CDS 2017CDS 2017: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has relased the official notification for Combined Defence Services (CDS) II exam on August 9, 2017. The application process of CDS 2017 has commence with the release of notification and all the aspirants can apply online untill September 8, 2017. UPSC is conducting the CDS exam for recruitment of eligible candidates at 414 vacancies into Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Officers Training Academy (OTA) and Air Force Academy (AFA) as Commissioned Officers. This is a national level entrance examination conducted twice in a year – February and November. All the applicants are advised to check the eligibility criteria to know the age and academic qualification for CDS 2017 exam before they fill the online application form. Ineligible candidates will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process. CDS exam comprises of written examination and SSB tests. Only unmarried graduates both male and female are eligible for applying in CDS examination. The written examination of CDS (II) will be conducted on November 19, 2017. Highlights of CDS 2017

  • The notification of UPSC CDS II will be released on August 9, 2017.
  • The application form of CDS 2017 will be available from August 9 to September 8, 2017.
  • Around 400 vacancies are expected to be released by UPSC.
  • The written examination of CDS 2017 will be held in pen and paper mode on November 19, 2017 followed by SSB tests comprising of Intelligence and Personality Test in February-March 2018.
  • The admit card of written examination and SSB tests will be released 10 to 15 days prior the commencement of exam.
  • Candidates who will clear all the stages will be sent to training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun (IMA), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala (INA), Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (AFA), Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai (OTA).
  • Female candidates are recruited to Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) for Short-Service Commission.
  • Candidates should be at least 18 years of age and must be a graduate.

CDS Important Dates

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2017

The eligibility criteria of CDS provides details regarding age limit, academic qualification, physical standard required for applying for CDS (II) exam. The CDS eligibility criteria 2017 is announced by exam conducting body, UPSC. Candidates interested in applying for CDS 2017 must fulfill the eligibility criteria. Candidates are advised to check the CDS eligibility criteria before filling the application form as their candidature might get cancelled if they are found ineligible. The CDS (II) eligibility is given below.

Age, Martial, Sex Educational Qualification Physical Standard

Candidates age should be at least 18 years.

Only unmarried candidates are eligible for applying.

Both male and female candidates can apply for the exam.

Candidates must be a graduate

Candidates must be physically fit as per Physical Standards set by the commission

CDS Application Form 2017

The application form of CDS II is available from August 9 to September 9, 2017. Candidates should fill the application form online. The application fees of CDS II should be paid while filling the application form. The CDS II application fees is Rs 200 for general & OBC category male candidates while female/SC/ST candidates need not to pay any application fees. The application fees can be paid either online or offline. The application form of CDS comprises of two parts – Part 1 Registration involves filling up of Personal details, academic qualification and preview of application form and Part 2 payment of application fees uploading of scanned images of photograph and signature. The procedure to fill CDS II application form 2017 is explained below.

  • Candidates in this part should fill their Personal details, academic qualification and preview of application form and submit the application form.
  • Candidates need to login with their registration number and date of birth to fill the Part 2 Registration.
  • Candidates in this part need to upload photograph and signature as per dimensions and pay application fees.
  • Applicants should take a print out of application form and copy of fee receipt and retain the same till the recruitment process is over.

CDS Exam Centres 2017

The list of CDS II exam centres will be released by UPSC along with the notification. Candidates need to provide their choices of CDS II exam centres 2017 while filling the application form. The commission reserves the right to allot exam centres other than the one opted by candidates. The CDS 2 exam centres will be allotted on the first-apply-allot basis. Therefore, candidates should apply early to get their choices of exam centres.

CDS Admit Card 2017

The admit card of CDS will be released 10 to 15 days before the exams. The CDS II admit card 2017 will be released online. Candidates can download CDS admit card either by roll number / registration number and date of birth. UPSC will not sent the hard copy of CDS II admit card by post. The CDS II admit card of written exam is likely to be released either in the last week of October or first week of November 2017. Candidates qualifying the written exam need to download their admit card for SSB tests from the website of Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Naval Academy. Candidates need to carry the print out of CDS II admit card along with photo-identity proof to the examination centre on the day of exam.

CDS Exam Pattern 2017

The exam pattern of CDS II is defined by UPSC. The CDS II exam pattern gives details about marking scheme, number of questions, total marks, number of sections and time-duration. As per the exam pattern of CDS II, the written exam for admission to IMA , INA and AFA will comprise of three sections – English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. The total marks allotted for CDS written exam for IMA , INA and AFA is 300. The written exam of CDS II for admission to OTA comprises of two subjects – English and General Knowledge. The total marks of the exam is 200. The time duration for each paper is 2 hours. The question paper of all the subjects will carry objective type questions. There is negative marks for wrong answers, 0.33 marks will be deducted as penalty.

CDS Answer Key 2017

The answer key of CDS II will be released by coaching institutes after the completion of exam on November 19, 2017. Candidates appearing in the exam can download the answer key of CDS for all set of question booklet. The CDS II answer key 2017 will contain the correct answers of all questions of examination. The CDS answer key will be released for General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics and English. The answer key will help candidates to check their answers marked in the exam. Based on the number of correct and incorrect answers, candidates can calculate their probable score.

CDS Result 2017

The final result of CDS (I) 2017 is expected to be declared by September 2017. Candidates who appeared for the exam will be able to check their result through the link that will be provided above on this page.

he CDS II result will be declared in two phases – written exam and final result. At the first stage, result of written exam will be announced which will be followed by declaration of final result after the SSB tests is over. The result of CDS II written exam will be announced in January 2018. However, the CDS II final result will be declared in June 2018. Candidates need to secure qualifying marks in written exam as well as in SSB tests separately. The final result of CDS II to select candidates for various courses will be done based on the performance of candidates in written exam and SSB tests.

CDS Cutoff 2017

The cutoff of CDS is the minimum marks required to qualify the exam and become eligible for next round of selection process. The examination authority will release CDS II cutoff after the recruitment process is over. UPSC will fix minimum qualifying marks in each subjects. Candidates securing qualifying marks in written examination will be selected for SSB tests. The CDS II cutoff of written examination will be decided on the basis of the minimum aggregate marks secured by last qualified candidates in written examination. However, the final cutoff of CDS II will be fixed based on the marks last recommended candidates. Candidates can check below for CDS II expected cutoff.

CDS Selection Procedure 2017

Candidates will be selected as Commissioned Officers in IMA, INA, AFA, OTA on the basis of written examination and SSB tests. UPSC will prepare merit list in order of marks secured by candidates in written exam and SSB tests. Allocation of candidates will be done from amongst the candidates in the merit list subjected to their fulfilling the medical fitness.
