IBPS Clerk Exam Analysis 2017 – Mains Exam

IBPS Clerk 2017 mains exam will test candidates on – Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, General/Financial Awareness and English Language. Till last year, the Computer Aptitude section was a separate section, but according to IBPS Clerk 2017 notification, it has been merged with Reasoning Ability section. The total time duration of mains exam 2017 was 135 minutes whereas for IBPS Clerk 2017 mains exam the time duration is 160 minutes. As per the analysis of IBPS Clerk mains exam 2017, the Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computers and General Awareness were of moderate difficulty level and the questions asked in Reasoning section were moderate to difficult. Also, the previous year’s mains exam was lengthy and time-consuming. On the basis of previous year’s exam analysis, it can be expected that the difficulty level of IBPS Clerk mains exam 2017 will be moderate.

IBPS Clerk Exam Analysis 2017 – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination of IBPS Clerk carried 100 marks. There were three sections – English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. Each section carried 30 questions. The total marks allotted for each section was 30. There is also a penalty for wrong answers marked in the objective tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by candidate one fourth or 0.25 of marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left unanswered, there will be no penalty for that question.

Candidates will have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing IBPS Clerk cut-off marks. Adequate number of candidates in each category will be shortlisted for online Main Examination. This will depend upon the requirements as decided by the Institute.

Overall Analysis of IBPS Clerk 2017 Prelims Exam - Day 3

The preliminary exam for IBPS Clerk was conducted online and had 100 questions for 60 minutes. Candidates have to manage those 60 minutes themselves while dealing with three sections- Reasoning Ability (35 Ques), Numerical Ability (35 Ques), and English Language (30 Ques).

Overall Analysis of IBPS Clerk 2017 Prelims Exam - Day 2

The Day 2 of IBPS Clerk 2017 was held on Decemember 3, 2017. IBPS conducted the exam in four slots. The Day 2 has also witnessed huge number of banking aspirants across various centres throughout the country. The level of difficulty remained the same as it was in the Day 1. Fourth Slot of Exam Analysis of IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam

The last slot of Day 2 exam got over just now. The Overall level of Difficulty of the last slot was moderate to easy. The fourth Slot was conducted from 4.30 to 5.30 PM. No changes in the Pattern and Structure of the exam held in the fourth slot has been noticed. The Pattern was similar unlike the previous slots. The English Language section was easy, Reasoning was Moderate to Easy and Quantitative Aptitude Section was Moderate to Easy.

Second Slot Exam Analysis of IBPS Clerk 2017

The Second Slot of IBPS Clerk 2017 is over now. The Second shift remained the same as the first shift. The questions of the second shift was moderate to easy. The candidates of the second shift found the difficulty level to be easy. Most of the candidates have attempted 74 questions with accuracy. The experts are also of the view that those whose concept is clear and those who took mock test regularly can easily attempt good number of questions since the paper was very easy. They have also advised the candidates to attempt maximum questions to score good. There were one seating arrangement and two puzzles in Reasoning. No Fillers were asked in English Language.

The first slot of Day 1 exam is over now. From the feedback received from the candidates, the exam was easy to moderate as compared to last year. In Quantitative Aptitude section, no question on quadratic equations were asked. In Reasoning also there were no any questions from Syllogism. Since the Exam was easy, it is expected that the Cutoff is going to be high. The candidates looked very happy after appearing for the exam. They were of the view that the paper was too easy. Process of Calculation of Score in IBPS Clerk Prelims

The scores of the Preliminary Examination will be calculated adopting the following technique.

  • The corrected scores of the exam will be arrived after applying penalty for wrong answers.
  • Thus the scores so obtained by a candidate are made equivalent taking care of the minor difference in difficulty level, if any, in each of the objective tests held in different sessions to arrive at the equated scores.
  • Scores obtained by the candidates on any test are equated to the base form by considering the distribution of scores of all the forms.
  • Final scores in each test are rounded off to up to two digits after the decimal points.
