CDS CDS 2018: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification of Combined Defense Services (CDS I) 2018 exam on November 8, 2017. UPSC conducts CDS exam to select eligible candidates for admission to Indian Millitary Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Officers Training Academy (OTA) and Air Force Academy (AFA) as Gentleman Cadets. Upon completion of training, they will be allotted as Commissioned Officers in Army, Navy, Air Force and OTA. The recruitment process of CDS 2018 is two stage procedure comprising written exam and SSB tests. The written exam is held offline in pen and paper mode for candidates whose applications will be accepted by UPSC and those who qualifythe written test will be called for SSB tests. The application process of CDS 2018 has commenced from November 8 and the last date for registration is December 4, 2017. The written exam of CDS is scheduled to be conducted on February 4, 2018, result of which is expected to be announced in March, 2018. UPSC has released 414 vacancies for the CDS I 2018 recruitment process. This is a national level entrance examination conducted twice in a year – February and November. Only unmarried graduates both male and female are eligible for applying in CDS examination, however male married candidates can apply for OTA (men) course. CDS Eligibility Criteria 2018

UPSC decides on eligibility conditions for aspirants of CDS 2018 examination. Applicants will have to ensure they fulfil all the conditions fixed by UPSC before filling out the application form. Check the overview of CDS 2018 eligibility criteria as given in the table below.

CDS Application Form 2018

The application form of CDS (I) 2018 has ben made available from November 8, 2017 in online mode. Applicants will have to fill and submit their applications online and applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted. The application form of CDS consists of two parts, part 1 registration and part 2 registration. In part 1 of CDS application form, candidates will have to fill basic details such as personal details, academic qualification details, verification of details and generation of registration ID. Part II of CDS 1 application form involves filling up payment details, selection of examination centre, uploading of photograph and signature and agreeing to the declaration. General and OBC applicants applying for CDS 2018 exam will have to pay Rs.200/- as application fees while submitting the application form. CDS Exam Centres 2018

The names of exam centres for the written exam of CDS 2018 have been released along with the official notification. Applicants will have to enter their choice for CDS exam centres while filling the online application form. UPSC reserves the right to allot exam centres other than the one opted by candidates. The CDS exam centres for the written examination will be allotted on first come first serve basis, therefore candidates need to apply early so that they can get a centre of their choice.

CDS Admit Card 2018

UPSC will issue the admit card of CDS exam online. UPSC will issue the admit card for CDS 2018 written exam while the call letter for SSB tests will be issued by respective SSB Headquarters. The admit card for the written examination of CDS 1 is expected to be made available in January 2018. Candidates can download CDS admit card either by roll number / registration number and date of birth. UPSC will not sent the hard copy of CDS I admit card by post. Candidates need to carry the print out of CDS I admit card along with photo-identity proof to the examination centre on the day of exam.

Candidates qualifying the written exam can download their call letter from the website of Indian Army, after registering themselves on the official website. CDS Exam Pattern 2018

The exam pattern for the written exam of CDS has been decided by UPSC in the official notification. The CDS 2018 exam pattern will help the candidates to understand complete details about marking scheme, number of questions, total marks, number of sections and time-duration of the written exam. As per the paper pattern, the written exam for admission to IMA , INA and AFA will comprise of three sections – English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics whereas written exam for admission to OTA comprises two subjects – English and General Knowledge. The total marks allotted for CDS written exam for IMA , INA and AFA is 300 and OTA exam will be of total marks 200. Candidates will be given 2 hours to complete the exam. 0.33 marks will be deducted as negative marking for wrong answers. Check the paper pattern of CDS 2018 as explained below.

CDS Syllabus 2018

CDS Answer Key 2018

The answer key of CDS 2018 written exam will be made available by UPSC on its official website. Private coaching institutes will also release the unofficial CDS answer key on the day of the exam. Candidates appearing in the exam can download the answer key of CDS for all sets of question booklet. The CDS answer key 2018 will contain the correct answers of all questions of examination. The CDS answer key will be released for General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics and English. The answer key will help candidates to check their answers marked in the exam. Based on the number of correct and incorrect answers, candidates can calculate their probable score.

CDS Result 2018

The result of UPSC CDS 2018 exam will be announced by UPSC. CDS result will be declared online as a pdf file in two stages- written exam and final result. At the first stage, result of written exam will be announced which will be followed by declaration of final result after the SSB tests is over. The result of CDS (I) written exam is expected to be announced in March. 2018. Candidates need to secure qualifying marks in written exam as well as in SSB tests separately. The final result of CDS to select candidates for various courses will be declared based on the performance of candidates in written exam and SSB tests.

The result of CDS II written exam will be announced in January 2018. However, the CDS II final result will be declared in June 2018.

CDS Cutoff 2018

UPSC decides on cutoff marks or the minimum qualifying marks for CDS exam. Candidates who appear for the exam need to secure marks according to CDS cutoff in each stage in order to be declared qualified for next round of selection process. Candidates securing qualifying marks in written examination will be selected for SSB tests. The CDS cutoff of written examination will be decided on the basis of the minimum aggregate marks secured by last qualified candidates in written examination. However, the final cutoff of CDS will be fixed based on the marks last recommended candidates. CDS Selection Procedure 2018

The selection procedure of CDS 2018 consists of two stages written exam and SSB tests along with fulfilling the required medical conditions in order to be shortlisted.

SSB board will test the candidates on their intelligence, personality, compatibility and potential of prospective candidates for selection in Indian Army, Indian Navy and Air Force. SSB tests are conducted for a period of five days and comprise of multiple stages testing.

Candidates will be selected as Commissioned Officers in IMA, INA, AFA, OTA after completion of their training.

The CDS 2018 merit list will be prepared in order of marks secured by candidates in written exam and SSB tests. Allocation of candidates will be done based on their preference and position in the merit list subjected to their fulfilling the medical fitness..
