ASRB NET 2017: The admit card of ASRB ARS Mains exam has been released by Agriculture Scientists Recruitment Board. The mains examination of ASRB ARS is scheduled to be held on July 8, 2017. Candidates appearing in the exam can download their ASRB NET 2017 admit card on this page. The ARS Mains examination will be conducted in pen and paper mode across 12 exam cities spread throughout the country. The ARS Mains exam will be a descriptive type paper of 240 marks. A total of 2563 candidates selected on the basis of ARS Preliminary exam will appear for the mains exam. Candidates who will obtain minimum qualifying marks in the mains examination shall be called for viva-voce in the ratio of 1:5. The ARS Mains 2017 mains result is likely to be announced in the month of August. The dates of viva-voce will be informed to the candidates by exam conducting authority after the declaration of ASRB ARS mains result. The final result of ARS 2017 will be declared based on the marks scored by candidates in mains exam and viva-voce. Candidates thus selected will be given appointment for 180 vacancies of Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). ASRB has issued admit card for ARS mains exam. Candidates shortlisted for the mains exam can download their admit card from here. Candidates will have to enter their roll number and password to download ASRB ARS admit card. Separate ASRB ARS call letter will be released for Viva-Voce.

The result of ARS mains exam will be declared in August, 2017. The candidates who will obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the mains exam will be selected for the viva-voce. Candidates based on their marks in mains exam and viva-voce will be given appointments as scientists. The Board after conducting the viva voce will prepare a merit list category wise and professional subject-wise to declare the final result of ASR 2017.
The cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks which the candidates will have to secure to qualify the exam. The ASRB NET cutoff 2017 will be decided by the exam conducting body, ASRB, for each stage of recruitment process – Preliminary, Mains and Viva-Voce of ARS exam. ASRB has released the cutoff score of preliminary examination. Based on the ASRB ARS Prelims cutoff, candidates have been selected for mains exam. ASRB conduct the ARS exam in combination with NET. From the year 2014, it has been decided by the recruitment board that ARS and NET will be conducted together. However, the scheme of both the exams are different.

The eligibilty criteria of ASRB NET is the set of norms in terms of age, educational qualification and nationality which the candidates should fulfill inorder to be eligible for the exam. The ASRB NET eligibility crtiteria 2017 has been explained below.
- A candidate must be either:-
- (i) a citizen of India, or
- (ii) a citizen of Nepal, or
- (iii) a citizen of Bhutan, or
- (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st
- (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar) Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- ARS 2017 – A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years but not have attained the age of 32 years as on 01.01.2017.
- NET 2017 – A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years as on 01.01.2017. There is no upper age limit for the National Eligibility Test.
- ARS 2017: A candidate must hold a Master’s Degree or equivalent in the concerned discipline of agriculture with specialization.
- NET 2017: A candidate must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in the concerned discipline and specialization completed on or before 08.07.2017.

Candidates who wish to apply for ASR and NET exam are required to apply online for the exam. The ASRB NET application form 2017 has been made available from March 22 to April 15, 2017. Applicants will have to mention in the application form whether they are applying for ARS 2017 or NET (I) 2017 only or both ARS and NET. Candidates can pay their application fee either in online or offline mode. The application for the general category candidates for ARS 2017 is Rs 500 and for NET (I) 2017 is Rs 1000. The ASRB NET Application Form 2017 comprises of six parts – Registration & Personal Details, applicants’ NET/ARS related details & qualification details, uploading of photograph and signature, fee payment, checking slot availability and printing of application form. Applicants before applying should read the instructions carefully since no change will be entertained after submitting the application of ASRB.
The exam pattern of ASRB NET provides details about the marking scheme, number of questions, sectional weightage, number of sections etc. The exam of ARS and NET will be conducted in online mode. The questions of the Examination will be available in bilingual form i.e. in Hindi and English medium. The answers are to be indicated on the Computer itself during the Examination.The pattern of both the exam is different. The scheme of ASRB NET has been explained below:
ARS 2017 Preliminary Examination will comprise of one paper and maximum marks allotted to the paper is 150. The exam will be conducted for 2 hours. 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. This is a qualifying examination and marks scored will not be counted for final selection.
ARS 2017 Mains exam will have only one paper of 240 marks which will have to be completed in 3 hours duration. The paper will be of conventional type. The candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the Mains Examination shall be called for viva-voce in the ratio of 1:5 (category-wise) for each post.
ARS 2017 viva voce will be conducted to to assess his/her suitability for the Service for which he/she has competed.
NET (I) 2017
The NET (I) 2017 comprises of one paper of 150 marks consisting of 150 objective type multiple choice questions. The paper will be conducted for 2 hours. Each question carries one mark. 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in the NET (I), 2017.

With the help of ASRB syllabus, the aspiring candidates will have a clear understanding on what to study and what to avoid. The syllabus will help the candidates to prepare for the exam in an organized manner. The standard of ARS 2017 and NET (I) will be that of Master’s degree.

The ARS (Preliminary) Examination is a qualifying examination and its marks will not be carried forward for determining final merit of the candidates. Candidates declared successful in ARS Mains Examination and viva-voce will be recommended for appointment as Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Candidates clearing the National Eligibility Test (NET) will be eligible to apply for the post of Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. NET certificates will be issued by the ASRB to the qualified candidates to enable them to apply against vacancies to be notified or advertised by the State Agricultural Universities/Agricultural Universities.
