEE merit list will be published in the name of General Merit Rank (GMR). In case, two or more students obtain the same rank, the tie breaking rule will be applied to determine their merit ranks. Separate category merit list will also be published for candidates belonging to reserved category. Only GMR will be taken into consideration for the WBJEE 2018 counselling and seat allotment process.
WBJEE cutoff will be announced by WBJEEB along with the result. Only those candidates who will obtain the minimum cutoff score and/or rank will be eligible for counselling. WBJEE 2018 cutoff will be different institute, course and category wise. WBJEE cutoff will be prepared based on various factors such as number of qualified candidates, seat availability etc.
The counselling of WBJEE will be held online in three rounds in the second week of June 2018. After the publication of result, the board will release the schedule for WBJEE counselling. All qualified candidates have to register in order to participate in the WBJEE counselling 2018 which involves registration, choice filling and locking, seat allotment, fee payment and document verification at the reporting centres. The details of the reporting centre will be mentioned in the rank cards of candidates qualified for the counselling process. Apart from the entrance test, WBJEE 2018 counselling will also be done for students qualifying in JEE Main 2018.
Seat allotment of WBJEE will be done on the basis of merit and preference of students through the e-counselling process to be conducted by WBJEEB. The course-wise and institute wise seat availability will be published online before counselling and WBJEE 2018 seat allotment process. Once the seats are allotted candidates have to visit WBJEE 2018 reporting centres to accept their seats. After accepting the allotted seat candidates have to report to their respective institute and complete admission formalities.
